    Oooooh First to watch, Hi Claire🤣hope your summer is going cool. BTW I just rinse the light syrup off the tinned peaches, its fine, if a slightly sweeter but pleasantly so. In fact I think the peaches in fruit juice stay firmer which is not always preferred. 😀

    I love seeing hauls with prices. I’ve paid .79 Canadian for a small hot pepper. That bag of peppers here are around $5. Eggs are $4.50-5.50

    Mayo can substitute for an egg, or oil, in baking. Or a meatloaf/burger patties.[meaty mix that needs stickiness]
    Same for unsweetened apple sauce in baking.
    If fruits are bruised, cook 1/2way, freeze or use on oatmeal.
    Canned fruit in light syrup, abd don't want syrup? Use that syrup to sweeten a.m. oatmeal, or some tea for a cool drink in the summer.
    😊😊

    This looks like a lot of food for the $$$! Our Aldi has been our of sausage for weeks. I didn't hear of a pig shortage, but here we are! Eggs are finally down to $1.30/dz. Maybe the beef is in your long lost bag at Aldi still! Have you considered buying the reusable sealable bags? They are wonderful. I'm not normal, but if I run out of chocolate protein shakes, it's a minor crisis in our house.

    • @mumthings
      @mumthings  Před 9 měsíci +1

      That sounds like a great price for eggs! Sausage seems an odd thing to rub out of. I wonder if it’s an issue with the manufacturers? No judgement on the chocolate protein shakes from me.
      I like the look of the reusable ziplock bags but just haven’t gotten round to trying them. Glad to hear they work well. They look a lot more leak proof than the disposable ones xx

    I cannot get over the prices where you are. Ours are about triple for most things. (Canada) Double for the meat. I don't even buy it much anymore. Lots of soup from dried lentils and beans in our house. Lots of brown rice with curried veg or roasted veg and beans. Honey ranges from $4.50 CA to $17.00 for the Manuka kind. What does the snake eat, or should I ask?

    • @mumthings
      @mumthings  Před rokem +1

      That’s so scary! I’m with you on reducing meat consumption. It’s a bit tricky as Ed isn’t the biggest fan of veggie meals. $17 for honey is crazy 😳 the snakes eat frozen thawed rodents (thankfully it’s illegal to feed live in the UK, I know it’s legal in the US but not sure what the practice is in Canada). So I have a separate basket in the freezer to keep the frozen rats and mice away from the people food 🤮 xx
