Sandhya is primarily the disciple of Shri. V. Janakiraman from Delhi. She had the privilege of learning from Shri. Lalgudi Jayaraman when she visited Chennai during summer from 1990 - 1993 and considers this as a great blessings.
Sandhya is a gold medalist in M.A music from the Delhi University, where she also had the opportunity to learn from Sangeeta Kalanidhi Professor T.N. Krishnan. She’s also an A-grade artist of All India Radio since 1991.
Along with top solo performances, she has also accompanied many senior and top ranking musicians. Her sensitivity and versatility has led her to take on instrumental ensembles, jugalbandis with Hindustani artists, and fusion concerts with western musicians.
Sandhya is a recipient of several awards and titles from many prestigious institutions.
In this video she pays tribute by presenting a thillana in Mohanakalyani learnt from Sri Lalgudi.
