- Canada has brought its fair share of food across the border. Most people in the US are familiar with standards like poutine or those delicious donuts from Tim Hortons. But when it comes to ice cream, there probably aren’t many Canada-specific flavors that come to mind.
Well, it just so happens there is one kind of ice cream that is quite unique to the country in question. Whether or not it would be welcome with open arms is up for debate, but it certainly has a strong following in its place of origin. This is the ice cream flavor you can basically only get in Canada.

What's your favorite ice cream flavor?
Cookie Dough, B&J non-dairy PB Cookies & Phish Food & Cookies & Cream So Delicious
Tiger and cherry cheesecake 🍒
Vanilla. Classic and underrated but different vanillas taste different so finding out which is used is nice
Vanilla or vanilla fudge ripple😋🤤🍦
We Need In and Out, Steak&shake, ShakeShack, Carls Jr Culvers, Sonic,
Checkers, WhataBurger, del taco, Jimmy Johns Jerswy Mikes and Trader Joes in Toronto🇨🇦💪🖖🤤😁
I live in Canada. And it’s my favourite. The licorices really comes three. Must try
Holman’s Ice Cream Parlour, where I work, is featured in this video. Tiger Tail was one of the flavours that were highly requested for our opening weekend this past week!
I've always liked black licorice but I totally get and can see liking this ice cream even if I didn't like black licorice..lol.
I am Canadian & have never tried this now I want too!
As a Canadian I was unfamiliar that tiger tail was a Canadian flavour, I hate black liquorice but tiger tail is SO good
No no, see, I’m from the US, and this sounds AMAZING. I’ve spent a lot of time in Europe, and learned to love black licorice. The idea of combining it with a citrus flavor is pure genius. I’d try this in a heartbeat!
licorice sucks ass ngl
I'd try it but I don't like licorice. I think a blackberry flavor would work with the color/flavor combination.
@@bugf1sch691 ok, so, not for you. Those of us who love it would appreciate this…
@@imageisn0thing yeah, that would be an option, but this looks a treat for people who like licorice…
@@Ikilinis Same here. Hate black licorice but the combination with orange is divine!
60 years old and still buy it ,totally brings back childhood memories
As a side note…If you ever visit Prince Edward Island..check out Holman’s Ice Cream Parlour as seen various times throughout this video..they make delicious homemade ice cream and they are great people as well!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Have always liked tiger tail ice cream but haven’t had it in ages.
More Canadians should raise a ruckus about the elimination of Habitant Canadian yellow split pea soup that was done in By Campbell soup company ! I love (loved) it and I have to make my own instead of just opening a can to heat up when ever I had a craving! I am from Maine and now live in Florida. I find it very difficult to get the yellow split peas !
Not discontinued! I seen it yesterday in store. In Canada of course.
You sold me on both these flavors. Orange love it, Black Licorice I also enjoy it.
Don't knock Black licorice ice cream it is soooo yummy!!!
Yes! MyFavorites! Merci. Food for Thought.
OMG... the last time I saw Tiger ice cream was back in 1974.
Lucerne Dairy (the private dairy label for Safeway) produced the ice cream, and (of course), mom bought it at Safeway.
Lucerne dairy products are now Walmart’s official dairy label and can be purchased in Western Canada.
Thank you 🙏
as a canadian, i was today years old when i learned tiger tail isn't a common thing outside of my country LOL
guys i swear on my life, it's beyond delicious. i'm someone who *strongly hates* anything orange flavoured, and i ADORE tiger tail - it's easily in my top 3. i love black liquorice though so that may help my case, but i have friends who gag at black liquorice but will down a 500mL tiger tail tub in one go :)
University of Missouri sells Tiger Stripe ice cream named after Truman the Tiger mascot.
I thought it was gonna be orange and chocolate, which is a flavour combination I've had and don't care for. Now that I know it's orange and black licorice I want to try it!
During a trip to Newfoundland I tasted Rum Raisin ice cream .I loved it! Now to find it in the States .
Rum raisin is basically vanilla icecream mixed with some raisins, liquid caramel, and rum. Soften some vanilla icecream, stir in the ingredients I told you and you’ll have your rum raisin! My dad loved it and I thought it was good.
@@JonJon-bm7wi Thanks Jon Jon for your comment on Rum Raisin ice cream
Ketchup chips, and now this tiger tail ice cream, y’all are sooo lucky.
lays literally has a ketchup flavour bro💀
Ketchup chips? 😳
Lol this sounds sarcastic af
My favourite ice cream! Presidents Choice is definitely the best brand to buy!
Reminds me of the bubblegum ice cream from Lucky's/Thrifty's drugstore that haunts me to this day. They don't sell it any stores that I know
of, (sold in the 90s and I'm prettysure the drugstores changed hands to Safeway stores.) and it may well have been vanilla with blue food coloring, but it was hecking GOOD!!
Yes! I remember it too! I live near a Chevron gas station in Vegas that sells thrifty ice cream including "bubble gum". Decatur/Alta intersection). My faves are chocolate malt crunch, and vanilla cherry. So I assume it's available to business owners who sign up to carry the product.
As much as I enjoy Tigers as an animal, I don't know if I could stomach that flavor of ice cream especially if the black stripes taste like black licorice which I can't stand.
Tiger Tail is fantastic!
I want to try this... sprinkled with salt! Yuuuuum
Good stuff !!
I remember seeing and really wanting the Tiger tail ice cream whenever we went to Woolco. When I did finally try it - I wasn't impressed but to each his own I guess.
besides Vanilla Tiger Tail is my go to for ice cream flavours. Would like to find a place that sells it in a tub.
When I was growing up, it was called "Tiger-Tiger," and it was my favourite.
Now I need some.
There's an ice cream parlor near where I live in California that always has Tiger's Tail.
Where exactly? I live in California
Orange = delicious. Black licorice = nasty.
I remember Tiger Tail ice cream when I was a kid, but it's not so popular now. I think Basskin Robbins has it sometimes.
Theirs always someone looking for something different and tastes fresh and knew
That's like a regional flavor we have here in Michigan, Superman
Literally seconds before she said what it is, I thought to myself "Oh god, I hope it's not something bizarre, like orange and... licorice, or something".
It's more reminiscent of gelato and the flavor is that of cantaloupe, an old time favorite, albeit a quirky one.
Always my fav🤘😎
I'd give it a try cuz I like black licorice and my favorite ice cream is orange scream (orange and vanilla)
Sweden has a licorice and raspberry ice cream that is great too.
Sounds amazing! But I'm more iffy about the orange than the licorice.
I agree I think a completely black liquorice ice cream would be awesome not crazy about the orange flavour
As a Canadian oh my god tiger tail is my least favorite flavor but every person over the age of 40 goes absolutely ballistic for this
omg... haven't had it since I was a kid... i always thought it was Tiger-Tiger, lol
They sell it in no frills under the pc brand and it's really rich and creamy
I like licorice, I like orange, but the combination of orange and licorice as an ice cream flavour just sounds downright putrid to me. It makes me feel physically wrong for just knowing about it.
Orange licorice...... Hmmmm. Won't make my top 100 favorite ice cream flavors.
Thats my favourite kind
I wonder if the black color puts some folks off....try a different color but keep the Anise flavor?
I am Canadian and funny enough I’ve never tried this I think the orange is offputting to me I would actually love it if it was just pure black liquorice ice cream I’ve never been a fan of orange flavoured ice cream. No matter what it’s combined with . Sorry : (
Where I live we could get whisky flavor Ice cream.
Can you guys please lower your volume on vids to match the rest of the internet!!
I'd swap the licorice for chocolate. Orange and chocolate is a great combo.
Moose tracks
😋
Maybe it's a Vancouver Island thing, but it's always been referred to as Tiger Tiger ice cream. At least the ice cream shop in Campbell River has that label on the Nestle ice cream that they sell.
Yes!! I swear they changed it? I’m in Saskatchewan and always remember is being called tiger tiger.
Saskatchewan here, we also called it tiger tiger too!
Lost me at licorice...
Weird Canadian food
not surprised this ice cream hasn't crossed the border. Black licorice isn't a popular flavor in America.
It's the best this and maple walnut
I wouldn't have minded if the dark stripe was chocolate (yum) but licorice? GAG!
Now you see I HATE chocolate. The smell makes me sick. And you try going to restaurant now and getting a dessert that doesn't have chocolate in it. It is like every other flavour in the world has disappeared!! I love licorice. Especially that from Oz or Holland (which is quite salty) Each to her own.
@@ktkat1949 My mom would have agreed with you. She really didn't care too much for chocolate, but man! She could tear apart a bag of Allsorts in a matter of minutes!
If it ain't on letterkenny it ain't Canadian
Still available.. tasty
Definitely never heard.Of an ice cream flavor like that?
I miss Tiger ice cream :(
Oskie WeeWee Oska Wa, Holly Holly Mackanaw! Bricka-Bra Tiger Cats, EAT 'EM RAW!
Omg haven't had this in years
Know it as tiger tiger!
this is called tigar tigar in most of western canada
I live in BC and never seen it called anything but tiger tail.
Figured it would at least be a good flavor, ruining orange sherbert with black licorice is gross.
Nah Halloween candy for icecream just eat the saltwater taffy and get a better flavor like rocky road
Lost me at black licorice 😝
Maple Syrup? Poutine?
How about Canadian bacon and Kraft dinner. 😁😁😁
Available only in Canada? Good. Keep it there.
Pass
Meh... They can keep that. 😅
That’s it: I’m moving to Canada!
Can see it now all the folks who don't have acquired taste crying how much they don't like black licorice. Willing to say 95% of them haven't even tried this Ice Cream. Who's to say you wouldn't actually like it. I'm sure there've been some odd food pairings we've all thought of as yuck gross but actually later tried to learn that this isn't halved bad.
I can't stand black licorice but my father liked that stuff.
Black licorice is gross. It tastes like strong cough medicine.
Sounds like a stoner snack.
Was interested up till the words black liquorish appeared
Ugh black licorice is so nasty!🤢
First betches
Gross vomit cream
I love it but it’s so hard to find 🥲
