Great stuff! Would love to see more of these maintenance videos, very well filmed.
Wow dude. You've got a gem there. Always had a soft spot for these cars. They are tough to find in that kind of shape. I always chuckle a bit going down the rabbit hole for repairs. Slave cylinder turns into an entire clutch job. Nice work!
+Ryan Hoaglin thanks man. Ah the good ol rabbit hole, thinking it will be simple and then it takes a turn 😂
Down the rabbit hole indeed...and the worst part is that there was probably nothing wrong with the slave cylinder. It probably just extended beyond its seal when there was no longer any pressure pushing against it from the clutch being blown. You can see in the other video that the dust boot was pulled away from being extended too far. lol
Daniel Private totally, but since I was in there and they are relatively cheap, went for it.
This was tough to watch, man. So much composure though when you found the real problem. I would have been like....WTF!!!!!!
Thank you very much, the Crow foot Flare saved the Day, Great video and Instruction
Great video. Great car. I've got a '93 VR4. Time lapse made lifting the trans-axle back into place look easy. :-) I remember it took me forever to finagle that thing into place. These cars are worth the pain.
Be way to stay quarantine! Is in your own garage! I’ve been working on my Z like no tomorrow! 3000GT coming along very good! Keep it up and be safe!
+Gym Z glad you are staying safe and working on the Z!!!! Thanks as always! 🤘🏻
made it look easy
Awesome vid, where did you find the torque specs for this, ultimately, full blown overhaul. Also, could you share where you bought the window regulator and axle parts for other owners that were drawn to this vid to complete the same repairs. Thanks!
Thank you!! I had the service manual but I’m seeing some forums online where people have posted them. The axles I got from O’rielly’s. I have to look for the regulator as I think it was either RockAuto or parts geek
Hi do u live in Florida. my 3000 gt needs a new clutch I have a new stage 2 .
You don't have to drain the fluid you can squeeze the Sleve cylinder piston with something together . That would save you bleeding the system later on
Great video man. I recently picked up a 96 vr4 and the clutch doesn't engage until the very end of the pedal. I'm not sure if it's bad, it just feels weird, the car only has 46k on it. Is the clutch on a vr4 the same as the gt?
Thank you! So awesome! If I remember correctly the vr4 clutch is slightly larger. The process is similar however you get to remove the down pipe and the transfer case which is sort of a pain but for sure doable.
Hey man.. awesome video. I'm experiencing the same problem with the same car. I was hoping you could tell me where you purchased the throw out bearing/ release bearing from?
Hey thanks! Orielly auto parts has it www.oreillyauto.com/detail/b/power-torque-4688/transmission---transaxle-16780/clutch-parts-16462/clutch-set-11335/6d034da02ad7/power-torque-clutch-kit/kf73501/4672004/1995/mitsubishi/3000gt?pos=3 I have to look where I got the clip, I want to say I found in on eBay.
Did you notice any clunking sound when you let off the clutch with the throw out bearing being worn out? I'm getting a whining noise and a clunk when I let off the clutch at certain slow speeds. I also recently started feeling the shifter grabbing/sticking when taking it out of gear like the clutch isn't engaging all the way.
To me that sounds like a throw out bearing and possibly an issue with the clutch. Does it change sound if it’s in different gears? Maybe trans?
I just recently did this.. What a nightmare!!! I ended up having to replace the master cylinder plus the line going to the slave
@@CarsBikesandCoffee STM Tuned makes a direct line that runs directly f eery on the master to slave. Works great. Old factory line was rusted and stripped
Nice work I have a 92 stealth rt twin turbo awd aws I have to do my transmission and clutch not sure how hard it's going to be with transfer case by myself sure wish you live by me lol
You can do it! It is a little harder dealing with the transfer case and down pipes but just take your time! 🤘🏻
How difficult would you say it is to rebuild these trans?
@@CarsBikesandCoffee Im gonna rebuild mine soon never did it before either and it's the awd stealth
What I would like to see is how AC clutch is replaced on a car without taking ac compressor out
did you have to remove exhaust?
For the non-Turbo, it’s pretty easy only need to drop the transaxle. For the vr4 Down pipe and most of the drivetrain
Plus you start one project and you end up finding something else to fix..ugh!
I like how you skipped over one of the biggest steps, pulling out the axels and then pulling the transmission mounting bolts and the transmission just "well it's out now" lmao
