I see that you are trying to keep us home amidst this outbreak by uploading videos as frequently as you can. Alright! You win! I am staying home.
Thank you. For taking your time to teach us.🙏
Once again this is the best archery explanation on youtube
Yesterday, I almost requested that you do a tutorial on the Ottoman arrow grip. I searched for it online because I did not want to bother you. I found nothing. Then, you read my mind! Thanks so much.
Thanks for the explanation Armin, I will miss the range and meeting you and the guys :( :(
Great stuff Armin! I also find 2 fletch to be just as good especially in low profile as you mentioned. Too large fletch acts like parachute slows it down some. Stay safe out there
Once again great, unique content! I've just rec'd 50 feathers today and might try re-fletching my cheap arrows both 2 & 3 fletch styly...
Netflix - meh! I'm watching & learning from Armin.
Thanks and keep safe, from the Uk.
I love the look of your Curon bow. Thank you for these explanations 🙇🏻♂️
Nice Bow ! Very instructive , this style of shooting is new to me. Thanks for the video, please keep these coming in these difficult times. You have nice weather , here its snowing ......
Dual Fletch arrows, with left-offset, and left helical-twist, 4-5” long, moderate height are very predictable and accurate ate any distance. Plus, if the fletch is aligned with the nock string slot, they become very efficient for blind Nocking.
It's a good feeling to know that I'm learning from the best. Thank you again Master Armin.
Thanks for the answer. That was really fast.
Mr. Hirmer! I just discovered your channel yesterday evening, I subscribed today. My wife and I enjoy your content and aproach to archery and history very much! It is so refreshing when we find someone whose talent overwhelms us, instead of the usual sensatiolanism and doctrinarism; a rare experience nowadays indeed!
But please make your videos louder somehow, actually a lot louder. There is so much to learn from what you show and share, but it is really hard to hear what you say in a number of your videos - this one included (I double-checked, it isn't my laptop, on other youtube videos I have way more sound volume range).
Greetings from Hungary, and keep safe!
I have shot 2 fletch arrows with normal helical and have good arrow flight. Even at longer distance. One of my favorite fletch is the southeast 2 fletch with my primitive bows.
Just did string stwist yesterday and this evening and wow it is noticeably better then without. Didnt think the arrow could fly any better than just performing khatra but the combination is really awesome.
2 fletched arrows...i have been waiting for this for a long time. Awesome video as always
I greatly enjoy watching these videos when I have high anxiety. A+ 100%
That bow sounded beautiful.
That Bow was Hypnotic at times!
Dig the Feather on the Twin feathered Arrows.
Great Show, thats Right, Don't Believe The Hype.
Unreal Armi, take care over there.
Thank You sir for sharing the good news, archery Art of Hirmer👍🙏
I will practice it with my fiberglass Tatar. Thank you
Hach... Zo gut Meister Armin!!!
Thank's again for all your usefull advices that keep us cool and joyfull in these times of trouble 🙏😄🙏
Namaste Meister!!
Richard Lionheart 👍😎🏹🇫🇷
Great videoes as always, have you done a video yet on using arrows designed for war with broadheads and other tips ? your thoughts, I have a few of different designs, would appreciate your take.
The picture of the peaceful warrior archer with his bow being surrounded by butterflies was perfect.
You finally have time thank you
2 fletched arrows with modified nocks helps a LOT to speed shoot, since you don't have to align the third feather. Armin, please do another video on this topic!
You answered my question. I was wondering which bow it was that you were shooting lol. Nice looking bow :)
I like the sound that Bow makes
The ones I make tear through the air, love that sound, no good for hunting as the prey would hear them coming but otherwise 👍, not tested long range but at 30 feet I'm hitting just as accurate as the Chinese carbon arrows I get 😊
I love your videos, quality knowledge. Thank you so much. I want to buy one for horseback one day, I am saving for one around 300-400 euros.
The two fletched arrows look like they funnel a bit in flight. They look the same from the back in flight as one of my 3 fletched with some damage one one fletching. Definitely usable though lol.
Just found out I've been shooting ottoman all these months, but I think I do it a bit different... I can easily hold 8 in my draw hand (4 between pinky and ring, 4 between ring and middle)and the shafts tuck in my armpit through the draw, so the arrowheads stick way out of the strings path... takes a bit of practice, but its fun.
Thank you so much very educational I enjoyed it a lot interesting
String twisting with slav-draw will increase the power a bit, but it will also make your string oscillate more and result in poor arrow flight. Instead you want to have the hook in an angle; middle finger on the middle pad and ring finger on the distal pad (little finger where it reaches) and rotate your forearm when you release. You do not want preload it as a twist. It takes time to figure it out, but it will make your shot fast and clean.
When I specifically work on my release, my thumb points downwards and touches my shoulder, and my fingers are flexed at the end point of the release.
String twisting with slavic will also result in very uncomfortable calluses.
Ok so with the Slavic release you have the index finger over the arrow, so what is it with the Russian "dagger" technique? I've tried but can never understand what keeps in there. I've seen and commented on other videos where they shoot it really well but it's making even less sense the more I look into it. The draw, anchor and so forth. For example do you use the thumb somehow along with the fingers to keep the arrow down?
4” or 5” Shield dual arrows work quite well. I make mine w/ 2 degree left helical. Straight shooters.
Can someone explain me what the mechanics of string twist, why it improves arrow flight?
i shoot homemade crocked bamboo arrows with horrible fowl and crow fleshing , i shoot off the right side of the bow using a "pinch draw" (index finger above the arrow on the right side , middle finger below the arrow on the right side both somewhat laying on the arrow but still gripping the string, and thumb on the left side of the arrow gripping the arrow) i typically shoot 4-5 arrows at a time and hold them in my draw hand right above the fleshing(not the end by the knock) i tried string twist today , however i actually twist away from the bow... it increased arrow stability/acuracy . Thanks!
Question about a thumb ring i got, its a bronze one with a lip on it, i ordered it and had my thumb sized by a jeweler, however i find my thumb in alot of pain after shooting around 50 arrows, with my thumb bleeding under the skin on the pad of my thumb and the knuckle very sore as well. Do i just need to train my thumb or is there something i can do to the ring?
How much # did you shoot? Start with low # until your thumb gets used to. Always tricky even if measured right to have the right fit
Hi Armin! great video! short question, if an arrow loose the tip (broken and yes, I am a beginner and miss the target :) ) is it possible to put a new one? Obviously the arrow will be shorter but still works, right?
@@ArminHirmer Thanks Armin! I just beginning with thumb release (following your videos) and already have a small callosity and no pain. Do you recommend a ring or is it better without one so I can pay more attention to the technique?
@@diepaisa you can put some bandage around or vet tape, or go with a thumb ring
Cool vid! Question, longbows. Do you have a preference?
I am not a longbow guy :) if then something like I shot today, a reflex reflex hybrid
I've seen 3 fletched arrows where 2 are 180 degrees apart and the 3rd one is 90 degrees from the other two so that there are no feathers touching the bow when the arrow goes through the arrow pass, what do you think about them?
They were used and most probably when shooting med it is beneficial. For me as thumb shooter it does not matter :)
What is the fastest way to shoot an arrow from a quiver i with the Mediterranean style? (Speed shooting)
2 and 4 feathers have the benefit that they naturaly align arrows next to them so you can speed load easier with arrows between index and thumb.
Btw did you try to shot mediterian with thumb finger on the top of the arrow (instead index finger) ?
@@ArminHirmer makes loading release very smooth with release hand arrow loading technics, can get thumb and mediterians technics with one rock.
I have a question: what is the fastest speed loading with the Mediterranean style ( arrow on the left side )
thx mate! ))
When I shoot mediterranean the arrow (sometimes) jumps out of place. Since twisting isn’t a good option what do you advise? Thanks
Coming from mediterrane draw. I don't understand that stringtwist. For what is it good?
I build myself some 2 fletched arrows, but the flight of those arrows was quite wild and unstable. I used 2 fletches in a "Saubuckel" shape. Not sure if it was my technique or the arrow. Th 3 fletched ones worked well. Do you have an idea what the problem might have been?
Are you putting helical twist on your fletching? I do and get good rotation and nice arrow flight
No Helix on the fletching, i think i will just try again when possible. Thanks for the replies!
I see.. can you draw with the thumb a 120lb+ longbow? and hold heavy arrows that weigh like a chain and still be accurate? ..
but nice for sport
You do a lot of videos these days, I don't know why but the russian technique seem natural for me even in thumb release. Have you done any video about that?
@@ArminHirmer amazing how traditional archery is rich, when i started it, i thought it was just fun, but thanks to your channel i know see a whole universe XD
Would two feather fletched arrows fit in a quiver better allowing for more arrows and un-ruffled feathers 🤔
@@ArminHirmer yes they can be quivered right next to each other . I can fit twice as many in the quiver. Used large feathers and they where surprisingly accurate even though the feathers are amateurish with a slight helical twist 👍
They do rip the air quite loudly and slice your thumb if not enough string twist but they look good , go well and quiver compactly 🙂. Thank you for the education as always 🙏
Hi, ¿which culture does “wolverine” style comes from? …¿Is it Otoman, as well?
After a Parcours String twist make my skin come of my index finger
Agreed, a lot of hype and fear mongering out there!
Audio is broken =(
@@ArminHirmer Yes, actually not broken, it is too low volume i guess. Can't hear anything even with my laptop in max volume
=(
Hi
Yahya. A hi or hi bro might not be the way of communicating. Thank you. have any questions or want to comment, fine :)
Thank you so much!for this video. Here at our Texas Archery club they have tried that technique but at a distance it is inconsistent. Well it will be lack of practice. We have only seen in the Caribbean a You Tuber Archer who uses that technique and shoots from a distance 20 meters and 30 meters and apparently it works for him. We have to try to practice more seriously. Thanks for making videos Monday.
