  • This video covers the basics of Gregtech (Community Edition aka GTCE) power.
    (Your mileage may very, updates may happen, you might be on a different version of Gregtech, TEST YOUR STUFF.)
    A listed form of tips and tricks:
    1. Never use a cable/wire that is lower voltage than your sources of power, else things will go Zzzt. Transformers do exist to solve this problem as well.
    2. Wire, or uninsulated cable, can Zap you. Be careful!
    (16x Cable can't have facades, but 16x Wire can, and Facades count as insulation from zapps)
    3. Gregtech checks individual sources of power for Amperage issues, not the whole system.
    4x CEF attached to 1x Cable? Zzzt!
    Twenty 4x CEFs attach to 4x Cable? All good!
    Unmentioned in the video:
    1. Electric Blast Furnaces (EBFs) and other MultiBlock structures use Energy Input Hatches which can accept 2 amps of power.
    2. EBFs and other structures can also multiple Energy Input Hatches to effectively give them more power. 2 LV Energy Input Hatches can use 4 Amps of LV Power, which is 128 Volts, effectively achieving MV status.
    Did I miss something you want added? I'll add it to the description and possibly make a 'more advanced' video. The issues addressed in this one was focused on common problems observed in the discord.

    Great video Creeta, I remember talking with you a lot when I used to play FTB:Interactions. One thing to note, the amperage limit from sources only applies for GTCE, if you're playing GT:NH with GT5u, this will cause..... issues. Wanted to bring this up in case anybody playing GT:NH stumbled upon the video!

      Yes! Very true. And even some of the tricks covered by this video may or may not get patched. 🙃

      Glad it helped! Keep in mind that Mod Developers are currently in the process of correcting that AMPs multiple source thing as apparently it's a bug, and that you should still test things to make sure it functions the way you expect. Zzztz may still occur.

      I'm terribly sorry for now seeing this earlier. And I hope that it's been figured out... It needed an MV electrolyzer and you were likely using an LV one.

      @@Creeta I hadn't heard about gregtech before, and I wasn't expecting such a helpful video, I was expecting to have to search some Reddit posts that made a decent explanation, and still have to do some testing to figure it out, but just this video was enough to start playing around with some confidence that nothing will explode

    I'm still kind of confused by how AMP's work. Am I correct if I say that a 4xLV cable = 4x32EU LV = 128EU LV ? And if say 2 machines use 50EU LV combined at the same time, I would have 78EU LV left over for other recipies on other machines? I understand that I can't supply more APM's than what a cable can handle, but I need to know when I need 16x cable etc.

    • @Creeta
      @Creeta  Před rokem +1

      It's possible you might be running a different version of the mod(s), or you're trying with non compatible mods to transfer power. Gregtech cables don't like hooking up to Thermal Expansion machines for example.

    • @Creeta
      @Creeta  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Sorry for the long wait on a reply. It's been a while since I tinkered around with this version of GT but I believe that these machined were not overclockable. If you put them on a line with too much power, bad things happened. If you gave them too little power they either didn't run or ran slow. The pack I was working with thankfully had some strange tricks to bypass a lot of the limitations and somehow still worked.

      It gets easier with time. And sometimes giving up trying to understand it makes sense, as I will occasionally just use a CEF on every machine, rather than any wiring. 😅

    Why none of you Minecraft youtubers play the official Gregtech 6?
    The community edition is made from older versions of Gregtech that I would play back in 2015.
    Forget the basic packs everyone plays, and create, or load a GT6 pack.
    You'll have content for years.

    • @Creeta
      @Creeta  Před rokem +3

      Do GT6 packs include massive mod integration like Nomifactory or FTB:I?
      To answer you question though, I personally consider those extremely good fun and this video was to answer questions that I struggled with in those respective packs. I have been hankering for a new pack to play and hoping to also have some recording time to be able to do so.

    • @JoTheVeteran
      @JoTheVeteran Před rokem

      @@Creeta You don't need massive mod integration. GT6 by itself is a MASSIVE mod. You'll need months to finish it. The one I play currently has NEI of course, and a few other mods. And you also can add your own quality of life mods, those are fine. I wouldn't add a huge one though, like Thaumcaft, even though there is integration with that one. That would make the game unnecessary complex.
      I can understand you enjoy the community edition packs. I did 8 years ago with the official FTB unstable, and I did play the community pack once in an omnifactory server. I'm just informing you that GT6 has much, much more than those packs.
