    There were no lines drawn last nite with that 1st goal. Nothing came up on the screen about VAR validation. The commentators did not mention that VAR check cleared the goal. I found it strange at the time. From my point of view KDB shoulder looked to be ahead of the closest Spurs defender.

    The problem with var besides the obvious lack of competent officials behind var is their process of operating,when and what incidents they intervene. The other issue these onfield guys are almost deferring to var and var is showing that they aren't trying to show up their mates so they need to revamp that

    • @eddietee6305

    So naturally, players are going for more transfer fees now, than back then.

    VAR rules different in England.
    In England, its clear and obvious error they can change.
    They can't look for yellow card fouls.
    But some of them are just incapable of doing VAR properly.

    So in the VAR results chart I counted there were 31+ decisions and 32- decisions (and the 32- decisions were among only 4 clubs); notably, only 13 of 20 clubs were included. I do not understand how these results were calculated, and I'd like to better understand what the data mean.

    On the VAR: I echo some of the sentiments here in the comments. The technology is obviously not an issue - although some upgrades and QoL things can be added. Issues live in the processes and methodologies that the officiating body use when administering the technology. I don’t believe we can go back to pre-VAR: we’ve reached a real high level of ‘alright can’t argue with that’ decision making. The anger is strictly because PEOPLE are making poor decisions even while having longer decision windows and more information (within those processes and methodologies). We have to improve the training, the quality control, and the accountability. As an aside, I think another positive of VAR is that the conversation around decisions and rules has become common - which is good! Officiating and rules and etc etc should not be a black box; we should understand it.
    On the transfers: I’m not sure if I rate Sekso. But, I am more so excited about players that I might not think a good fit. He does look like a player that SHOULD be able to knock in the chances we are creating as of late. Will have to watch more, tbh. And, I think that there is a chance to have a real video game type summer. There should be a number of outgoings (I will be surprised if not, we did not use our depth imo), so naturally we will also need to replenish those spaces that are vacated. Is it crazy to think that Bruno G, Isak, Simons, Sesko, and Hato are all realistic? Time will tell.
    Sound show, as usual.

    I had the spuds match on my to but wasn’t paying any real interest in it so can’t comment on offside. I did however think that the penalty looked iffy as I thought the spuds defender played the ball first but var didn’t even seem to have done any real checks on it and commentators said nothing

    You make some good points about VAR Tom, personally I think it should be scrapped, it just doesn't suit football, it works for rugby because its more stop start.
    But I would definitely bring in an AI automatic offside system, that's easy as long as they change the biased and broken offside rule in the first place. No more offside because the attacking player is a shoe size bigger than the last defender rubbish. Offside should be when the attacker has a proper advantage against the last defender.

    • @ethanpaki988
      @ethanpaki988 Před 20 dny +3

      Offside is offside.. it’s one of the only rules in football that is black and white.

    • @gladiatorscoops4907
      @gladiatorscoops4907 Před 20 dny

      @@ethanpaki988 Except currently its biased. The example I always give: you could have one player the size of Peter Crouch against someone the size of Kante, they are both running after a through ball, their bodies could be exactly in line with each other yet Crouchy could be deemed offside because his leg in one stride would reach further out than a much small player like Kante despite them technically being in line with each other. So that means its biased towards the smaller player - so it doesn't work and needs to be changed.

    Let’s not make any more excuses.
    The league was in our hands a few weeks ago and we crumbled again under the pressure!
    This is not to say that we’re not better than last year or that we’ve not improved…..we HAVE! But to beat City, it requires perfection and nerves or steel.
    Not unlike what we say against Villa (on the same day that Liverpool lost at home to Palace)…..that was due to a mental fragility; or what we saw against Man United (horrible horrible performance for a team fighting for the title). That was mental fragility and weakness as well.
    We’re not far though; indeed we’re very close. A couple more pieces to this puzzle and we should be able to get over the line next season, if if if Arteta acts smartly in the market (and with the current deadwood)!

    • @TheGoonerTalkTV
      @TheGoonerTalkTV  Před 20 dny

    You spend so much money introducing this VAR technology, and arguably rushed it without doing due diligence beforehand. Now instead of making it better, you're making the same mistake by rushing to a conclusion once again to scrap it, they are treating this league as a joke! It is very easy for them to deflect responsibility by pointing towards technology, or without it prior, as reasons to blame for the shortcomings. In no way or form do they ever look at themselves the referees. I'm sorry for it sounding like a rant but this is just how I see it. For me just stick with it and own up on the decision you made, and make it work somehow.
