- This week we go to the beach side town of Unawatuna in South Sri Lanka! It's where Kristina lived during curfew (quarantine) before we met, so we check out the place she spend those 3 months, play a bit of UFC on Playstation, grab lunch at our favorite coffee shop in all of Sri Lanka, and start the day with a dip into the ocean on Kristina's 2nd ever time going scuba diving!

Long history for the villages named Unawatuna and Ruumassala. According to myth and as per epic Ramayanaya, before around 6,000 years there was a battle between Indian king Rama and Lankan king Rawana. During the battle Laxmana (Brother of king Rama) got injured. Then they send Hanuman (One of the leader of King Rama's army) to himaalaya of India to bring specific plants to cure him. But after visiting the Himaalaya, Hanuman forgot the name of the plants. He didn't have a solution and he decided to bring the small part of the specific area of himaalaya mountain with the help of a White magic power of a wise educated teacher. While transporting the part of the mountain, 02 pieces were fallen to Unawatuna and Ruumassala. What ever the truth of the story, Some scientists say, there are some specific plants in the area similar to Plants in the Himaalaya of India.

Do you know Dallawella Beach? Been there last year and saw so many big turtles coming to the beach and we could feed them. One of the best experiences we had last year when we visited Sri Lanka. We stayed at Januka Beach house next to the Beach.

I think due to global warming the corals have died but when I was younger there were magnificent colours in the ocean the corals were vibrant and there were plenty of fish in Sri lanka

The environment is destroyed.. Look at the depth of the sea nothing there to see. Those days lots of beautiful corals and many varieties of multicoloured fish were there. Now nothing just a empty sea bed.
Yes it's a shame to see it like that. But unsustainable fishing practices like big nets, long lines, as well as beach front development has destroyed coral reefs in many countries.
