    Rosie posie did it again. Y'all were saying back in 2020 how Rosie is the one member that could have a career as a solo singer, writing and singing songs. So here it is. Let's support her now. She deserves our support and then some. Btw, don't hold your breath about BP comebacks. The girls currently have other career priorities as they should. If you want the YG sauce, replace the P with M and enjoy the music. 🖤🩷

      BP will be back... prolly next year, giving them this full year for solo activities while YG focuses on BM's rookie year. YG did NOT shell out all that money to get them back to not have them ever release music again.

    I don’t know what YG was doing or maybe it was the girls choice but it seems like Blackpink is taking a huge step backwards when they should be striking while the iron was hot. No matter how much solo stuff they do, it is as a group where they shine the brightest and I think they’ve forgotten that. It really saddens me how much lesser known groups have stayed together and made music longer than they have. I suppose it opens the door for Babymonster to step up and fill the void

    • @TEAM__POSEID0N
      @TEAM__POSEID0N Před 8 dny +1

      It's kind of the pattern for YG. Even though Blackpink has been the most commercially and globally successful group in YG's history, YG is in reality replacing them with Babymonster. There can be some overlap for a few years, but YG almost always phases out senior groups, as the members get older. And YG simply does not do solo careers well. In the past there was an attempt (Gummy, Lee Hi, Se7en...), but solo artists are not a priority for YG and never have been. It's only due to BP's success that Babymonster is actually able to get priority attention now. (In the past, GGs were a much lower priority than the boy groups). The girls could not get any contractual commitment for their solo careers on decent terms and probably realized that BP as a group probably only has, realistically, one or two more years of activity left at YG. It's obvious that they have an arrangement with YG to mostly be quiet (with no group activity) in 2024, so that YG can focus on Babymonster. It's just the way it is at YG. It is a step backwards...huge...for BP. Fortunately, the members were smart enough to perceive their situation correctly. Even now, they seem to be controlled or limited by YG. I'd love to see exactly what's in their group contract, which each of them signed.

    • @mikkj1
      @mikkj1 Před 8 dny +3

      People were saying the same thing before The Album, and before Born Pink. The "In Your Area" tour broke the K-pop GG record, and the Born Pink tour broke the GG world record. I'm pretty sure they'll be fine. BTW, who's the #1 GG in the world?

    • @mikkj1
      @mikkj1 Před 8 dny +4

      @@TEAM__POSEID0N
      You also have to look at the reality of K-pop GG's longevity. Even if this is a 3 year contract, they'll all be in their 30's when it's over. They've talked about wanting to get married and have kids. That might work with a large group, where one or two members could sit out for a year, but not with a 4 member group. Solo artists can set their own schedule, and International artists often sit out for years, or at least a year.. I'm pretty sure YG tried desperately to sign BP to solo contracts, but BP wanted that to be in their hands, not YG.
      And, of course YG is focusing on the future, but I'd bet that they'd hang on to BP as long as they could - you don't dump a cash cow like BP if you can help it. I'm convinced that how all of this worked out was on BP's terms, not YG's = they had all the leverage.

    • @TEAM__POSEID0N
      @TEAM__POSEID0N Před 8 dny +2

      @@mikkj1 "You also have to look at the reality of K-pop GG's longevity." Yeah, that's basically what I'm talking about. I'm just saying that YG is also looking at it that way and probably was not willing to commit to much of anything for solo activities of the BP members in the future and only for a few years more for the group. As you pointed out, the members also probably want to put themselves in a better position to survive and thrive in careers that would not require them to depend on YG. Think about Dara and CL from 2NE1. Both of them re-signed exclusive solo contracts with YG in 2016...and YG did very little for them after they re-signed. That kind of tells me that YG was unwilling to commit to a specific number of promotions, comebacks, music videos, etc. So all they got really from their new contracts was a long period of limitations and restrictions. We don't know what exactly was negotiated with BP, but I doubt that YG was willing to give up total control over them if they signed solo contracts...and the BP members are certainly aware of how other senior artists ended up wasting precious years in a similar situation.

    • @redflamelcd
      @redflamelcd Před 8 dny +1

      Look in the end they still re-signed as a group so we should be expecting music in the future if I'm not mistaken. Although I like their solo work, it really is as a group that made them popular and where they combine to make up for what each one lacks. Lisa is a great dancer and performer but honestly if she just put out a rap album I wouldn't be that interested. Rosé has an amazing voice but as seen with her solo work, in isolation her voice can get tiring. She sounds way better when it is contrasted by the other members voices. It's like how smelling something strong is unique at first but once your nose gets used to the smell, you don't notice it as much.
      I would certainly agree the step back they have taken has paved the way for Babymonster to step forward and I think that's slightly intentional. I myself have really fallen into the rabbit hole to the point where I flew to another country to attend the recent fan meets and likewise I think a huge proportion of their support comes from Blinks. I mean when I think of longevity I instantly think of a group like girls generation. Blackpink aren't old but they aren't young either especially for today's standards where every company is competing to debut insanely young girls. Newjeans and then Illit. That's probably why even in their mid 20s you think they are old lol.

      @TEAM__POSEID0N Před 8 dny +1

      Yes. Nothing has changed in that regard. It's not even clear that it's an exclusive contract with TBL. To a large extent even the companies of the other three BP members are mainly for legal/corporate reasons. They still have to contract with various companies and service providers to do anything. But it makes more sense to have a company and staff representing them and handling a lot of the tedious details, so that Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo, as the case may be, can focus on their work at a higher level. (Kind of the same way that Yang Hyun Suk appointed his younger brother to handle the day-to-day busy management work at YG as CEO, so that YHS can focus more on big-picture things.) Rosé's situation really isn't much different. Instead of creating her own management company, she'll use TBL as her management company. There may be big advantages, depending on what's in their contract. She'll have to pay them percentages or something. But Jennie, Lisa and Jisoo also have to pay salaries to the people who work for their companies.

    I’m happy for Lisa, Rosé and Jennie to have their own labels as Koreans will not like them do what they wanted to achieve for themselves. It is great that the ladies and YG came out with a win win situation for them. Blackpink still maintain in YG as they are still KPop artists together.

      I doubt that any of the BP members really had any choice. If they did not leave YG for their individual activities...they probably would not have any individual activities. That's how YG does things. YG is thinking of a business plan for the next 10 years...not the next 2 years. For the next 10 years, the main focus will be Babymonster (and after 7 years, most of them will be in the same situation that BP is in now), as Blackpink will be phased out with maybe only one or two more significant comebacks. If any of the members had any confidence that YG would seriously promote the Blackpink members' individual careers instead of just locking them up and preventing them from doing anything, they would most likely have chosen to remain with YG. In all likelihood, YG made it clear that there would be no contractual commitment to any significant solo activities for the BP members in the years ahead and probably not much for the group either. YG is thinking 10 years ahead to a time when BP is completely gone or inactive as a group. The BP members also have to think 10 years ahead for the sake of their own careers and future. Everyone knows that YG eventually gets rid of all of their older artists. (That's why there are currently NO Big Bang members under YG anymore.)

    • @TEAM__POSEID0N
      @TEAM__POSEID0N Před 8 dny +1

      Loyalty and gratitude should be a two-way street...not a one-way street. You seem to think the BP members have some kind of one-way obligation to stay at YG, even if YG refuses to commit to invest in significant future activities for their careers. The BP members recently spent a very exhausting year earning record profits for YG through the 2022~23 concert tour (70 performances in 24 different countries). Most likely, YG refused to contractually commit to giving them support, promotions, investment and creative freedom in the future for any solo activities and only minimal commitment to the group, meaning that if they stayed completely under YG's control they could end up watching all of their potential for future careers be wasted. Why do you think Taeyang also went to The Black Label? YG's history tells senior artists that they can expect to be ignored if they stay at YG, no matter how much they did for YG in the past.
