    Hey, I'd like to say that your video really helped me get my 96 Yamaha running again after a couple of knuckle heads flipped it then tried to run it. One thing that I did that helped me as well was to take off the carburetors intake cover and shut off the choke to give as much air going in as possible. I also used some SeaFoam right in the cylinders. Thanks again for you helpful video.

    So I removed the spark plugs, (next day bought new ones) flushed out the water from the pistons by turning the engine on, only during 15 seconds at a time not to damage the starter. Put some WD40 and used compressed air to get rid of any unwanted water remaining in the shaft. Filled up the piston holes with mix fuel and put in the new spark plugs, plugged her up and hit the ignition, 1, 2, 3 she started up and had her running.. Stopped the engine and started her up again on 1st try.. Hope this helps you out. Seadoo 2005 sportster.. (fresh water) sunk..

    This video is awesome! Flipped my buddies Kawasaki Ultra 300x. The seat flipped off and took on water too fast for me to flip it back. The whole thing would have sunk if it wasn't for the bubble in the nose. We drained all the water out, changed oil, checked spark plugs. Let it sit for a day with a fan on it. The next day it wouldn't turn over then realized sensor in the motor will not allow to turn over engine if water is in the engine. We were going to take it in and have the shop take apart of the engine! =o During all this I lost my phone for about a day. Found it then found this video. Immediately went out cleaned out the spark plugs with some acetone and rag. Cranked the ignition without plugs and man oh man. It was crazy how much water was in the engine. It was like a geyser...lol. Did this for an hour or 2 raising and lowering the ski on the trailer to make sure and get it all. Let it sit for another 2 hours or so with fan on engine. Then we cranked it up for about 2 seconds. Trailered it out to the water and it was rough for about 15 mins. It would stall and studder. Eventually though as I got the rpms up it started to run better and better. Then boom good as new! Saved Memorial Weekend 2018! Thanks! Man I love this video!

      I get almost drowned hoti me chest in water with the Motorcycle under me, I accidentally entered water logged underpass. Instantly Engine stalled, I checked for water entry in cylinder by cranking the engine, and yes water was in cylinder. I follow the same procedure pulling out spark plug, crank engine manually, squertimg out water . cleaning the spark plug, reinstall it. Then after that remove water from carburetor by lossing the drain screw at the bottom of Carb.
      But Alass !! Engine doesn't start. It's spattering for few seconds, with black smoke out of the exhaust , then stalls again.
      Then I rethink to find out the culprit . So how does the water get inside the cylinder ? So the water must be entered through air-intake Of air box then through air filter ( make it soaking wet ) then through the Carburetor and then finally in engine.
      May be wet air filter is creating the problem . So I pull out the Air hose between air box and carb. Wollaah
      Bike stared in just 1 second. Drive to home with direct air intake. Latter cleaned the whole air-intake system, dried the filters . Ready for another Ride ( on Dry Roads )

    Take off spark plugs
    Try to take all the water most I can
    And flushed oil
    Do new oil and oil filter
    And get back to the water
    Run the jet ski for 15 minutes
    And get out to the lake
    Check oil and was some water mixed with the oil still
    What else I need to do to take all the water out from the oil
    Or what I have to add in to the oil to clean up all the water residues
    Let me know

    hope you can help! Won an older jet ski (95 SeaDoo XP) … had trouble gettting it started, but finally did, got it out into the cove.. and it died… killed the battery trying to start it again, so jumped off and swam it to shore.. by the time I got to shore, realized it was also gettting lower in the water.. turns out the VTS boot is leaking (at least I think that is the problem, there is water coming out from behind the vts cover, and there is rust on the components when I take the vts cover off) badly.. by the time I got it to shore and tied up and went to get tools and came back, water was up to nearly the top of the motor… bailed it out, took the battery out, took the spark plugs out.. and now have towed it back across the cove to the boat ramp and have it home… its been a week…. Has it been too long? Can I still do the turning it over with the spark plugs out to get it to expel water? Oil mixed in gas, so is there a risk of water in the gas? Should I drain the gas/oil mix and put fresh gas in before I try and do anyting at all?

      What happened this just happened to mine some hose was off and something was loose and I can't tell where the water came in mine won't start it will crank but this just happened 1hr ago have you got your too run and what have you done since

    • @SthrnShutterbug
      @SthrnShutterbug Před 2 lety

      @@danielm16345 mine ended up having 2 leaks, first was the drain plug... the plug was new, but the plug base was cracked, so the plug wasnt sealing.. so that was letting water in. But the biggest leak was the VTS boot... if youre looking at the butt-end of the ski.. the VTS rod is on top of the pump Housing/... warning that this did lead to a series of repairs.. in order to get the old boot off and the new boot on, i had to remove the pump housing.. got the boot replaced just fine, but realized when i had the housing off that my wear ring was TRASH... ordered new wear ring, but cant get the old one out by tapping on it from the back side.. so ill have to cut it out,, which means removing the impeller.. which means i need one of those little funky toosls that go in the splines to remove the impeller shaft.. in other words.. its still sitting on my lawn.. torn apart.. one of these days ill get back around to fixing it.. Another thing you need to look out for is on the exhaust .. where the exhaust hose exits through the hull.. check to make sure there are no leaks there, but there are also one, possibly two (depending on a lot of stuff).. little drain tubes .. about the size of your pinky finger.. that T into the through-hull exhaust port (dont know if im using the correct terminology)... make sure that those hoses are in good shape, and connected to where they are supposed to go.

    • @SthrnShutterbug
      @SthrnShutterbug Před 2 lety

      also, things i learned to do if you got water in the engine compartment area.. especially if it was up over or near the spark plugs and or air box etc .. first get the water out.. there should be a sign on the back of the ski that also says to roll the ski to the left if water gets in the hull like that... i wasnt able to roll it all the way on its side like youre supposed to by myself, but a friend told me i Had to get the water out of the engine.. so to remove both spark plugs, and then hit the start button, repeatedly.. water will shoot out so stand back a bit.. dont hold the start button down, but just press it repeatedly till pretty much all the water is out.. and then, especially if you arent going to be able to fix it and get it running right away. take and pour a couple ounces of the 2 stroke oil into the spark plug holes.. if you dont, things will rust QUickly
