2019 We are still here
Tan Dun is one of the most impressive Chinese composers of all time, and one of the best living composers today.
The Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra certainly deserve the name of the best chinese orchestra in the world
i personally think this is better than london's... i've never heard a chinese orchestra be able to play so organized and flow like this before. this beats the videos of chinas national orchestra when they performed in vienna. i'm left speechless
I was so surprised at how full the sound was, just like a regular orchestra
Absolutely love it! With traditional Chinese instruments, it even sounds better and somehow more 'authetic' than being performed by western instruments. Brilliant. Congrats to HK Chinese Orchestra.
The Video director is top notch. I think he's also a Musician. If not how can the shots be so in sync with all the attacks? It's wonderful to see a Chinese Orchestra play this.
I like how the orchestra treats this music with the utmost seriousness; you an see it in their expression, although it might not be in their usual repertoire
astonishing and sooo moving! Well done!
This version certainly has more novelty than the original one.
music has no boundary !
West + East music !
Good work !
This version is sensational! I heard both versions now, and I enjoyed this way better, I felt they played more heartily.
i LOVE how they use chinese instruments its
breathtaking
so awesome.
The guqin is noted for its exceptional sound qualities: quietly reverberating, yet poignant and profound, making the instrument richly expressive. Historically, the instrument has been highly regarded since ancient times. It is a symbol of literati temperaments, of aesthetics and of intellectual taste. The story about Bo Ya and Zhong Ziqi has made the guqin piece, High Mountains and Flowing Water, famous for thousands of years.
The "organ pipes" are known as 笙 (sheng) - mouth organs played by depressing buttons and/or levers.
Revisiting this 22 June 2016
this song suits chinese orchestra as well :D
3:32 is so amazing. Its like this feeling deep inside of me that was culminating just comes out, I can't describe it, but the first time I listened to this arrangement for this orchestra I literally let out tears of happiness. Great job HKCO! Still listening to it in 2011.
Wow, this is better than Tan Dun's orchestrated version.
chinese traditional instruments can really play almost all kind of music from all over the world.
i prefer this Chinese version to the original one, like : 二胡 is much life than violin, and HKCO players are putting more themselves into the song
Just everything is prefectly perfect
And hearing this makes life worth living.
i don't know abt you,but it sounds to me like the love between sunrise and nature, and the beginning of a new day from dusk.
An unusual find in You Tube of such extraordinary performance by a remarkable symphony orchestra. I love it!
Dear Mr. Huichang:
The quickened pace toward the end for additional climactic affect
is a nice touch.
I'm simply stunned.
LIBFX
Totally loved it, Hope your orchestra goes on tour and stops off in Kansas City, I will tell everyone I know to come!!!
I like this version waaaayy better than the other ones.
Veramente originale il risultato timbrico dell'orchestra! Ok!! bravi!!
I really like this version better than the LSO version. The traditional Chinese instruments fit the parts and are way cooler than normal instruments.
a very amazing chinese orchestra... can play like the symphony... the music is very nice... haha,i like it...
wonderful combination of Chinese and Western music instruments/elements... One of a kind. Nice tone quality and unity! Great job!
appreciate the response.
Believe it or not. This version is better than the original!
Really interesting with those foreign instruments. Nice arrangment.
lol i love the expression of the timpani guy
Great work ! proud of Chinese !
Plus the staggato bit at he end was great!
do u guys know this songs has been selected to play at 2008 Beijing Olympics (Hong Kong Equestrian Event)during award ceremonies! wonderful!
i play the violin but i must say
CHINESE MUSIC RULE SOMETIMES.
3:46 sent shivers down my spine.
i am proud of my hometown hong kong.
Now, the last comment (not spamming actually.)
I think the solemn "Eroica" theme in this piece is saying
we're all hero's.
Beethoven wrote this for royalty but was fervently populist.
He much embraced Napoleon only until the latter's nature
showed itself more.
This piece removes the ego and replaces it with democracy.
It's the Gehu made of eco-friendly PET instead of python skin. It's one of the instruments of our Eco-Huqin series. The sound texture will not be affected by change of weather and humidity etc and could produce a unison sound when used among the Orchestra.
this is amazing, i love the mandolin solo more than the trumpet solo, and the the part on 2:55 sounds so angelic
Absolutely beautiful!!!
It is a great idea to use these unusual instruments for a new sound in the Internet Symphony..
omg i love it so much
this version is funnier, i love it
這個版本更有趣﹐ 車水馬龍﹐ 鍋碗瓢盆﹐ 外加一個很適合拿來打小孩的響尺﹐ 熱鬧了一個
Just another spectacular !
Such amazing! My tears nearly came out when I listen to this.
非常棒的國樂版本,This is an awesome Chinese instrument version,幹得好!
Beautiful song by an amazing orchestra
我以觀看多次,令人沉醉!!! 叫人着迷!!!
wow....though...brilliant arrangement for all nonstandard instruments
I am so lucky to hear this on This wonderful day..in My life
I enjoy and sailing towards planets
Alagarsamy
India
the cello like instrument called "Gehu", the double-bass like called "Diyigehu/Digehu/Beigehu". CMIIW =] i rele love this version!!!! XD
can i say.......FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to give my own music appreciation critique and then
leave before I overstay my welcome.
This merges West and East and then both of those with nature.
But then it's more. It's enchanting.
So it leaves you with a prospect of a chance to grow specially.
This is very special music.
Have a nice day.
Beautifully Performed!
太讚了!!
用耳機听的感覺更好~~
听得我血脈澎湃
^_^

You have very keen eyes my friend

I always loved Hong Kong, (my home land)
It puts a smile on my face. This version is better than the western one! Thumbs up! HKCO!
If music is living information, then information is also sensual (and sensuous.)
This piece includes both anticipation and climax AND
tension and relief.
It's not long, but it's a masterpiece.
Oh my god!!! It's aweeeeeeeeesome!!!!!
wow....it is very powerful ! We miss you all!!!
Howard and Ivy
It is capable of covering more than a hundred harmonics, making it unique in all instruments of the world. Notation of guqin music is in the form of a tablature, the oldest of which dates back to more than 1,500 years ago. The extant tablature collections number as many as 150, yielding a total number of scores of over 3,000.
This was such a treat. Thank you!
It's a lot more emotional than the other version!
It's meaningful to compare this with the one played by the London Symphony Orchestra. This play is dominated by strings while the other is by horns.
its totally awesome! i liked the symphonic one, but this is better!
unbelievably awesome ... wow extremely sensational performance
I love this version
Unbelievable! Thank you for this delight.

Amazing... I'm not an expert. I'm only an engineer, but the join of the traditional chinese intruments with the original one is awsome. I like it too too too much. Congratulations ;)
