My understanding is that Vanille de Iris by Ormond Jayne was discontinued because of those terrible IFRA restrictions that Europe instigated. The new Afrique version is the same fragrance that has been adjusted to be IFRA compliant, which is why it's so familiar
Hi there! Yes I’ve heard that since I made the video. But apparently Linda specifically changed up the formula enough so it wouldn’t be a dupe or re release. But I think it’s splitting hairs . ❤️😉😉
It’s nice to hear honest reviews. So many reviewers give glowing reviews to all Amouge scents. Most people aren’t going to like them.
I agree they can be super tough! Like a part of the perfume is nice and a part is too much. Same with Guidance. I thought the opening was not good, but the dry down is gorgeous!
Amouage is usually overhyped, but to my nose Love Delight was a beautiful floral scent.
Yeah. I got attacked for saying that Guidance was boring, not worth $400 and that the new CK Euphoria EDT was better. (Which it is 😁)

Thanks for mentioning similarities between BDK 312 Saint-Honore with L’eau Papier which I absolutely adore. I also love Queen of Silk but decided to wait a bit for a few months to get it. I finally saw Harrods carrying it a couple weeks ago and that’s when I purchased it, even with shipping, I still saved a lot. I bet Jomashop will have it in a few more months.

Thank you for your thoughts on these newer releases! I'm surprised to hear you loved 312 Saint Honorè! I blind bought a bottle thinking I'd love it based on the profile and people saying it was similar to Leau Papier. It ended up being a catch and release! I was so bummed! I really enjoyed the opening and mid, the pink pepper and then when the orange blossom comes out, but man, the dry down killed me! The combo of musk and ambroxan just did something super weird on my skin, and I did not enjoy it at all! I heard Jaxbeautifulyou saying the same thing, so I didn't feel so bad 😂 I noticed that Lorchestre Parfums Mono Cashemir did the exact same thing to me and they both have a strong base of musk and ambroxan! Sigh.... im also hearing the same about Love Delight, but I haven't tried it yet and don't plan to anymore 😂 thanks again! ❤
Catch and release! 😆 I had only seen a few reviews on Love Delight before I did my video and they all went on and on about it being a delicious gourmand. So I thought I was a big oddball. It’s comforting to know others have had the same experience and at least I know now, my nose is not yet broken. ❤️🙌
Hi Chris! Terre d’Hermes is so good! I love it when my husband wears it. I recently tried Miss Dior Parfum at Sephora and I was shocked I liked it! The only one I’ve liked before from the confusing bunch is Blooming bouquet. ❤😘

Oh you are right. It’s a simple and pleasant perfume! But when I’m dressed casually those are typically what a pull for. Simple, fresh, nothing fancy. I also think my daughter will love it and the bottle. She’ll love it displayed on her dresser . And of course I’ll borrow it from her!! 😂

Another great video. I am not a big fan of Creed yet I was drawn to the bottle of Queen of Heart. I got a sample and I was wowed! I am not much of a heady floral type of gal, florals have to have other notes to ground the heavy florals and this definitely other stand out notes. I actually do get a soft leather touch which honestly is what wowed me. It's beautiful. My mom smelled it on me and she loved it so much I gave her my sample bottle. This is on my wishlist. I also added Gioiosa. 😊

Thanks Chris, that Gioiosa sounds wonderful! I just treated myself to a bottle of Valentino Donna Born in Roma Green. Surprised the heck out of me how much I liked it and it may be up your alley… white floral, green notes and vanilla. Per Fragrantica, its top note is Lapsang Souchong Tea; middle note is Jasmine; base note is Vanilla. I was expecting and looking for something more green but I’m truly enjoying this. On me, it doesn’t have long lasting power, but the site notes it as moderate longevity and moderate sillage. I’ll have to try the Vaseline on the wrist trick to get it to stick longer, but in the meantime loving this and still looking for a good green 😊

I agree about Love Delight. It's a great scent, a bit gourmand in the opening but to me it was mostly a sweet floral and bit too generic for the price. I did get almonds though.

Hi Chris! Is there any way you could do a video (or series of videos) on your favorite finds from Scentbird? I've really been enjoying my subscription and have found some great scents like Sugar Leather, Vanilla and Bourbon (and all of the Scents of Wood fragrances), Liis Bo, etc. But I tend to get a little overwhelmed with all of their choices. I don't see many CZcams videos on Scentbird unless they are sponsored or saying it's a scam. Would love to hear what scents you have loved from them (or other monthly fragrance subscriptions). I find these to be a great way to build my perfume collection on a budget without having to always buy full bottles. Thanks! Love your channel always!
Hi there! Yes it can be overwhelming. I def don’t think it’s a scam. It would be a scam if you purchased something and they didn’t sent a fragrance. I’ve never had that happen. I would just make a list of perfumes you want to try, then see if Scentbird carries it. Or, just set aside some time and browse the fragrances and put the ones that sound interesting on your list or calender. Anne Lauren did a video and she is one of the VERY FEW ppl who will give you an unbiased opinion even if she’s sent sponsored things or sent PR. I would trust her wholeheartedly:
Agree there are definitely differences between Vanille des Afriques and Vd’I. I have a bottle of Vd’I, I haven’t done a side by side comparison yet but it’s in the works 😊
However, despite some differences, I actually think they are also very very similar to the point where I think the newer one is actually intended to be a replacement of the former, which I think was discontinued either from restricted ingredients or not being able to source the ingredients (I can’t remember now). I actually get more florals and sweetness in the newer one and I think the former was a lot softer and more suedey. Great video Chris!
Cherie, I know you own Vanille d’Iris because I have vivid memories of you talking about it years ago ( before my YT days) and because of you I got a sample! Loved it. Well all that makes complete sense. It immediately reminded me of VdI and I knew it was very similar but I also detected differences. Those differences I was just going on memory but thanks for clarifying. ❤️

Yes!! I learned it the hard way. I don’t mind if the drive is like 15 minutes but if it’s a longer drive…lll call ahead because their online inventory is usually much better than in shop

Apparently I don't have to know everything haha I am lately in total love with discontinued fragrances and also old La Vierge de Fer by Serge Lutens.

I really like Gioisia better than Biancolatte! I agree about the little plastic note in Biancolatte. I have never tried any of the Daisy fragrances but I need to get to Sephora to give this one a sniff because I heard someone describe it as a bubble bath scent from her childhood.
I do also!! I just bought a bottle of Gioiosa today. I just decided I’d rather go with the one I loved and it doesn’t have those two things about BL that I don’t love. 😂 and it’s got that gorgeous coconut!

Love Delight, to me, smells exactly the same as Dolce and Gabbana Q Intense. I have Q Intense, and I really like it, but it definitely is not worth the Amouage price tag.
For Daisy flankers, the one I really enjoyed recently was Love Eau So Sweet. It has a wonderful spun sugar note up top, but transforms into what I feel is a good designer PDM Meliora equivalent.
I smelt Love Delight in Harrods on Thursday and thought the same, it smells VERY familiar 🤔
Also tried Steamed Rainbow in Harvey Nichols and it was a no

I agree with you on Love Delight. I actually bought it (for 50%off) , but sold it again. To me it’s strong, sharp floral to and not the sweet, smoothness I had hoped for. I CANT figure it out… I THINK its nice, but I an not really sure 😮💨😅

Sounds like we have such different tastes. I did not like 312 from BDK - it smelled like metal and granite mixed with musk. And I liked Love Delight a lot. It’s not gourmand per se - but a sweet white floral which is up my alley. It’s definitely on my list once the price comes down a bit (agree it’s not worth whatever they are asking for it now). Amouage is not a house I like but Love Delight was the only one I enjoyed. Have you tried any recent Guerlains?

You know, I have never smelled any of the Daisy line and I think I need to! I ordered a dupe perfume spray from Impressive Bliss recently, only had purchased their oils before, but I had heard so much about Dolce Garden that I had to try it. I got the spray and I really loved it. I have no idea how close it is to the original, of course, but it seems the perfect spring-summer scent. Added a Victoria's Secret Coconut Passion Body Mist to layer with it and I am already thinking about a second, larger bottle. Maybe they have a Marc Jacobs Daisy, have to check. It was hard to put down my heavier winter fragrances, but I think I'm finally getting into the spring scents. I don't much care for green fragrances, either, especially the ones that smell like we've just cut the grass. Also, I finally broke down and bought Jennifer Lopez Still, so many adore that fragrance. My first impression is lemon iced tea and it dries down just very pretty and soft. Knowing that Liam is also a tea fragrance, though spicier, I layered those on a whim and it's not too bad. I think I'm good with the spring scents, but I sure want to try one of the Daisy line. Everyone is talking about the newest release, forgot the name of it. Hey there!! You could but I feel like 312 already has that 01 vibe in there. But if you try it let me know!!! I would layer 01 with anything where I wanted to boost the musky woody aspect to a perfume. It also helps longevity. Maybe a delicate floral? Etc.
Imo: Goioisa is an amazing gourmand, potentially worth the cost. Daisy wild is better than angelique noir

Is it Twilly d'Hermes that smells like Amouge Love Delight? I think when I had a sample of Twilly, it smells orange, floral, and lots of ginger. I haven't smelled Love Delight though. Fragrantica doesn't have a "smells like" list yet (but also their website is a mess these days).

12:48 Oddly enough, I absolutely hate Daisy on me! Something about the florals in that go synthetic and sharp for me. The Perfect Intense perfume is the only one that I’ve tried and would get for myself in a full size.

@@ThePerfumeNest I haven’t had the chance to try the new flanker, but the original and all of the previous flankers had a similar sharp smell for me! The Perfect DNA goes sweeter and less harsh overall.

Hi Chris, I love it when someone comments and asks what I am wearing but sometimes it's embarrassing with the long, crazy niche names as well as company names (Middle Eastern brands often have me forgetting the names). Then there's feeling bad when they look the perfume up and see the price! Lol! In the vast majority of cases I find used bottles or buy from a discounter site which a non perfumista wouldn't necessarily know to check out. I have also been complemented on discontinued perfumes :o) oxJulia

I also dont really vibe with Creed but Queen of Silk and even moreso Carmina are beautiful. I enjoy Millesime Imperiale and Silver Mountain Water too but the longevity for the price is not worth it for me

How does Gioiosa compare to Dulcis in Fundo (if you have tried the latter)?
Dulcis gives an orange creamsicle/ candy vibe. Gioiosa is a very milky fragrance in the same ballpark as Biancolatte.
