Of course, E likes P and cares about her story, but she was a little bit extra in showing it after seening how Char was greeting and bonding with Roberta in the hall the day R left the hotel. E got jealous of C&R, but she thought that saying goodbye to R was the end of the story.
However, with Rob's repechage, that story wasn't over yet. E felt threatened by how C would interact with R at work, and thought to show her power/awesomeness to Char through Pitchy. "Are you playing with bonds? Let's see if you can make loving eyes with R. You&R are just friends, me and Pitchy, who knows?". Just to take the control back.
E&C are both competitive. And at some point, they shown their power.
Also, Char thought she has the same role of E (MGT winner and MGI 1 runner-up) just because they have worked together many times, and C got access to many exclusive experiences E had, but C didn't realized clearly she didn't win the competition as E did. She was living in a bubble with a lot of attention and opportunities, almost like the winner of the competition.
E has been very welcoming by inviting C to get more jobs. Of course they both benefited from their popularity as a duo, but E always had the winning role and for an instant she was afraid that the new working duos - E&P vs C&R - would compete against each other for popularity. R is a very loving and gentle beauty pageant. E had to show C her dominant role.
However new opportunities were opening for E, and C didn't want to lose what they/she had, acting like she will be always part of E's exclusive experiences, taking those for granted. Even participating to MGI from distance through posts, stories, and likes.
For me, here's when the distancing started.
This rivalry is quite common between "couples". It's an insane game between their egos.
It may happen when there's some frustrated attraction not fully expressed, but not necessarily, it may happen also to real lovers who have sex. It may happen to friends too.

I’ve been of the same opinion that they’re simply both trying to make each other a little jealous and evoke emotions of some sort of a “tit for tat” secret love affair , meanwhile trying to quell the fans expectations . Furthermore , I hate to be the person to say this , but I think Charlotte is also very concerned about losing engfa based on the popularity opportunities and jobs she has received off of this “ship” ,as engfa is already quite established regardless of her attachments , so lately I’ve noticed from Charlotte desperate and brave attempts to keep the flame alive . Boss nawat too is very much the captain and steering the girls to also play up the flirty cute moments again to capitalise his profits . However , I think to combat the situation they must not give power to the rumours or dramas , those who allow you to change your behaviour has power over you , I believe they should act as honestly and naturally as they should and rid their minds of this pressure to hide behave or act a certain way to illicit some sort a better result .
