All I need is a BUILT IN ACTIVE TRACK IN THE GIMBAL. Just throw in the User interface from the pocket 3 where you can tap to track people/items. This would open up so much creative shots and movements especially for solo operators. I dont want to screw around with a separate raveneye or lidar system.
For real. DJI complicates everything the way their products are half baked. RS3 Pro active track is hot garbage and the lidar wont work as the tracking model with raven eye. Why can’t DJI just plug in a tracking system on the 3 and the 4 that works like their pocket gimbals.
Great video - Quick question! Does the gimbals focus wheel have the same automated resistance as the hand units? I find it super handy on the Focus Pro hand grip and I'm looking to upgrade from the RS3 Pro if the RS4 Pro has the feature!
Yes please create a separate video on car stabilization mode! Cant wait for your findings on this. Thank you!
Awesome! Will do! Anything you'd like to see in particular? I plan on shooting the car mount video in the next week or two
@@keith-knittel I appreciate you taking the time to create the video! I am more interested in the car stabilization mode and with what system (Tilta or Movmax) would work best?!
If you use the transmission cable hub can you use the RS4 pro, Ravin eye, Lidar focus pro and focus motor with a gh6?
The FX30 doesn't show in the compatability list. I asked DJI but they said they're still testing other cameras. If you happen to have one, it'd be great to know how good they work together.
Great video!! an specific video with the FX6 and the RS4 Pro will be awesome.
@@keith-knittel specially the calibration with standar and vertical position. There are very few videos with the FX6.
Hey Keith, need your help. What gimbal would you use for Tamron 35-150 and ZV-E1? Regular RS4 or do you think RS4 Pro would have more stable footage?
Hey, I do not have any experience with the regular RS4 pro, and have not tested it out for myself yet.. so I can't really comment on which one would be better. Sorry for that underwhelming response
The BLANTONS 👌
Haha someone noticed it! Was driving through KY recently and was able to snag that at the buffalo trace distillery! I got lucky
I appreciate all of the info! where'd you get the t bracket to mount the high-bright monitor to the focus pro hand unit?
@@DarKSpiritAU these t brackets are from the original dji focus hand unit (for zenmuse and ronin cameras). i wonder if they will be releasing a newer version or something in the future. i bought the system hoping i would have access to this accessory for a mobile ac workflow
Nice setup, what is that mounting system you're using on the car? Can you provide a link for it? Thanks in advance.
Using the Tilta hydra alien advanced - added a link to the V-mount version I'm using in the description
@@keith-knittel Thank you, I'm the in-house creative for a diesel performance shop, so this might be something I'll be picking up, soon.
Hey man thanks for this video!
I’m not sure if I understood completely - are you able to use the focus pro system and control the gimbal at the same time?
For example, could you use the focus pull device on the same monitor as the hand grips for gimbal control?
Would maybe use LiDAR to set autofocus then just control gimbal use handgrips or motion control to set framing?
Is that possible?
Yo - yes you can use the focus pro hand unit to pull focus (without the monitor and you have to be within wireless range of the focus pro motors) and the monitor with DJI handles to adjust the gimbal positioning. While you technically can use multiple different focus tools (the dji monitor+handles, focus hand unit, and on the gimbal itself) to control the focus motors, you'll run into problems adjusting focus with multiple tools at the same time. For example, after calibrating the focus motors with the hand unit connected, the focus range is stored as a 1-100% value on the hand unit. So if you focus to halfway (50% on the hand unit) then adjust the focus on the DJI monitor+handles, the focus on the lens is no longer at 50%... but the hand unit does not know that. The hand unit still thinks it's at 50%. So if you go to adjust focus, the hand unit will adjust focus back to 50% - probably ruining the shot. I would only choose one method of adjusting focus and stick to that for your entire shoot - for your 1st AC's sanity too! ha
You can enable lidar af, and use active track - or use the high-bright monitor with handles to adjust the gimbal positioning. Check out the DJI focus pro section of this video for more on that.
Another note, you can't use the handles on the high-bright monitor AND have the monitor attached to the hand unit though, as there is a connection on the bottom of the high-bright monitor that connects with the cage for the DJI handles, or the bracket for the hand unit.
Sorry for the long-winded response
@@keith-knittel thank you! You are literally the only person on CZcams who has done this level of testing!
Appreciate the explanation and thank you for helping me make the decision!
Do you have the link for the new DJI Transmission Cable hub ? It doesn't seem to be listed anywhere.
I'm not seeing it anywhere yet either - the hub on the DJI site right now is the original version, but the updated hub isnt listed yet. Will try to see when that will be available
@@keith-knittel I have the original hub, so I'm aware of that, but from what I understand, that's not going to work with the DJI Focus Pro combo.
Great review! Does the transmission hub come bundled with any of the new releases (as it looks different than the original one) or is it purchased separately? I haven't been able to find it on the DJI website so maybe it's pending release?
I don't think the updated transmission hub comes bundled with anything right now, that being said I don't see it available on the DJI site at the moment. I see the original version on the DJI site right now. The version I have has an interchangable mount for powering the hub with either the RS4 Pro's USBC ports, or a D-tap. Will reach out to DJI and see what they say 👍
Also saw it and am in touch with dji but the chat say they dont know anything about it. Sended your screenshot form the video. So think that they dont want to say anything atm. Am in for the new one also. Does it work with 3 pro also?
@@StefanBastein It should work in the eco-system. Seems the only difference is the ability to remove the P-TAP power dongle to make it be powered by USB-C thus removing the need for an external battery to power everything and just draw from the DJI handle battery. Makes things more streamlined. A good improvement IMO.
@@dwhkiang yeah probably indeed. Lets hope they say more about it soon. Would be awesome eventhough I have ptap on my Komodo would love to get rid pf the old one and use this one with more options to power.
Excellent review! I really enjoyed the car shots and overall production quality. But I have to ask. What's up with the salt (10:06)?
Thanks for the kind words. And I'll just leave it at... she was "salty" ha. It was a super short film where I was testing out some lenses. More to come on that later!
My outfit felt like Morton Salt girl all grown up vibes so had to incorporate it 😂😂
Thank you both for the replies. Now I won't be laying awake at night trying to figure it out 😀
Where did you get DJI Transmission HUB? Do you know part number or model?
I've been keeping an eye on the DJI site, but it doesn't look like it's listed yet. The V1 cable hub is on the site, but this new version has interchangeable powering modes. Will try to update the pinned comment/description when DJI releases it
@@keith-knittel Can you make a detail video about Cable HUB v.2 and motor bracket, connections etc?
do you think getting the combo is necessary?
If you have manual lenses, want the raveneye, briefcase handle - the pro combo is a good choice. If your only using autofocus lenses and don't need the raveneye, the gimbal only would work
Ok thank you for your response? I just pick it up the gimbal only version… figure I will just buy the add ok separately later on as needed.. but for now just the gimbal will do most works for me
That setup just does NOT look fun to hold without a ring grip. Great video as always Keith.
It's fun, in about 10 minute increments, any longer then the easyrig comes out haha Thanks Joe!
This is very confusing - does the full follow focus unit come with the RS4 unit? This video makes it seem like it does.
Depends on which kit you buy, you can get just the gimbal or add on what you need
But they give you a follow focus unit in the combo but no way to use it to control a lens thereby making it useless. Seems redundant.
@@jamesmather7896 You can control the focus motors on the gimbal using the front dial
DJI have thought everything but the cabling routing and organizations...if only they can figure out all those clustered cables dangling when attaching everything...
Awesome explenations. I m so exciting to try this gimbal
