- I needed to replace the pulleys on my 2006 Porsche Cayman S because they become brittle after many years in service. I also replaced the alternator / accessory belt during this process as well. Please see the link below if you'd like to acquire this kit for your car.

Wow, this car is super easy to work on! So far its been all lies regarding how difficult it is to work on exotics.
That's a heck of a garage you got there, Pat! 2 amazing cars!
Thank you Justin!
Hey I have a issue with my 15mm hex head bolt that holds the tension pulley the hex part rounded out! Can u help me? How does the bar for the tensioner come off??
Great video, but I would offer a suggestion. I would start the engine and run it, at least for a short while, and do a visual inspection of the belts before covering them up, even if it's simply for peace of mind.
as always great video, need to help Pat get more views!!
Thanks!
Thank you!
A well done video and those who love to wrench will find this a big $$$ saver to spend on better things. The more you learn your ride the less you rely on others.
Awesome job Pat 👍👍
Thank you Rell!
Well done 👍🏻
Thank you Evan!
My guy Pat!!!!
Did you notice that I changed out the bridge to no-where???
Learned a lot. Just subscribed.
You could have loosened the othe alternator bolt tilted it up and removed the bolt instead of bending the bulkhead
I really want one of these cars but I really really don't want the maintenance costs and I'm not skilled enough to maintain myself!!! So I'll stick with Toyota and maybe get a GT86 😬
I suggest using FCP Euro's belt and pulley replacement kit, available here: www.fcpeuro.com/products/porsche-accessory-drive-belt-kit-boxster-cayman-911-adk0029p
Did the PPI tell you about these things or did you know that you have to this when you bought it?
Great video, thanks. One question however - if not replacing the tensioner after all, why buy the kit that includes the tensioner? There are other kits that consist of just the belt and the three pulleys - is that not a better buy?
I didn't price out the parts without the tensioner before looking into what the process was to replace the tensioner. It may be cheaper without it but then again, it's a small part. And I'd rather have it on hand just in case.
Must be the pulley’s belt noise
My belt was quiet. I decided to swap it out due to how long it was on the car as preventive maintenance.
Hey Pat do you do work on other people porsche cayman vehicles? I see you got your cayman about a month or two before I acquired mine we have about 5k difference in mileage. I'm from Maryland as well.
Good to meet you. I don't work on other people's cars unless they're loved ones. I don't have any liability coverage to dot hat.
Do you do all of the maintenance on this car?
I do as much as I can.
I got screwed because that stubborn bolt got stripped
Oh no! I'm sorry to hear it!
Got to ask, how did you fix it?
@@jimsego172 it became a 2 man job, but we were able to hammer a wrench on it hard enough to get the leverage we needed to undo it. If anyone ever needs to take that thing off again though, good luck to them...
I don’t advise anyone to do similar things in other hands I would advise people to drop their vehicle on dealerships workshop for more safer and gets 5 years warranty on everything they repair. Believe me dealerships are better for saving money and time
