This is one of many prime examples with the show was at its peak.
Mohammed Ikhlaq I used to watch EastEnders then, got crap over the years, I loved young Dennis.
Mohammed Ikhlaq it was it it’s peak when Den and Angie had the Vic and then when Pat and Frank Butcher had the Vic, in other words, back in the 80’s
@killwill83 I think it wasn't at its low point just yet but about by early 04 you could tell it had sunk and the whole Den return was a big flop.
Letitia Dean's performance as Sharon is outstanding, especially in this scene. Her reaction to seeing Den is a combination of delight (that he's not dead), shock (when she thought he was for so many years) and anger (why he kept it all a secret for so long and decided to return at that point).
That was my first impression too. Like, how on earth could you act that? Superb performance.
@@davidfos84 In fairness the acting in Eastenders can be very good when the writing is good. Dean's showdown with Phil over the Keanu affair on Xmas day was very powerful acting too.
Her acting wasn't that good back then. Her emotional scenes were great but that's about it, her acting is far better now all around.
@@H.K.5well show us what proper acting is then or can't you act to save your life?
@@Leeann-rz3ei Why does my acting ability have to do with anything?
I loved Dens love for Sharon, I think she was the only person he really truly loved, even more than he cared about himself, right til the end she was his princess
This was great. Dirty Den returns. I remember watching this on TV.
RIP Dirty Den. Always loved your phenomenal performance as the aforementioned character in EastEnders (back when the programme was actually worth watching) and as the evil master of the fort in Fort Boyard. You shall be missed. :-(
"We used to love it. But when they brought Dirty Den back, that was it for us. No one could survive that canal, especially with a bullet wound. I thought they were taking the mick, Mick"
Well said Brynn.
“Sip it don’t glug it!” so great to witness this scene again. Den really was an iconic EE character and L Grantham was an amazing actor. Counting the days for his return now as we watch Classic EE.
'Allo Princess', classic line!!
"Hello Princess!". Den is the best soap opera villain EVER!
Was cool to have Den back, but in the end, he was gone quicker than Vicki's American accent.
Thats because they found out he was a pervert.
They ruined the character with the whole Zoe thing tbh.
@@kevinlongman007 they didn't seem too bothered that he was a murderer first time round
@@notdrivingaminimetro That had happened years before he got the role of Den.
@@notdrivingaminimetro yea but in society murder and violence is often glamorized and excused, people see any sexual stuff though as nonacceptable. A man would get worse press for slapping a woman's backside these days than murdering her. In honesty, though his character was a flop, after his initial return they didn't know what to do with him. He was a sleazy man in his 60s walking around sleeping with women half his age and under and it was just unbelievable.
"Ello princess😂" .
R.I.P Leslie Grantham you will be missed
Great acting by Letitia Dean.
Love how he was just hiding behind an insubstantial plant.
Sip it, Don't glug it! Totally stealing that
RIP Leslie Grantham my second favourite eastenders character behind Dennis Rickman, you will be sadly missed!
Poor Dennis, expecting an instant recognition of "you're my son!" from Den, but all he recieves is scorn.
Blame Vicky , i never understood why she didn't tell Den that he had a son.
I really can't fathom how this was 15 years ago! 😭😭
I can't fathom how Den has now been properly dead for longer than he was "dead" the first time.
I loved 80s Den with Angie but this return was over shadowed by Leslie's webcam scandal and cast conflicts which led to his 2005 exit. Anita Dobson had the right idea when offered a return saying 'why tarnish a gorgeous creation'.
But Leslie will always be the shows original bad boy. RIP.
I really can't believe Den got killed off in February 2005. The square's ultimate bad boy. How could they kill off this great legend? Huge mistake!
I think the Producers had no choice due to the unfortunate webcam disaster of Leslie Grantham. Nevertheless RIP Leslie/Dirty Den.
If I’m correct the webcam disaster not only brought Den to be killed off but also Dennis too, if he didn’t do the webcam then I’m sure we would still have Dennis and Sharon and Den from time to time but I think they were killing him off anyway as a stand point he couldn’t be taken from The Vic, I get chills when I see Mick behind the bar as his certain standing and body language reminds me a bit of Den
Because his ex was also a psycho
Funnist part of the sound when Sharon throws up lol
"allo Princess"
his best line by far ;D
This is by far the best episode of Leslie Granthams return. Those scenes with him & letita Dean were superb. Being 36 I'm a second generation den watts fab so only remember his return.
To be honest I thought all of his return up until the end of 2003 was amazing. But 2004 wasn't a great year for the writing. I just wished they would have tried to bring back nick cotton or even Peggy for the year 2004 so they could have had better writing for den. The fact that den never met grant and Peggy is a travesty. I wished Leslie Grantham took the offer to come back into the show in 1994 that would have been epic with the sharongate storyline aswell.
@@user-cw5qp7ty9t personally I have to disagree sadly. There was some OK moments in 2003 particularly that fist week of Leslie Grantham return. However I always thought when he came back his characater went a little unrealistic. He became this gangster like characater rather then the "real" den of the 80s "flogging dodgy stuff out the back." According to Sharon. I'm only 37 myself so like you I don't really remember. But there was still good moments I thought when people needed help in the cafe Den was there in 2004 and when the fairground collased in 2004 Den moved quick. But other then that he seemed completely different.
Back in the 80s Den was respected. If you had a problem and needed something sorting Den would sort it(be it illegal or not). There was still moments if that 2003_2005 but not as much. I like the whole dot Den thing before he exits for the second time in 2003 2005.
My late mother and I were so pleased when Leslie Grantham returned to EastEnders. Den Watts was one of the most interesting characters and we were disappointed that he was killed off - again! The worst thing the BBC did to the show, regardless of whatever scandal Grantham was involved in. It's not like he had a blemish free past.
To be honest I think the sex scandal vid was the tip of the iceberg. Grantham came back to jazz up the show but it didn't work out and even if that hadn't happened I doubt his character would have stayed full time. His exit storyline in his final months was really all that was good, 2004 was 1 of the worst years in the show's history.
Unfortunately after the Internet scandal they treated him as Leslie Grantham and not the character Den Watts. Leslie did state however that he only had a 18 month contract to tie in with the 20th anniversary of the show. Its such a shame as it would have been icon to see him up against Grant and Peggy Mitchell. If the tip of the iceberg was the Internet scandal then how Steve Mcfadden aka Phil Mitchell got away with dogging then the conduct of the actors in the shoe isn't very consistent.
He's back in today's clasisic EastEnders. Xx
I thought Sharon was going to faint after seeing Den. I don't understand how Vicky omitted to tell Dennis that Den was his dad. It's no wonder he was incensed.
I was about 12/13 when this happened. Started watching EE in about 98 so I only ever knew the legend of Den & how my parents & grandparents would say he was the shows best character. I remember being SOOOOOO hyped when this happened that I’d finally get to see him in EE.
She starts to puke, no puke comes out
CLASSIC :D
I have been trying to find that again as well. It was once on youtube somewhere but has since disappeared.
Sharon didn't wash her hands when she touched the toilet 😂😂
I realize that on UK Soaps this almost "never" happens but on US Soaps, it's a fact of life. A character who is presumed dead comes back and says he/she was held on a Desert Island, in The Witness Protection Program, or even has a long lost Twin Sister/Brother. Yet give the UK Soaps their props, they are much more "realistic" than US Soaps. I don't think that anyone like Erica Kane (All My Children) or even Nikki Newman on The Young And The Restless could handle living in The Square.
Great moment in the programme ,RIp Leslie Grantham.
Such an epic scene.
During his last few sentences on this video, dirty Den, kind of sounds like Wallace - from Wallace and Gromit
"You could something, I mean - i thought i might have got a chair racked around my head. I flattered myself there might have been a few tears, but I wasn't expecting this - complete silence. Fancy a bit of cheese Sharon? I've got wendsleydale - your favourite!'
I liked the name of that club back then... Angie's Den.
i cant even remember all this lol!
I wonder how Ian and Ben react when Kathy confronts them.
BEST EPiSODES EVA
Can't wait to see what Sharon's reaction is like when she sees Kathy next week!
+Carly Hawthorne And now she's found out that Gavin is her dad!
+Elliott A Gavin is like the new Den.
Hopefully not coming back, dreadful character.
@@ERstat77you love him really
"ello princess" love it!
Rest in peace
What a Legend - Den Watts
Spoken like a gentleman sir! :)
0:57 puking sounds, no puke comes out of Sharon's mouth....
The puking sound made me laugh out loud.
It's tv
That's because they cut to the bar before it did, people are having their tea when Eastenders is on you know
@@hornet1409 Didn't even flush the bog after she supposedly puked. Skanky cow.
Clive Bindley That Would Be the Least of My Worries if i just seen My Dead Dad alive infront of me
i wish eastenders channel would upload the whole episode instead of just clips of it
12 years ago
Lol when she throws up xD
Alien Much!?!?
welcome back Den
When she shit the door she didn't look it and the other girl couldn't get in
R.I P. DD
He wasn't buried, he fell into the canal after being shot and his body was never found
I swear they were going to do this for Danielle but said no 🥺
Rest in peace Leslie Grantham xxxx
"Ello Princess.."
A Classic Moment From Eastenders, Love It
He was a sick actor. I still refer to his "SHAARAPP n stay out of it" line from the xmas Zoe finding about affair, episode ! R.i.p Lesley Grantham.
This is in my recommended now that the actor is dead in real life haha
this was 6 years ago for us lol
He's not coming back from the dead anytime soon! Lol
thats vicky, den's real daughter, the one with long hair is sharon, den's adopted daughter and the other guy is dennis, his real son, who he doesn't even know about...lol...
Allo Princess!!! lol
Demand should never have been killed off
indeed
I wish they had done this kind of thing for Cindy as well.
i read they r with ian and denise's wedding
Well… you got your wish
There was no scenes like this
lol she does sound alien haha
Well she is in total shock Den! She believed that you were dead for all those years!
'somehow palpatine returned'
thats because she saw her dad that was ment to be dead how would u feel if u saw your dad after 14 years when he was ment to be dead
Back when Sharon had good storyline
That was dated on my birthday September 29th 2003 I was 24
Sharon used to be fit
too much of a shock for Sharon
Bloody hell. I've been out of the UK for years. Is that Vicky of Michelle and Den? I've got no idea what's going on.
why don't you ever put the dates these shows were aired?
Narcissist Hunter why should they?
If you want to know just google it. It’s not difficult.
No I really like her acting
she grabbed the toilet to get up then didnt even wash her hands afterwards. yuck
Billie Bob she put it in her gob instead
So sharon started Corona
I think washing her hands was the very last thing on Sharon’s mind! Sorry it took 11 years to reply lol
If Den Watts and Kathy Beale came back from the dead then it is possible that in like 10 years time they do they same with Mick
at 1:39 she looks like a younger ronnie
Oh my lord they all look so 2004 :)
Looking back l think it was a waste of time bringing Den Watts back. He left after less than a year and a half later.
He got sacked.
The girl with short hair looks like Amanda Byne's mugshot lol
+hearts76100 you mean Vicki
....allo Princess.... classic
Whats happening in eastenders now in the us ?
Sharons reaction would be perfectly understandable under the circumstances, this comeback of Dirty Den was good up to a point but the way he got taken out again later was a bit daft, even worse than the flower thing when he was supposed have been originally killed but at least that had more of a plausibility about it in as much as it was supposed to be gangsters in disguise, I can barely even remember what happened to him with this comeback story, seems like ages ago but didn't he get hit on the head by some girls in the pub or something like that and got really killed this time?, perhaps someone can clear it up for me?, cheers.
+John Cashin he was murdered by his wife Chrissie and buried under the cellar in the Vic
ERstat77 Bringing him back was a poor move really.
@@dianewebb5772how do you work that out?
how did h come bak aloie wasnt he buried in the concrete?
Here comes TROUBLE with not just a capitol T.
Can you put on when Martin and Sonia get married please. Thank you
salt n vinegar lol
i know she was, but she needs to come back, she made eastenders interesting
Scarlett Johnson
because u said that she didnt flush the toilet and that it was discusting she was sick cos of den coming bk and thats y she didnt flush the loo
This was before that. He's definitely not coming back now.
lmao
she didn't even flush the toilet. Typical
Lol I noticed that
the girl he got pregnant was michelle
i know lol but if they brought him back then they can bring may back like twist the story line or something i dont know...but she was such a good baddie lol
lol
The scene where they argue loudly in the Vic is a tad dumb. They would wake up everyone.
was looking foward to den watts returning to eastenders but in the end at bit of an anti-climax the writers messed it up anyway he would not have survived the hit at the canal ,lesiie grantham R.I.P.
no, they said that if they could bring dan back to life then they could bring other dead characters back.
Tom and trevors death was in about 2001 ish i think.
When was this?????????????
September 2003.
