    Jayasuriya was a nightmare for us Indians back then. Revolutionized opening in one day game. The most aggressive batsman cricket has ever witnessed. And he was a genuine left arm spinner. World class all rounder

    This is first time I am hearing Sinhalese. As an Indian I expected it to sound more like Tamil, but it sounds more like Malayalam.

      I'm a Sinhalese and recently found that Sinhalese an Malayalese have lots of common things like cousins, looks, art, rituals have lots of similarities. I think there must have been lots of trades between Chera kingdom and Sinhalese kingdom in ancient times.

      Sinhalese is a massive mix. From ancient Ravana Yaksha, Naaga heritage in Sri lanka, then later mixed with Bengali and Malayali from India. Then with Portuguese and Dutch

      atleast venku got his wickets ... nightmare was for manoj prabhakar i think manoj retired because of one sanath innings that too in a world cup like 2 overs manoj conceded 48 runs or something and we lost that game too

    Most underated bolwer was vaas, I loved watching him dismissing sachin or inzimam or waugh he was so accurate. I wish to see a bowler like him again. I keep him in between akram and mcgrath 1,2,3. Then donald.

      Absolutely!!...and the best thing about Vaas is that he bowled mostly in dead Sri lankan wickets didnt have express pace or out of the world skills like Wasim Akram but hes dead accurate, small variations but hes a work horse and a team player extrodinaire. Extreamly hard to find players like him, the unsung hero

      Its because you are picking up Sanskrit words here and there. Sinhalese is HEAVY on Sanskrit. Like 95% of Sinhalese has tadbhava and tatsama origin words. Sinhala Prakrit is like 2600+ years old according to 600BC Anuradhapura inscriptions in Brahmi Sinhala Prakrit . Any one that speaks a language influenced by Sanskrit should be able to understand Sinhalese.

    Made the biggest score a Sri Lankan had made at the time because of the fear of getting out and having to face the wrath of Arjuna. Unreal. No other captain in world cricket, maybe other than Clive Lloyd, played as big a role in the rise of cricket in a country as Arjuna did.

    With all the due respect to Arjuna and Sanath, in my opinion, teams like India, England are sucessful, not because of they have captains yelling at players or fearful captaincy. It's their system which works as a unit towards country's pride. In sri Lanka, politicians, SLC mgt, players have their own descretions and corrupted.. This is a system.issue, not a captain issue.
