Mourinho came 2nd with a squad that was not only full of players who should've been bench/rotational ones at mid-table teams, but a very unbalanced bunch without dedicated midfield role starters, a completely unbalanced defensive line, and no natural inverted right winger like Anthony. Like you rightly stated, we still have a way to go, but all the early signs (apart from the first two games) are positive. We are keeping the ball better, pressing well and most importantly, getting a good run of wins. You can see the team spirits different, they are fighting for each other which was non existent previously. I'm happy with the progress. Casemiro has been absolute class for us and gives Bruno the freedom to play his own game. Rashfords on fire also. Big test against City so let's see how much we have improved and put in a good performance.

Varane and Martinez are the main difference makers in the defence at least. Dalot has been influenced by their mentality and motivation, Malacia is also too young to be a mentality beast alone, but with Varane and Martinez he has so much support.
Also Eriksen is ice cold, nothing phases him. Making the midfield ready for anything. And I'm sure Casemiro will bring more Ice and Iron to the midfield.
And ten Haag is also very different from Ole. Ole was too nice, calling everyone a nickname. But Erik wants togetherness, wants integrity, no leaks, and much better training, with an actual vision for how to play.
And the fact that Erik ran the punishment with the players shows, as he said, that Erik is there with the players, while he might not be playing, he's also part of the team.
I'm glad that Maguire is on the bench, i feel like his mentality is too weak. Recently I've heard how he blames everyone but himself, blaming DDG, coaches, and other players for not supporting him. Yet all I hear from players is how good a leader he is blah blah. Maguire is mentally weak, if he should return to the team, he shouldn't be the captain, he should just focus on defending, he can't lead.

We are far from being a "beast", not at that level yet... As sad as it might be, but City you'd classify as a beast, they are ruthless.. We are still at the foundation to become champions again.. But it won't happen in just 1 season, hopefully those hijackers who run the club could fully support ETH, else this little promising growth we have, will be meaningless, because City, Liverpool, Chelsea, and other teams will only be getting stronger each year..

With Ronaldo, Varane, Casemiro, Lisandro, Anthony, Eriksen, and perhaps Malacia they are starting to form their final roster. But lets not forget that City had/has Sane/Foden *and* Mahrez in the same position. The depths of Real Madrid's 16/17, Liverpool 18/19, Bayern's 19/20, and Chelsea's 20/21 squads is what Utd should be referencing.
Discipline and hard work is the basis of every success, so why not give Ten Hag the time and means to make the right decisions for the club to achieve success and glory that's eluding the club for so long.
