Idk, I feel like he's gotten pretty stale as of late. The last thing I could consider 'moving' was the baby guys backstory all the way back in the dressrosa arc. Whole cake was action packed, and the Sanji 'betrayal' was mildly dramatic, but Wano felt incredibly rushed and incomplete. I feel like the pacing, the messaging, the dialogue for both choppers and brooks backgrounds were 10/10, while the cheek dango girls was like 6, and the smiling girls was a 7. It's still "good", but it's a huge step down in terms of basically everything imo.
@@ravercorum20bruh Wano is one of the best arcs, music, scenery, storyline, characters, culture, etc. To each of their own but to me Oda has gotten better wth his writing. Maybe you’re just unfamiliar with asian culture tho

So many odds against doctor Hiruluk. Being terminally ill, being poisoned by mistake and ending up getting shot by an entire squad. This was really tough on Chopper. Great reaction, it's okay to cry, most OP fans cried as well at this scene.
I can't believe that even though I've seen this a million times before... I still cried again. They managed to convey to us the pain of losing someone you love to such an absurd level that it should be a crime. 🗿👍

One Piece is more then just an anime, its a story of life and tragety. you can feel how much pride Oda takes in his story when he writes things like this, such a beautifully sad story
In case you didn’t know. I’m not sure of your knowledge of Christmas . But choppers story is based on Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. There’s a popular childrens Christmas song about a Reindeer who was bullied for his red nose , and none of the other reindeer respected him. But he became the guiding light on Santa’s Sleigh, to deliver presents to children around the world . Because his nose glowed !
Thank you for this! I was and still having a hard time for the past several weeks but I couldn't find that release and make myself cry. Really helped a lot watching this few episodes with you. Chopper's introduction, backstory and joining was heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time.
I remember watching this the first time when my dad was going through medical issues and I cried the hardest I ever did at that point of my life. Definitely dropping you a subscription to the channel 🙌🏽💕

I would also advise you to take breaks after episodes that make you too emotional, otherwise you are going to burn out (speaking from experience)

(Edit): With Dr. Hiriluk’s philosophy on how you shouldn’t hold grudges (why he tried saving the 20 doctors)… His perspective on the matter is that as a doctor, your duty is to save lives not take them. Regardless of who the person is, you’re obliged to try with your out most capabilities to save their lives. His character philosophy is one of piracy and doctorates. He has believes of equality and fairness in treatment no matter how you look or what’s your race, a concurrent theme in one piece (especially with chopper). When Dr. Hiriluk first brought in chopper, chopper was scared to speak as to how others treated/judged him previously. After chopper’s confession. Dr. Hiriluk said that he as well speaks, he even speaks better than him. His response makes chopper feel something he never felt before, he couldn’t fit in with the reindeers nor with the humans, Dr. Hiriluk simply showed him that it doesn’t matter. Also Dr. Hiruluk exploded himself in order for his cause of death not to be by eating chopper’s mushroom, “your medicine didn’t kill me chopper.”. Everything about this arc/ backstory was perfect, cheers to more ;)
My favourite flashback of the entire series. The anime depicts it so great. Chopper a child who lost his soul gets it back by hiruluk and in exchange Hiruluk is granted with a child he sincerely cares for. Those last words not only hold true for this series but real life as well. People are only truly dead when they are forgotten!

The story of Tony Tony Chopper is that of tragedy and hardship. A young boy cast out from his family and then driven off by those that didn't understand. He found something more in a father, someone who taught him what it means to become a doctor. Hearing that the man will soon die, risked his own life for a way to cure him. And the worst part...Doctor Hiriluk knew the moment he saw that mushroom that it was poisonous. But seeing his boy limping back with injuries and holding his head up high, he did what any father who do and still ate it. A tragedy in itself and even when he was about to die, made sure that Chopper wasn't the cause. Doctor Hiriluk's words ring true to every fan that first saw it, to fans that are in episode 1000. Never forget the dead, for while they are gone...they aren't truly dead. *Wipe away tears and raised glass* To Doctor Hiriluk! To his son Chopper! He had a good life and an amazing son!

I will die on the hill that Chopper's backstory hits the hardest. I think that I enjoy a lot of the other backstories, but I feel like they're kind of set in this very serious and already somber tone... while Chopper's backstory, while tragic to start with, is then just this a bit wacky, oddball journey that then gutpunches you from nowhere, so then the contrast between the two emotions just become so devastating.
Just so you know, apart from the usual weaknesses Devil Fruits tend to give their eaters, the animal transformation fruits have a particularly nasty drawback. In that if the animal fruit matches the species that ate it, they get no abilities but can still drown. Good thing a human didn't eat Chopper's fruit.
