I strongly recommend you look into a Webasto air top heater or an S bar heater you can get them to pipe into your vehicles gas tank and they run off gasoline or diesel in the used very little electric off your batteries I have one in my van and it works great

Cheers chap for the advice I had looked at similar diesel heater system a few months back. The only issue here in the UK is the price of diesel is crazy high compared to the US and some of Europe. So will have to work out what the average running cost is.
