I believe it actually IS possible to pickwhip something in a different composition. When you have multiple compositions open, you can drag one of their tabs which will separate that particular composition into it's own window much like when you do the same to a tools panel. With the other timeline open you can see all the layers as well as the properties, which you now have access to all your pickwhipping pleasure!
You’re totally right! The explanation was kept simple for folks who aren’t used to multiple compositions and multiple timelines open at once, but you can go cross-comp if they are both visible. Thanks for the feedback, maybe it should have been included since others have mentioned it as well.
I don't have the pick wip tool for some reason? Its not there, and neather is the 'Mode' and the 'TrikMat' thingy.. I just have all of thoughs tools above that, like the motion blur thing. How do I get your window settings because mine aren't correct??
Look for the Transfer Controls or Layer Switches toggles in the very bottom left corner of the AE window. Turning one of those on should do it. You can toggle between them with the F4 key as well. But at least one has to be enabled before the expression controls will show up. Hope this helps!
Great tutorials! One minor (but awesome) correction for you. The pick whip tool is NOT limited to the comp you're working in. In his recent Node Conference talk, John Dickinson shows his trick for pick whipping between comps. Just drag and dock your comp below another comp so you have two timelines visible. Now you can Pick Whip between comps! vimeo.com/251235220
Thanks for the feedback! The pick whip is a pretty versatile tool :) Although I don't usually have two comps open at the same time, I could see how this would be a great feature for more complex workspaces and projects. I've usually resorted to "Copy With Relative Property Links" to workaround that problem. Glad to know it's possible! Thanks again, lemonface :)
That's great feedback, thank you for noting. It's hard to strike a balance between going through all the features and also being short, easy to digest and able to quickly move on. Post back if you have any specific areas you found yourself losing focus, that will be helpful to know.

If i dont have the F9 key on my mac what can i do to easy ease my keyframes?
Right-click a keyframe (or multiple selected) and look for Easy Ease.
As a beginner I can’t remember all of expression 🥺 how should I takin this 🥺
Don't worry, it takes time to absorb it all. Just move at your own pace and try a few expressions in After Effects to get a feel for them.
@@Animoplex thank so much!!

You're losing me a bit here in this one. Finding myself rewinding to see what I missed.
