If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex

What makes this guy genius is his ability to explain the gropes. Its like mma versus boxing. The rest of CZcams is mostly classic boxing. Thanks man
Joe Rogan himself recently said that UFC is no where near boxing… Your example is bad
@@Alex-vk7qg no, his example is one that you don’t agree with.
Nowhere near in what aspect lol
Just a belief
True🙏
Thank you Alex! Have you heard of this quote?
"As to methods there may be a million and then some, but principles are few. The man who grasps principles can successfully select his own methods. The man who tries methods, ignoring principles, is sure to have trouble.".
― Harrington Emerson.
Reminds me of your models vs methods idea.
This is an important quote. I've been thinking these about perspective vs essence in branding. Successful people come up with creative ways to describe the underlying, timeless, objective principle
Thanks for sharing this full quote 🙏🙌. I'd only ever heard elements of the quote, but never it in full.
I have leaner a lot from this quote!
Thanks so much!
I’ve never heard of this quote. Thank you so much for sharing it!
Damn I like that quote
I'm a simple man.
When Alex speaks, I make money! 👍
not againnnnnnn
Since the past few hours of watching your video, I'm back leaving a comment about how much you motivated me from these videos and clarifying everything for me that I needed clear, to be able to even feel alive again. Can't thank you enough Alex. This is life-changing for me.
Many of what you explained are business tactics that most people do not even consider, especially starting ups (value va price, method vs model, promotion vs retention, etc.)! Thanks for all that in 12 minutes time, enjoying all other videos too. 👍🏻
Thanks Alex! Sell something that people will never stop paying for because you created a massive customer surplus. And contually improving you service to increase the value! Love the 500k house, that costs 5k to build, that you sell for 50k. Gold!
thanks for this Alex. I've spent all day reading customer reviews and doing customer research looking for where the value lies👍
Dude, why have I not thought about this haha - great idea Mark!
Never saw him heart a comment before
I appreciate all the free value from this and every one of your videos. Thank you for taking your time to do this.
You are THEE BEST!!! So many gems!!!! “Only sell things that people won’t stop buying.” Thank YOU.
I do finance sales. This is post is so valuable. The way you explained this concept is so unbelievably simple, and excited to apply this on my business. I have read a lot of business books, and I cant remember any business books that digest this concept so well. Thank you for sharing this!
The creative thinking and problem solving is where most people give up; often times overlooking the fundamentals.
Simple scales, fancy fails! Loved your thought process and ability to clearly explain it. Thank you!!
Awesome recommendation fm CZcams to find Mozi! Got the motivation I needed after being jobless for 2 years.... thx man!
How you only have 70k followers shows most "business owners" just aren't willing to do the "boring work". If they only knew how valuable these insights are and applied them...
This aged well ❤
Yes! I remember hearing this on Impact Theory from Billionaire John Paul Dejoria, the creator of Patron and other products. But it was just a statement he made. You explained it so much better. And as someone starting their own service company, this is a great reminder!
Great video
Great concept Alex I stumbled onto your channel weeks ago I’ve hinted your content and have learned so much
Thanks for providing the value that you do
God bless Alex I wanna be like you when I grow up
i watch your videos all of them and when i work out i sit down start playing some old ones like this or some new ones it’s like having a dad talk to me when i never had thank you Alex
I love how he breaks it down and easy to understand the concepts.
Good points as usual - thanks for sharing more of your business experiences Alex. Nowadays most companies need to implement systems and processes that allow them to identify opportunities to innovate and stay ahead of the curve. Otherwise they won't be able to keep most customers and stay around for 20 years. Truly innovating value without getting knocked off is one of the toughest parts of being in business. Apple has been an example of winning that concept. Doing it in less technical or non-technical businesses can be challenging.
Utterly mesmerising listening to this man talk business.
Yes you're right, easy to say, really hard to do. But because I don't have too big target, I'll just do what work for me now. But I'll save the idea. Really appreciate your share. Thanx alex
The intro 🤣🤣🤣 “and I have nothing to sell u”
I’ve been saying “Simple scales fancy fails” to everyone over the last couple of weeks since I heard you say it in the previous video, great quote!
I LITERALLY came to this realization today before watching this video! WOW! I was just thinking. About a product I can sell that people will need and want to keep buying. Thanks for this confirmation!
You don’t know shit about developing software 😂
Your content is so valuable. Thank you for sharing. I look forward to all your videos
Yea bro just gonna say 💪. Much respect for putting out videos filled with incredible amount of knowledge and really just doing it cause you want to help people just starting out. Just know the fact you take the time to do this is making a huge impact on some of us more than you know. 💪💯

Alex If you turn off your auto focus (on your camera) this CZcams viewers eyes will thank you! your words are money wisdom so maybe the focus don’t matter! Thank you.
Thanks for this very clear teaching. Keep going the good work !
Simple but hard to implement. Awesome.
Just transitioning from Online 1on1 coaching to learn full stack web-development to automatize everything
THANKS MAN you give me a clear north star to aim now.
why not just outsource the development?
Love how straightforward you are.
Watching this while drinking Starbucks iced coffee 😳😳

I’m getting a strong “Infinite Game” vibe from this video! Love it!
I will be saving this video and watching it for the rest of my entrepreneurial life again and again to keep me on the path. I am a lifetime customer of this video.
This is super valuable Alex, most people try to improve their funnel instead of their products
Mozi-Nation let’s goooo 💪😂. Keep it up Alex, your content is amazing. I came across your channel two days ago and I can’t stop watching your videos. Take this channel to the moon brother 🚀

It’s your next fake guru.
One video. Two pages of notes. Subscribed.
"Simple scales, fancy fails" - love it!
Right, like how exterminators went from selling roach gel that they would put up for $50 and that would last for several years to crappy poison that they reapply 4x a year for $100 a pop.
Working on starting a Coffee Ecomm Store. This came at a perfect time.
Love every… single… video you have done! Keep it up Alex! BTW, what mic setup are you using? It’s so damn clear! 🔥
knowledge here is priceless... the price he is charging? 0$
he is literally doing what he said with his business he is doing right now as you listen with youtube.
high value low cost.
Gotta find out how to only sell things that people do not stop buying then. 😉 That's actually an eye opening video! Great frameworks.
Yes harry
Or make what you're selling something that your customers don't ever want to stop buying. I think.
Wow!🥳He's basically regurgitating the same talking points of any contemporary business books. Something tells me he's going to start a masterclass soon.
Can I just say thank you for the amazing value you give? Thank you.
Alex you are a great man keep it up, and I still look forward to speaking with you.
This is great content as always, Alex!
Great video, Alex. Mind if I lend a camera tip though? Maybe turn off the AI Servo setting on your camera and set your focus to center. That way the autofocus won't readjust every time you move your hands into the frame.
Alex thank you this is outstanding!!!
Great content!
This is why software companies move to a subscription model, I spent many years using adobe products when they moved to a subscription I moved away and now don't use any Adobe products. adobe currently has a good business but their products keep getting worse thus the aquasition of Figma. which after being bought I exported all my files out of. so recurring revenue is good for investors and bad for everybody else so it fundamantly an unsustainable model. putting shareholder profits above all else fundamtly undermines a society as we are currently seeing .
Gem! 💎
Thanks for sharing 🙏
That was great. Thanks. Have a good day.
I’m def in sales because I sale myself and my services as a handyman everyday. Trying to apply these principles to my business
Very inspiring! I'll watch more. 👍😎
Thanks for the quality content. BTW why you have band aid on nose in every video?
So clarifying, thank you
This is SOLID!! Thank You!!
Busted! I’m literally in the car line at Starbucks watching your video lol

Great post!!
Great explaination!
Hi alex, when you market your business for sale where do you go to market? Is it Flippa? Btw, seen the recent podcast and immediately sent that video to my brother as he owns one gym currently. Hopefully he can replicate your business model.
"Everyone's obsessed about their Stripe account screenshot" NOTHING has hit harder than that statement
There isn’t one business in the world who hasn’t lost a customer.
The riches are made in client acquisition -- the fortune is made in client retention.
Thanks for the video, but could you dive in deeper how to find good niches to start a SaaS company in?
Thanks man! Thumbs whos With me when I say: this account Hit the 1M Follower in under one year today 70k at 10.08.21 - btw. So much Value Content- we will bring it to germany for those who dont speak englisch 😃🙋♂️
Hex figured this out and now with pulse it’s going to scale it big time , I hope you look into Richard Heart bro , love ur videos btw
solid content from alex once again
Sell them the shovels. The man is a visionary. 😉
Mahn, you're really one of a kind.
Best video you’ve made
Brain said sell pot. 😂😂😂
Jk but this is valuable as heck thank you.
Love it Alex!
wait how do you even get started at finding that in a business?
I have experience in selling stuff online, marketing, and had even made a subscription box offer but for some reason 'value' concept still doesn't click [in terms of application with physical goods or really even servies]
Like what if I create a product that fixes a need, and then someone just makes a knock off and then we get stuck on a rase to the bottom
or if i have a marketing agency and then some 19yr old kid comes in with a few wins and poaches the client saying hell do it for half the price?
Alex, Love it!
Love your content love your experience love your advice
I'm a lifetime entrepreneur a house flipper a lender and I'm looking for exactly what you explained here so perhaps a little practical advice on what the vehicle could be?
He mentions SaaS products, but also speaks of others like Coca Cola, Starbucks etc
How can this translate to a service based business where were you provide basement waterproofing foundation repairs and sump pump installations trapeze selling sump pump maintenance contracts or is there really no way to do it in this type of business
Sir, your mustache is amazing - not just your advice. :)
Mind-blowing.. as always...
That’s why branding is so important!
"Simple scales Fancy fails"
Respect
This guy’s channel is a gold mine
Priceless content!
Watching this while eating Cinnamon Toast Crunch. He is right I'll never stop.
This is pure gold!
8:20
Analogy ; it's the difference between speed and acceleration.
Best video ever!!
Brilliant and thanks
Lightbulb for my business. I thought we should increase the quality AND the price of our PPVS; we should JUST increase the quality and keep the price the same if we want to retain subs, which will be the best for us in the end.
How much Roi does taking franchise like McDonald's or starbucks
