In this video, I demonstrate how I can power my house, including the air conditioner with a generator and an EasyStart.
EasyStart™ is a one-of-a-kind, custom-developed soft starter for single-phase motors like those used in the home and commercial contexts. It employs a 4-part start ramp sequence that is self-optimizing, resulting in the lowest possible start-up current. EasyStart can deliver a start current reduction of up to 75% of a compressor's LRA (locked-rotor amperage). EasyStart is the perfect solution that allows an air conditioner or refrigeration compressor to operate on a generator, inverter, or limited utility power when it would otherwise not have functioned. It can also be applied to air compressors and fluid pump motors.

@MicroairNet - Jak na to + styl
I bought 2 units as we have 2 AC units. They are all the same now . I loved the video. The enclosures are so much better . Easy to look for issues versus taking cover off. Well Done.
Hey you're the best you explained it the best possible way. Thabk you for your hard work. Because I always wondered how am I going to start my AC but now i know.
I really like the soft starters mounted inside the enclosures 👍
Absolutely great video. Thanks!
You are welcome
Update from Micro-Air, I contacted them and they told me for my 2 tons Compressor to use the EasyStart 368-X48-Blue for more efficient. No longer use 364 unit or smaller. Thanks for the video.
Yes. They changed their parameters. 364 still works for 2tons but according to them now 368 will be more efficient.
As always great informative video Javier, thank you! Having the two EasyStarts together in a junction box was a great idea! Micro Air's tech support is outstanding when it comes to run you through the whole installation process if you bump into any issues.
Thanks. I didn’t like the idea of having the easy start exposed. Now. The only problem I have not resolved is that I need to add a waterproof wire connection diagram for any technician that comes to repair the ac units. So he knows what are those 4 cables and how are connected.
@@JavierRivera yes, you have to. It happened to me recently and I wasn't home. The A/C guy asked my wife if he could disconnect the "box" that was connected to my 5ton unit to "run some tests" and he never wired it back🤬
@@stelon7615 Well, for now, I printed 2 wiring diagrams and put them with the air handler unit paperwork in the front of the unit. Eventually, I might need to put 1 of those diagrams in a ziplock bag and place it in the outside units and maybe in the junction box.
Why this unit cost over $300 where l can get about price of new compressor?
This is not only to prolong the life of your compressor. The main purpose is to reduce the amount of rushed Amps needed to start the condenser unit so you can use a Generator to power the unit at your home.
I have your exact same CHAMPION generator and I changed it to Propane myself with a kit. I never even ran it with gas one time. I bought and filled four (4) 50# propane tanks so I have a pretty long run time and I don't worry about the gas going bad. I need to get that MicroAir so I can run my 4Ton unit. What is the size of your long cable? I have a similar cable that I built myself and it's a #8/4 SOOW about 115ft.
Hello. It depends of the easystart model. You could order the extra cables from micro-air by contacting them by email so you have the same colors. If not here are the sizes.
EasyStart 364
14awg x 2c + 10awg 2c
EasyStart 368
12awg x 2c + 14awg x2c
Can you see both units running on the APP? What is the best connector if I splice the wires and buy the same as you show .
@@pinballguru The app will detect the signal when the AC is running. So if you want to connect to the 2nd ac you will need to stop the 1st ac and start the 2nd one and you will see that the app will see it. Best connectors. WAGO connectors.
How did you extend the wires? Splice? Or did you go inside the box and put on longer wires?
I contacted micro-air and I bought 15ft of cable from them then I Spliced the cables. The cables that comes with the Easystart are welded inside the box.
@@JavierRiveraOk thanks. I contacted them and they told me they don’t sell the cable. But they said to buy the wires, splice and I guess I could use a flexible liquidtite conduit. Thanks.
Fun
Thank you
If you have 2 a/c’s set up, how will you know which Bluetooth is reading which a/c?
I will know depending of which A/C is running. Something I start one A/C check the app and then stop that unit and start the other one.
@@JavierRiveraok thanks. I’m going with a setup like you have, since I have a 4 ton and a 2.1/2 ton. Just ordered the electrical box. Going to splice the wires too. Thanks for your advice.
Hi Javier, is It's mounted in a water proof box with it closed. I cant seem to connected to the app sitting in my living room. Do I have to be next to it for the app to connect>? is the metal door preventing it from connecting? It worked while we were installing. Weird.
@@pinballguru that is correct. The easystart waterproof enclosure prevents the Bluetooth signal from going out. So. Yes you have to be close to the easystart.
@@JavierRivera maybe I can drill small hole on the side and that should work.
@@pinballguru I would not do it, will store moisture.
@JavierRivera bit the micro is sealed and people mount in side and on the outside. Just thinking .
Is it Genmax 900 or 9000?
GM9000iED
Just because that Generator has a 50amp Plug Don't Mean i can produce 50amps that GM9000IED is rated at 9000W Max Surge & 7600watts Running Amps So 9000 divided by 240volts = 37.5 Max Amps that's why it has a 50amp plug they don't make a 40 amp plug Just a 30 amp & 50 amp , so at 37.5 amps the 30amp plug would be underrated so they had to put a 50amp plug But it still will only Produce 37.5 amps NOT 50 amps 7600w = 31.6 Amps @240v , To get 50amps @240volts you will need a 12,000watt Generator
In reality is more than 50amp. 75amps at 9000w starting watts. Running watts is 7600w. Per leg is 3,800. 3,800 divided by 120 = 31.6amp per leg. Each leg is 120v with 31.6 amp for a total of 240v with 63.2amp at 7600w Running watts.
@@JavierRivera You don't get double the power just because you have 2 legs, each leg is out of phase with the other. Your generator has 7600 running watts at 240v, that is 31.6A. It may be able to tolerate a short spike twice that for a millisecond but your generator is not producing 63A continuous. As the other poster stated, the rating of the plug is 50A and has nothing to do with the output of the generator.
LRA stands for Lock Rotor Amps. It does not mean this is what it takes to start the compressor and fan. That in rush what pop your breaker.
RLA is your Run Load Amps. Your math is off.
Hi, I know but is a close number that the amps will spike for a second that is why I used that number instead of measuring it with a clamp meter. if you need exact numbers to be able to make a decision let me know and I can get it for you.
