    Kevin we really enjoy your v-logs. Thanks to them and your honest reviews we’ve chosen to stay at The Mia Resort Nha Trang, The Park Hyatt in Saigon and the Metropole in Hanoi when we visit Vietnam in March/April next year. BUT…. God help you if I don’t have a good a time as you did! 😜 P.S your whole review style has grown and improved so much. We’ve watched loads of your reviews and they just get better.

    • @tfft
      @tfft  Před 3 lety

      For most of my reviews at the moment yes I am traveling alone to simplify the process should contact-tracing ever be required if me. I only travel at times when there are no outbreaks inside Vietnam, but we are very strict about measures here so you never know… That said, I do genuinely enjoy traveling alone just as much as with others. Have been in VN long enough now that any bumps along the way are to be expected. I don’t just say this because I live here and have my livelihood here but Vietnam truly is one of the safest and easiest to navigate countries I’ve ever been to, let alone lived in. Solo travelers, families, backpackers, LGBT, seniors… are truly all welcomed here.

    Hi, I’ve been watching all your videos and they’re so helpful as I’m planning a Vietnam holiday with my wife.
    The Mia resort versus The Anam versus Fusion resort (that you also reviewed), what would be your advice?

    • @tfft
      @tfft  Před 2 lety +3

      I’ll give it to you in three parts, all of course are only my opinion 😊
      1. The Aman is overpriced. Prices for resorts should fluctuate from country to country that they operate in, The Anam does not practice this. They are generally priced 50%+ higher than the next most expensive resort in the country (the two Six Senses) and take advantage of being the only ultra-luxe property in VN. $700-$900 would be appropriate (and if you can get it for that, then by all means, go…), $1200-$1600 is absurd for this market.
      2. Mia vs Fusion Cam Ranh, I’m going to choose the Mia every time. I love spa inclusive resorts, but the grounds and setting are more beautiful at Mia. Food slightly better. Lots more value, you could likely get an Ocean View Villa and add on some massages for less than the equivalent room at Fusion. If you’d like to try a Fusion, the one in Phu Quoc is much nicer.
      3. If I may, in the Nha Trang area, my number one pick is L’alya Ninh Van Bay. The setting is spectacular and relatively speaking it is always underpriced. Food is a bit basic but it’s a trade off I happily make for the setting. Of the 100+ hotels I’ve stayed at in the past year or two, L’alya is one of only 2 that I’m actually sending family to next year.
      Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

      We just got back from holiday in Nha Trang where we stayed at the Anam for 3 nights.
      The resort was beautiful and service impeccable.
      Am looking forward to trying the other resorts you recommended in future though.
      Price wise, we paid about $170 USD per night for a garden villa (no private pool).
      The option for private pool villa was about $355 USD per night, a stark difference to the $1200-$1600 you mentioned.

    • @tfft
      @tfft  Před rokem

      The only property in or near Quy Nhơn worth making a trip up there for is Zannier Bai San Ho. If that’s not on your list or of interest then I’d skip the stop all together to stick to one of the many resorts in the Nha Trang area. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

      @yvonneyu7567 Před rokem

      We’re planning to get to Da Nang/Hoi An from Nha Trang by car so we thought Quy Nhon would be a nice (or necessary) stop. I saw your Avani Quy Nhon video and thought about staying there for 1 night. The resort seems nice enough for a short stay. Would love to get ur input whether Avani is still a good choice as Anantara seems to be a but pricey for being right next door to Avani. Thank You!

  • @markfellows74
    @markfellows74 Před 2 lety +1

    I’m curious FF, is the water temp of the private pools refreshing or too warm, or other? Also how far is the walk back to the main facilities, or do you basically need to call for staff to drive you each time back and forth to the villa?

    • @tfft
      @tfft  Před 2 lety +1

      It’s definitely not too warm. The climate in Nha Trang is fairly consistent throughout the year temperature wise, but on the lower end in the winter months, it’s almost too cool- the pool will be super refreshing but maybe too chilly after dark. Otherwise besides rainy season the pool will be great all day.
      As for the distance- my villa was far from the facilities, which I liked. You could walk it but it’s quite hilly and maybe a 15 minute walk. There were however many rooms in the same category as me that were a stones throw from the main pool/restaurant. I think the trade off is worth it. Definitely worth putting in a request for your preference when booking. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

      @@tfft brilliant thanks very much for taking the time to respond. We are shortlisting places for a trip in April and I’ve got the green light to choose anywhere in Vietnam. Amiana is also on the list as is Phu Quoc in general. Thanks again.

    • @tfft
      @tfft  Před 2 lety +3

      If you’ll be in Nha Trang I HIGHLY recommend L’alya Ninh Van Bay. I just checked prices in April, starting just over $300. This is in my opinion hands down the best value for any resort in VN, considering the location- and my favorite room/villa of any place I’ve stayed in VN.
      For PQ, if you can tolerate no normal AC in the room (the bed itself has an eco friendly ‘cooling system’), Mango Bay Resort is my top pick and incredible value normally under $80. Even if you don’t stay there, definitely plan a sunset dinner at On The Rocks. Otherwise in PQ, Fusion is my goto and has the best beach on the island.
      Happy travels!

    • @tfft
      @tfft  Před 2 lety +1

      My villa was an Ocean Pool Villa. I’ll give the exact same advise I’ve given to my family who will visit Mia later this year. Book an Ocean Pool Villa and request villa 702. In your case, I’d request 702 + the villa to the right of it (south of it, I’m not sure if it’s 701 or 703…). In this area, you do not have easy access to the beach (just call a buggy) but you have a huge lawn in front of your pool with beautiful views up and down the rocky coast line- also, in this little “nook” there are only 3 villas total so it’s ideal for relaxation and privacy. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy the Mia! 🙏🏻

    • @tfft
      @tfft  Před 2 lety +1

      Nha Trang is very lucky to have pretty consistent weather throughout the year and a very short rainy season. July and August are ideal. Only times to avoid are October-November for rain and November-February if you don’t like slightly cooler weather.
