In this video, Chris Runge gives a demonstration on making louvers using the combination of a Pullmax type of hammer, Bead Roller and hand forming. The louvers are made in a semi-circle shape on a complex/compound curved panel.
The material used is .063 3003 H14 Aluminum. The tools used are: Body Planishing (hand) Hammer, Brass Hammer, Dollies, Nibbler Shear (Converted to Reciprocating Pullmax type Hammer), Bead Roller, Air tools for sanding and deburring, Electric Buffing/Polishing Wheel and Plasma Cutter... - Auta a dopravní prostředky
There's something thoroughly ....Thrilling ....about / Raw / Metal / Kinetic / Sculpture ❤ !!
Now you are just showing off !! BEAUTY
There is one word to describe guys that can do this kind of work! Cool!!!
Thanks for sharing your skills and knowledge of working aluminum. I hope to give this a try some day, though at a much smaller scale!
Thanks for another very interesting video Chris! Big fan of all your work
The car is beautiful. It is an amazing piece of work!!!
Great teaching tapes ,,, wonderful presentation !
What an artist! Beautiful work.
Thanks, it is nice to know that there is someone with the patience for this type of craftsmanship.
What a beautiful work, congratulations!
Your vision and designs are as amazing as the skills you have mastered. Truly an artist and a craftsman breathing life into the materials, each culminating from an object to a soul. brilliant!
Great video's thanks for posting them.
Amazing work and beautiful cars.
Your craftsmanship is, without doubt, amazing.
The finished work of art must feel like an extension of yourself...
I dont mean to be so off topic but does any of you know a tool to get back into an instagram account..?
I somehow forgot my account password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me
@Jericho Kayson instablaster ;)
@Braxton Moses I really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and Im in the hacking process now.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Braxton Moses It worked and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thank you so much you saved my account!
@Jericho Kayson no problem xD
You are a real master at what you do. And thank you for sharing. Youre videos are better at showing technique and process than the guys who teach this or even professional documentaries. You rock, Rünge.
Absolutely beautiful work!! you are a great craftsman! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!! Liked !!
You are an artist!
GREAT WORK YOU ARE DOING FRIEND
Wow!!! You are a very talented fabricator, loved the video, keep um coming.............
pure art
Du bist kein Metaller, Du bist ein Künstler der mit Metall arbeitet.
Hut ab.
Just discovered your channel tonight and I've been binging. I can't get enough. Such amazing work. I'm struggling to find a way to say how impressed I am, and how much I enjoy watching these videos. Please continue to show you're craft. I will be subscribing and eagerly awaiting each new video.
Me too. Wonderful channel -- so informative.
Your work shop is really cool!
Beautiful work
Really beautiful handmade work Chris. I'm starting to wonder how many people you have inspired in your short career as a coach builder. Looking forward to seeing more.
Your skills just keep getting better and better. I wish I had this kind of focus. ...I got the design stuff down, but I take on a lot of projects at the same time.
Wow..I just caught on these vids, truly amazing workmanship and talent.
I'm impressed, and I don't impress easily as I have over 30 yrs of metal fabricating behind me. You're an artist besides a being craftsman. I need to pick up some sheet 3003, it looks quite malleable. I've played with steel sheet on the French wheel and made simple things like motorcycle fenders.
sehr schoene Arbeit!
waow, no words been created yet to qualify your way to work and share...however, thanks a lot chris....respects from Algeria
Ładny:) Szacun za pewną ręke i oczywiście za pasję.
I found this video by looking at louver videos on CZcams my background in life Is actually woodworking followed by a love of cars and motorcycles mostly but not limited to British sty;ing and engineering the car you have shaped an created is a amazing creation in both skill and talent As it most definitely b;ends the Beaty of the Italian and German styling perhaps even a small touch of British an German design as well. I love that it is not influenced by one styling but of many. Making it. A very unique and stand alone auto I am very envious of your skills on metal working as any of mine have been very basic self taught ones i am lucky in a way that i do have relatives that own and operate a machine shop and welding company ! And one of my Grand dads was a professional welder his entire life ive done some grunt work in the industry like running a shear and grinding and polishing but ive always had a high respect for guys that can shrink and stretch flat metal into the compound curves as you did i did subscribe to your channel and. Hopefully will learn more about the awesome car You featured in the video. I did watch
Just wanted to personally reach out and thank you for showing how you did this. This video helped me tremendously to work through my current project shown in my latest upload. Thank you!
incretable craftmanship I wish I coud do that
Range and Make it Kustom are cool channels
Thank you most useful videos really helpful
Excellent!
Beautiful work and nice Snoopy tool on that dzus button...👍😎
You could also use an architect's snake for those compound shapes, especially if you get a 50's or 60's one that's made out of metal. They are as the name implies compound curve drawing aides for an architect, but they do lend themselves for something like this as well, and being that they are from metal, the heat won't hurt them at any temperature.
Mind blowing
Hermoso; claro que nos visitan seres de otros mundos, vienen a ver joyas como éstas! 🤙
You should make some more videos! I'd love to see a low car with a volkswagen beetle back mixed with the front of a porsche 356. That would be amazing!
Great work. The air from the scoop won't actually "drain" into the wheel well though. The air in a wheel well is extremely turbulent and high pressure from a spinning tire--why all those old race cars (and the DTM cars now) have vents to let that air drain out and keep the car more planted to the road. Please keep the videos coming.
Love what you’re doing. Amazing. If I lived closed I would just hang out like a stray dog till you let me in or called the cops hahaha
thanks for sharing your skills i love car you
The Porsche Spider is one sexy car, so anything that remotely looks like one is ok with me.
Id love to do the welding!!
Wauuuu BRAVO!
Leave a shorter lip on the bottom of a louver so you can then (on the top) bend it around and get a thicker, rounded edge. The aspect finish is much more pleasant to the eye, and, it's easier to make it this way rather than to weld it. Vintage film projectors had this type of louver because you'd touch the item a lot and thin sheets of metal are a no no for such an item, but like i said, aspectually it looks better.
Amazing video!!, thanks for posting...25 dislikes, really???...
Those are absolutely beautiful cars that is exactly what I'm into have you thought about using leather straps like the Porsche Ralph Lauren has?
Gob smacked. Now that's skill. Any RWB hero can bolt on plastic arches but not many can do this.
Again "Berry interesting" work you are doing ! I gotta tell ya it looks very tight fit in the interior. This is from a person who is 6'8" tall, it is a small cabin area for a seated adult. But hey you're doing grade A bonfide quality work i enjoy watching the creative work.
Hi, Chris. I've done a couple of small things with metal shaping so far, but I'm still low on the learning curve. I've now seen several of your videos and absolutely love your cars.
I've seen the aluminum tubing "framework" for the bodies in each video. Will the body panels be welded to the framework when they're finished? I'm thinking they will, but not positive. Also, how are you mounting the aluminum framework to the chassis if it's permanent?
Thanks,
Your skills are amazing
I’d love to see how you make your windshields
It's beautiful but, I'd like to see you work in a Shelby Cobra.
greetings from Mexico friend
Awesome work! Where are you located?
How many sheets of 3003 does it take to build a whole car? Anyone have a guess or know the answer?
I was curious about your garage/shop size and the machines you have available to do the work you do - can you outline that or respond and tell me? Thanks! Beautiful and amazing work sir.
Wonder if you know joe stafford in Bethleham New Hampshire. He too is a coach builder.Made alot of 550 spyders and Rsk's..
Check him out some time.
I love your work.I built the dash and hoop , the front fenders , nose the rockers inner and outer , the back fire wall for a 550 spyder. That was alot of work.Deafening, lots of bag and english wheel.
I just started watching videos, I have noticed that your volume is real low is there any way to do something with your audio? I'm a year behind your builds so hopefully you've got your low audio issues resolved, I love your work by the way. Thank You.
I want this car ;)
Have you ever seen gold colored silicon bronze welds with aluminum and stainless steel?
👍
are all of your platforms that you use Porsche?
молодец!!!
Are you planning to do any Ferrari early race cars.. ?.
Better not let Jay Leno See that car! LOL
My jaw is on the floor. But I can see how you use your vision to create the different steps involved. And I thought my machined aluminum table was something. Any time I have to start curving stuff I just go into a stupor. Although, in my defense, my stovepipe worked. No tools, just banging sheet around a pipe. Kindergarten in comparison.
Is the 1/2 inch aluminum tubing, the one used for the wire frame?
Yes, I use that for my guide and also hammer form my wheel arches around it, then weld them to it. It provides a very rigid structure when all bonded and fixed to chassis. I would go as far to say that the car could be lifted by the 4 fender arches, that is how strong it is.
Why do I feel like I've seen this video before? Also wouldn't slitting dies on the bead roller be a better way to go about cutting vs the plasma? Good job though
Slitting dies are okay. I've done it both ways but for this video, I chose my plasma cutter. Slitting dies can tear up the aluminum when working on curved shapes like this.
GREAT WORK CAN I ASK JUST HOW MUCH IS TO BUILD A CAR OUT OF ALUMINUM !
Let’s just say I have a pretty realistic view of why this type of coach building has nearly gone extinct... It is highly labor intensive...
Your a true car guy, building what you want instead of buying it like the poser Jay Leno. What type of wheelie machine were you using before you bought the cast metal ace?
Aaron Dalton, Leno just funds these types of builds. Without somebody buying them there is few reasons to keep making them.
gills and fins.
Is there a finished car to view?

So are these your cars,or customers?????
do you sell your cars ?
are those come in red ? :O
What patience that guy must have ... probably no girl or ha ha ..
Not interested in what it’s for…show us the process….. same mistake so many ‘tubers make….
