    I've been converting to Orthodoxy for about 2 months now (wow time flies...) and these two videos have been life changing for me. I came to Orthodoxy for the truth, and I did find that, but these talks made everything fall into place to make me see what really matters, being the Orthodox life itself. It's an odd mix of disappointing (no quick solution) and having found the purpose for my life that I've been looking for all this time. Having to live the Orthodox life means I literally have something for which I need to live, which means a reason to live. That was the reason I left behind atheism 10 years ago to seek purpose in religion, and without expecting it, in these two videos, I suddenly found it. My earlier Protestant ideas somewhat provided a reason to exist, but not yet a reason to live. I still hadn't found what I was looking for, until now. Thank you. God bless you.

    When she said the story of the man who had demon attacks and asked God where he was and God said I wanted to watch you struggle, that kind of threw me because the thought of wanting to watch someone struggle seemed odd but then I thought of like when my family would come watch me at a running event. They wanted to see me struggle like in an accomplishment. I’m new to orthodoxy so not sure if I’m processing that correctly.

    This brought tremendous help to the Church. The way you explain things and make it so easy to understand without using a highly theological language is a gift from God.
    In our church many people really absorbed your presentation and the catechumens were cheering about it. They watched it in a breath.
    Glory to God for creating this opportunity for us.
    Especially now in the post-covid era we really need things analyzed and clarified and more than that we need to go back to the roots of our Church and redefine our Tradition and boundaries.
    So much needed!

    God Bless you!!!! I've noticed some people are so rigid with some traditions that they lose their beauty in your eyes. When entering the Orthodox Church I loved all the traditions even though no one told me to mainly because they ADDED to the worship and not replaced them. Unfortunately, I'd encountered some people with pharisaic views that temporarily turned me off towards some of the beautiful traditions of the Church and even made me flee from them. I think that's what makes the Orthodox Church stand out from others: loving the traditions because they have been handed down by Saints. Most often we imitate people we admire simply because we want to be like them and follow them in their footsteps. But once people make rules out of them, they lose their beauty and become a burden.

    I think I may have an idea about "phronema". Could we liken it to discipline, self-discipline, given that etymologically discipleship exists in these words. Therefore, a collective discipleship manifests within the church. We bring it to the table. To our churches. That of teacher and pupil, pupil and teacher. Your thoughts?

    • @mnelson1960
      @mnelson1960 Před 10 měsíci +1

      I like that - an internalized collective discipleship.

    • @HomoEucharistica
      @HomoEucharistica Před 9 měsíci +2

      That's actually very good way to put it, though it can limit our perspective on *phronema* as well. "A collective discipleship" (even being 100% true) leads to think more about the way of life (praxis) and teachings, but "the mind of Christ" is easily ignored... even though one could note that disciples grow to have similar mindset as their teacher.

      This quote from John 20:23: " If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” NIV
      Christ was speaking to his disciples, and confession was part of Christian practice from early on. Historically it can be traced back to the early Christians. They would actually do public confessions in front of the entire Christian community. As the centuries went by, it became a private matter. The priest has been ordained by a bishop who is in a long line of succession going back to the apostles. Also, you aren't speaking to Presvytera Eugenia. • @Trisagionfilms
      @Trisagionfilms  Před 2 lety +6

      Salvation is the healing of humanity. Humanity fell away from God and became sick and broken because it lost its union with God. In Christ, that union is attained at its fullest and once Christ was crucified and risen from the dead He restored humanity to where God intended it to be from the beginning. In Christ, humanity after His resurrection was perfected and rendered immortal. Once He ascended to Heaven, He honored and Glorified humanity in Himself by having it united in Him seated at the Right Hand of the Father. Those who unite themselves to Christ both spiritually (through prayer) and physically (through the Body and Blood of Christ in Holy Communion) are also healed and restored to where God wants us to be, until we are fully restored and perfected at the Final Resurrection. Please, get on the path to union with Christ and you will taste of His Grace in the measure He wants to provide it to you. (Fr. Panayiotis Papageorgiou)

      It sounded to me more like this was about people who believe that all the "Branches of Christianity" lead to the same place and have the same grace from God, and to say that only the Orthodox Church has grace is a limited way of looking at the world. The idea that the Orthodox Church isn't ethnically diverse is untrue.

Protestants teach that Christ went to hell after his death. That is just not true. I am not comfortable in using the word heterodox. There is one church, the rest is herecy. I have Protestant friends and we get along very well, but I do not pray with them. I pray for them though and I love them!

      No brother, that is not what we believe...it's also not what she said...I understand where you're coming from because in the west, faith and works are seen as two very different things and the connection between them is lost... the Orthodox perspective is more complex... God looks at someone's heart... this is what happens when you take something out of context ...if you look at Orthodox saint stories, I think you'll get a better understanding... nothing we do can earn us anything but it does show our openness and willingness to follow God but there are plenty of stories where people did good "works" that were not saved because they did it pridefully .... Good works comes as a natural consequence of good faith...but also there are people in the Orthodox saint stories that only at the last second turned to Christ without having any good "work" in their life but were saved because of their humility.... and then there are people who always believed in God but they were too lazy to follow their conscious to do good works and just layed around all day but proclaimed that Christ is Lord but they didn't care enough to turn away from worldy pleasures and were not grieved by the sins they did... this person has a dead faith... it's a state of the soul that in reality isn't open to God... even Satan believes in God but that is not enough...
