  • A group of us hiked the Great Ocean Walk in December 2023. We were lucky to have 5 days of great weather and only one day of rain. This trip was a bit of a change for me as we stayed in cabins instead of camping. Each day we had a bed, shower and excellent food.

Lovely memories, thanks for sharing your adventure Claire and what great conditions you had! I did my 4th traverse of the GOW in mid-November…it’s certainly one of my favourites and I seem to discover something new each time I’ve hiked it.

Thanks Mike! We were definitely lucky with the weather only really having one rainy day and one scorching hot day. That's amazing you have done it four times, I imagine each time you see and experience it differently, especially during different months.

Thanks for sharing. How do you arrange the location of accomodation each day? Your own transport means shuttle service? We are a group from Taiwan. Im thinking of licensed tour or following your modal which looks nice to me.

We used a company called Walk91 (walk91.com.au/) who arranged the accomodation and transport for us each day. They also worked out a suitable itinerary based off the groups needs. As we were a large group they had options for those who needed to finish the walk earlier each day, depending on injuries or capabilities. They were very good. I understand there are other companies out there that do the same thing. I am not associated with Walk91.

    How were the campsites?

The campsites looked really good with shelters and pit toilets. As I was hiking with a large group of friends, we opted for off track accomodation and arranged our own transport for the end of each day (I call that luxury multi day hiking!)
