Just to add: I think a good way of establishing oneself with the runes is to take one rune and study it for day (reading about it in books, online etc.). Meditate with it think about all the possibilities of what it can mean to you as well as what it symbolizes in general. It also helps to carry it around with you for that day. By the time you reach the end after about a month or 24 days to be exact, I think you'll find that not only do you, first of all remember all of the runes better, but it's also helps with being more intuitive when you go to do your readings.

making your own runes can be more affective for most considering they put their own energy into them. i made my own as well and they work just as fine. maybe even better.:)

Im a jewelry maker, and I bought a pound of raw amethyst on etsy awhile back. Later on, I used black and gold ink to ink runes into the STONE side of the amethyst (not the crystal). So I have rough amethyst runes:) To protect them, I placed them in a box full of dried lavendar. I wouldve used a cloth, but that wont protect them from rubbing on each other, so I used lavendar so it can get between them and protect them from chipping. They also smell wonderful! I like to keep a selenite palm stone inside of the box with the runes to keep them charging! They arent easily portable, but I loved the process of making them and feel so connected to them. I highly suggest creating runes if you are able:)

I made my own runes from pebbles I picked up in the river.
One important thing I never really see talked about except in heathen circles is that Norse mythology seems to suggest that the runes have spirits attached to them, and that they expect something in exchange for being used in magical practice. You kind of need to give them an offering when you use rune stones, or they will probably take their payment from somewhere else in your life - and in that event, you donât get to choose what they take in exchange!

Hello, do you know of any appropriate offerings one would need to give to the spirits before using the runes?
Hey, do you have any sources for this? I'd just like to state that I've never read anything in any documentation anywhere that states that you have to give offerings to your runes when you use them. I'm not saying your UPG is wrong, but I do believe it's wrong to say that "this is how it is"
You can interpret it how you want though I mean if you place a negative connotation to it like that, then you will manifest it..
Iâve been drawn to runes for a very long time. From drawing them on my hands and arms throughout middle school to carving them into trees and rocks in the name of Odin.
When going through my families old things I found a small pouch of these and I couldn't figure out what they were. I remember my great grandmother used them but I was very little so I didn't remember what she used them for. Thank you, great video

I find runes to be quite difficult to use but I am very interested in learning them, on another note I used to live in the woods and recently moved too the desert Arizona specifically and this land is so filled with wonder and mysterious energy and spirits

There are also Celtic runes. The ogham are the Celtic runes. Iâve made several sets of runes for myself
The Ogham is one of the more difficult divination methods... but they're not the same as th he Norse runes... they are closer the staves that also are used

I am also a ritual minimalist.
I often use the things I find in nature at my favorite ritual sites.
I draw 9 Runes and shake them and cast them all on the cloth .
The ones closer to the center are closest to the present and most immediately relevant, and work my way out until I get to the farthest out.i only read the ones right side up.
I also read the reverse readings for the ones that land upside down but with the rune up.
All else are considered mirk staves.
I may read those after the first initial reading and remove the ones I have read.
These are the ones that landed rune side down.
I read these from inside, closest to the center to the outside just like the first.
I consider these as distant future
Runes help me in my day to day. Drawing it on my left hand. And rune "formulas" help with my mental health aspect.

I used an unnatural medium. I had a feeling I should buy some black glass drops at the dollar store. $1 for like 50 of them. A week later, I started learning about rune divination coincidentally. So, I took my engraving tool and started engraving runes onto the glass drops. They turned out really badass. The frosting that the engraving tool made on the surface of the smooth glass turned out grey, so there are shallow grey valleys making the runes on them. I sleep with them under my head or leave them on my altar when I'm not using them.

Well said. Runes that i used is elder runes ( futhark). And i do agree witg u...as tarot reader, runes has it's own function as divination tools, we can use method of spreads ( whatever u want) it can be one, three, five or six or if u need clarity more u can use whatever u want to read the meaning of themselves. âšâš

You are right about making one's own runes... that is how it has been in the olden days, that is still true... but only for those who strongly believe.
This is a wonderful video! I've started out with tarot, but I feel drawn to runes because of my Nordic ancestry. i'd love to make my own set. There is a beach I like to visit that is made of quartz pebbles that would make really nice runes.
I've found elder futhark runes are most effective for me. A couple of castings have told me a lot about myself and allowed me to connect to the deep parts of my soul

I first learned about runes at the local New Age shop in the very early '90s so I tend to still think of them as a New Age thing to make divination a lot simpler than the Tarot.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised to find that they've been drawn into Wicca by now.
I'm fascinated with the symbols, especially how they can be used to easily carve a message onto a simple stick.
The nuance in the Norns spread is in the relationship between the past, present, and future. With the three card Tarot spread, you have a strictly linear sequence of events in chronological order. First A, then after A comes B, and after B comes C. With the Norns, the relationship is very different, because all three sisters exist simultaneously. The past never truly goes away, because it's the foundation that the present is built on. In the same way, the present will never go away, because it's the foundation for the wyrd, or fate. Instead of a sequence of events, like with Tarot, the Norns give you more of a grouping of circumstances.
Ever read the Old English Rune Poem? Futhorc was pretty similar to futhark. The Ing rune interest me with Ing being identified as the constellation Boötes with his wain being Ursa Major

All in all a pretty good video. Two things I would like to say. First in regards to making your own runes, you can also carve the sticks, bits of wood or stone you use. This is something of a harder tast but creates a more permanent item. You can also make them from clay if you want.
Second is that i Runes where origionally ment to be interpreted with there facing as a factor. Depending on if there upside down or right side up it can drastically change the advice. For this reason I highly think people should always read them in the way they face. This seems to be the general consensus from the sources i have found. It is however my opinion

â@p.l.rising7672 you clearly don't understand the purpose of reading runes. It's not putting your faith in any gods or idols. It's about working on and with yourself so that you may serve and nurture not only others in your life and community but also to nourish God. A couple of quotes from a very old book I have about the history and interpretation of runes for you to consider before assuming it's evil or even that different from Christianity.
"For if the ancient principle 'As above so below' is true, then we are also here to nourish God."
"Enjoy your good fortune and remember to share it; the mark of a well-nourished self is the willingness to nourish others."
Reading Runes at its core boils down to therapy just without the actual therapist, but the person casting them working on their own spiritual growth. Reading runes is simply looking at the questions you ask in your mind from different perspectives, making you look from other angles and asking questions you might not have otherwise. But basically my point is don't speak from such an obvious position of ignorance. You have zero knowledge of runes or the practice you just assume because it's not Christian in basis that it's evil and witchcraft. When you do some actual research then maybe try to have a discussion.

Make your own runes. It's worth it. Just buy stones from the dollar what and get like paint or a marker and put your own energy into every rune as you draw them. Think about each rune's meaning as you draw it out. If you have stones remaining create compound runes. (Some idiot is going around saying I'm a liar about this but I have multiple sets of runes and multiple books with various rune meanings).

Runes are mainly associated with Scandinavia, but not only Scandinavia used runes. In Scandinavia it lasted the longest and was not erased by Christianity, as in my country, Poland. Runes are a graphic record of speech, the arrangement of the tongue, lips and teeth. The inscription was modified depending on the language of the country and later transformed into the Latin alphabet. The first inscription in the Polish language were runes. Today, they appear on a Polish 10 PLN banknote. there is a coin of the first Christian king of Poland with a runic inscription - Mieszko. Of course, runes are also used for fortune telling.

Yesterday I went to a rocky beach and I got a ton of rocks and I made my own runes I had been studying and writing about them for a while and I figured I wanted to make some so when we went to the beach I was like this is perfect so now I have my own runes and I am learning how to cast them since I basically know what they mean but I don't really know how to cast them so this video was very helpful
the idea behind these things working for divination and such, is that...........everything has a frequency, your words, sounds, your thoughts, and even letters in writing or runes in this case, everything has a frequency that is emitted, colors have a frequency as well, and it's a combination or synergy of frequencies that will have a specific effect, once that takes time to show its results, or one that is almost immediate.

Just completed first set of organite runes using clear resin layered with crystal shavings, magnets, key cutting occurs, glow in dark resin multicoloured resin dust, crystal chips and a few Datura seeds. Half Celtic heritage leading me towards Druidic order of golden Dawn, whilst currently working through hermetics, alot of Hebrew and enochian. My first 3 norms spread past hail, present water, future day... It hasnt intuitevely helped me glean much, but does cover exac to weather over last couple of days

i made my own rune set with stones a while back, and iâm rly wanting to get to know them better and use them
I find the Odin's 9-stone method to be fairly good at divining the past, present, and future in general. I've done readings for a handful of people and they've all said that it's fairly accurate and take the advice the stones give them. I read reversals as the total opposite of the rune's connotation. And the varying degrees to which the rune is right-side-up or reversed mean the degree to which the connotation is intended and how much you should focus on that aspect in the reading. It produces some really intricate readings for me.
Please share diagrams with me and their meanings, I am meant for this, I need direction, I will make my own runes by hand of stone, I am very capable with natural elements, stone or wood, i need the design and interpretation, very important to me if you have the time thank you

In Serbia we still saved the oldest 18 runes from the world. Many of these Nordic runes are inspired on the Serbian runes. I'm bout to take my first tattoo of the rune Ud, which is associated with the old Serbian God of the sun: Jarilo.

I have been drawn to Runes for so long..its like somthing is telling me to learn how to use them..but i dont know shit..lately its more in my mind to learn yiiikesđ€
I made an axe,as a tool and if necesary a weapon(not a great one since its heavy as hell)
And i placed Tyr's rune by carving it and placing juice of one berry i fond,it had a dark red almost balck color
So you can do the same with runes really
Find good peace of wood
Make like "coins" out of it and do the thing i did
Maybe you will have to color them few times since its not a natural dye just a juice that leaves color.
But in my eyes better then a sharpie.not gonna judge the ones who used a sharpie but this is more natural way :)

I notice that you have the Ralph Blum Runes. I too use his Runes and usually buy his set only because they are an affordable set and are flat and clear but I throw away the book that comes with it because I find it to be useless. I love the quartz crystal ones like amethyst but I can't use them because they don't lay flat but I still think they are good for spells but that's about it.
Yes, I agree that Ralph Blum's book is definitely not the best resource. Do you have any rune books you'd recommend? I'm always on the look out for good books about runes. :)
I threw mine away also. There is a lot of Christianity blended with the teachings. I found it to be really useless and quite annoying as it was Christianity that destroyed the old ways of heathen craft.

You can read runes any way you like. Divination is a language, a VERY personal one. Learn and experiment and practice all you can and you will see your own instinctive language develop. If using all runes the traditional way appeals more to you, maybe that is your language.
