As far as I understand, many "street racing" laws don't actually require a race between two vehicles, but rather only gratuitous acceleration.
Street racing is also reckless driving and you can do that all by yourself you do not have to go against another car.

The officer immediately escalated the situation by demanding your keys. Approaching like that will immediately cause everyone involved to be tense. Seems like he has that demeanor on the job and enjoys it. He wanted you to know he was in control and could do what he wanted. That is exactly the type of person you don’t want having a badge.

And no it is not the fkn law to get out the car just because. You are required to exit your vehicle if you are suspected of carrying a weapon or drugs or if you are reckless driving. Did you catch him saying “Exhibition of Speed.” That statute here in Arizona ARS 28-708 consists of Racing on Arizona Highways AND/OR Exhibition of Speed- which is one of the dumbest fucking laws. You can accelerate to the speed limit and that in itself can be considered under that statute.

@@mhauserman yeah I have never seen a "display of speed" or "exhibition of speed" law that is not incredibly vague and up for interpretation, for example, my 1.6l Mazda could get a ticket for it if I floor it, but my brothers ninja 300 would get up to 100 in the same time if he was like a 3rd throttle( 12 seconds for my car 0-100 kph vs 5.2 for the bike) and we could both get a ticket for display of speed, even though he was just cruising it up to 100

Some. I’ve been pulled over by some cops that’s been super cool, even sat there afterwards and talked about cars/my car. I’ve had 2 that we’re a’holes, one tried to say I was speeding excessively, EXCESSIVELY, because he had to do over 70 in a 25 for 3/4 a mile to catch up to me, but never hit me with the radar and never truly clocked me over the speed limit. Another who tried to arrest me because my tires literally barked turning out a tight parking lot with a spool in the rear diff of my truck, and he couldn’t tell me the charges and after a few minutes of arguing he finally gave up on that.
I wonder how many crimes were actually being committed during this..

I'd say request the body cam of that officer but he didn't have one. However, they usually carry voice recorders on their duty belt if they don't have a body cam. Departments are cheap sometimes and get the voice recorder which is a fraction of the cost as a body cam.

Never pay a traffic ticket,always contest it by asking for a JURY when it comes time to pay,they usually extend it another 6 months and usually throw it out because now you are wasting tax payers money by having a JURY!! It always works for me in Texas with the 5 times I had to go to court for traffic tickets....

There actually is no clear probable cause for arrest, if there is no evidence that proves he was racing, and if he was not pulled over for speeding; unless there is measured quantifiable evidence (speedometer) that can be presented in court, his rights were completed violated and this is illegal. Also if he did not consent to a search pre-arrest and there is no reasonable suspicion which there is none, then he can easily fight this in court.

Yeah if you hear that ask for a Supervisor or Watch Commander. No officer ever does that even the ones I work with never ever ask someone for their keys. I showed this to some officers and they disagreed with what they did highly.
I got told that by a California highway patrol when I was racing, he came up to me and asked me to give him the keys just like he did to tallguy.
I have been instructed in the loudspeaker to turn the engine off and put my keys on top of my roof. Was also a bogus traffic stop thought I was a hustler. Ended up with no charges. Idk how police get to do these things and not get held accountable for it.

This happened to me in AZ as well. Got snatched out of my car on suspicion of exhibition of speed when I was 18. Ticket was like $500 and I lost my license. If you are going to drive around with those cars you have to know your rights. He could ask you to step out of the car, but that is not a lawful order. It is up to you to give up your rights. You have the right to ask for a supervisor on the scene. He can not confiscate your equipment without a warrant or your consent. He can not enter your vehicle without a warrant or your consent. You should really brush up on your constitutional rights if you intend to go head to head with these people. Everything is a learning experience. Learn from this experience. I will support!!! I think it just gets iffy when a camera was used to record a crime. MAYBE they still need a warrant to seize the phone/camera with the incriminating evidence, but if I’m not mistaken, I thought cops can outright take anything that was used in a “crime” can’t they? I know it’s wrong but isn’t it technically legal for the cops to do that? Or do they need a search warrant and then seize the camera/phone?
I thought that went for cameras to because most people now use cameras in the car for they’re own protection against things such as this and they even advertise them as for your OWN evidence. I would think it would require at least for something to be filed in order to take it unless it was stolen property or something but I’m no expert. Would be really messed up though if that’s lawful because in that case everyone using cameras for they’re own protection would be for nothing because all it would take is for them to take it and then destroy any evidence that may have protected you. I would hope surely this was not lawful (not saying that it being lawful or not would prevent them from still doing it) but even if they wanted it for evidence of a crime I would hope that a judge would be the one required to take it not just allowing anyone pulling you over to “seize” YOUR evidence. If so NO point in having your own cameras for protection.
there is something called "plain view evidence" because the camera is in plain view the cop can sieze it if he deems it may contain evidence on a crime,if the camera is in a locked box then he cant access it without a warrant, keep a locked box in your car and they can't legally go in it without probably cause.
