    Also some of the people who were in jallianwala Bagh weren't even protesters. They had come with their families to the baisakhi gathering. (Baisakhi is the harvest festival in the Punjab region)

    My mom is Punjabi and her kulche naan is the best. Not to mention, being a Sikh Punjabi is the best. I don't care what anyone says, we have the best food, culture, and people.

    The Sikhs are wonderful people - good natured, compassionate and fearless too when required. I've had the pleasure of several Sikh friends and colleagues. Love them all. Punjabi music and cuisine absolutely rocks too! Great video Karl and Manisha and very thought provoking too.

    Totally agree, Amritsar is one of our Favorit Citys in India! Such a nice and peacefull vibe and even as a foureigner you dont have people trying to sell you stuff all the time. We even got free rikshaw drives there. Beat that :D

    I am British and have visited the partition museum and the massacre memorial gardens, both were very deeply upsetting places for a patriotic British person.
    I have to say though I don't know of that general being rewarded here for what he did, he is a murderer!

      @@theoonyoutube thanks I didn't know that. I did know many Indian soldiers helped throughout Africa and the Middle East but if honest and very controversial so I apologise in advance I believe there was no difference between a person in the UK, Canada or India during the days of empire, we were all British, for me English first and then British and for Indians the same but of course Indian first.
      Going on a tangent that is why I feel it is important for us the UK to better support the people of Hong Kong whom we far more recently through to the wolves of China!

    Hi Karl, I’m from Amritsar but currently living in Christchurch,NZ.
    I actually grown up in Amritsar and spent my 24 years there. It’s a safe city for tourists but you can find dodgy people everywhere and being a border town we never felt unsafe here. I hope you enjoyed your trip to Amritsar. 😀

    Been watching in Australia for a while! My dad and I visited Amritsar February 2018! Loved it! Dehli was the worst place we visited because of the locals who are so rude an arrogant! But we still had a great time. Thankfully my dad speaks 4 languages and being Gujarati it helped!

    On March 13 1940, Udham Singh- a Sikh Punjabi freedom fighter- shot General Michael O'Dyer at a joint meeting of the East India Association and the Central Asian Society at Caxton Hall, London. Udham Singh did not flee from the spot and was arrested for the killing. During his trial, Udham Singh said he had waited 21 years to kill General Michael O'Dyer as the British official “wanted to crush the spirit of my people, so I crushed him.”

      Not the beginning, the first big thing was probably 1857 when the Hindu and Muslim Indian troops in the British Army mutinied because they found out their rifle cartridges were greased with both pork and beef fat.

    1 they were at religious place so they think that it would be good to make statues of their sikh warrors instead of dancing people

    Most famous historical city for me.
    Loved golden temple so much wow I feel like I have visited one of the seven wonders of world.

    11:35 ... a general advice when travelling; museums around the world tend to be closed on Mondays 😀 It’s not a strict rule, but there’s a big chance a museum is closed on Mondays.
