  • In this video, I'll be listening to a song by Wintergatan that was done with an instrument using 2000 marbles called Marble Machine! This was a song that was requested to me because of the absolutely insane instrument that he uses to create the song and how much precision went into building this machine! If you haven't seen this yet, you'll definitely want to check it out!
If you enjoy the video, please don't forget to like and subscribe!

I do not own the rights to this song. It belongs to Wintergatan, Martin Molin, and all others involved.

Wintergatan is a Swedish band, and one of the members (the guy in this video) built this crazy machine. He has several videos where he goes through the mechanics of it, and the process of building it. Complete insanity, and so brilliant. :)

Martin Molin is a straight up genius, there is no other way to put it. It's as if Mozart and Nikola Tesla had a child.

You were right -- the wheel is covered with Lego pegs. The positioning of the pegs determine when and where the marbles drop -- much like the holes in a music roll for a player piano. Theoretically, Martin could "program" a different song simply by moving the pegs around. Unfortunately, his machine was so fragile that it broke almost right after they completed the video, so there were no other songs played on it. Martin is currently building a sturdier machine.

Oh, for refecense that was his (Martin is the artis and inventor behin the constraption) wooden consept prototype.
Wintergatan has done an actual version out of metal and genuine mechanical parts in/on it. And yes, he has done full live performance with as well. So yeah, go and check his channel: Wintergatan.

Wintergatan has a lot of songs on bandcamp. He also makes videos on how he builds his instruments, measuring, ordering parts, testing, tweaking. Those are almost if not more interesting than the music videos :)

Martin is the guy in the video. It took him a year to make this machine and is currently working on The Marble Machine X which he plans to take on a world tour. He is 3 years into making V2

Marble Machine X had been abandoned by Martin (but a team of dedicated Wintergatan fans are working to complete it) and he is working on a scaled-up machine that would work for live performance before an audience.

That was the only song on that version of the machine. He has parts of songs Martin did while working on the MMX. You can hear his final jam session with that version in his 20,000 Marble Test livestream posted on the Wintergatan 2 channel. *Great reaction video btw!* Martin stopped work on the MMX a year ago and has been designing the MM3 using better engineering and design.

Hah that moment when he opens up the first lever to allow for the bell melody and people realize Wintergatan is quite the capable artist. And then the dubble whammy when the bassline kicks in. By the way, that friend that recommended this rocks, they have great taste.

Switching it up but still going with a swedish artist. 😅🇸🇪 as a Swede I approve of this reaction streak! 👌🏻 Wintergatan means Milky Way and this was the first/old machine. Hes working on the 2.0 now. 😉

Actually he ditched his second machine after a couple of years of work and right now is working on a third machine. But this time all in CAD so that he can decide if a full machine will work.
