Congratulations to whoever put that little beast together. That is the most appealing and usable looking tracked vehicle I have seen. I would put a towbar on it and use it round these har hills.
This was the kind of vehicle I really wanted in the late 1980's when I had to settle for a FL350 Honda odyssey dune buggy type atv. It was a lot of fun as long as you didn't go through deep water or mud. When I say deep I mean 6" to 8", and the belt for the CVT transmission would get wet and start slipping. I always wanted to put 750cc motorcycle engine in it and do away with the cvt and use chain drive.
It appears to be the drive shaft for the right track, that would explain why he retrys the hill a couple of times, because the machine is now trying to make a right turn at all times with the resistance of the tracks being the only thing stopping it
They aren't really comparable.... Ripsaw was designed for a much different purpose, and was built by people with an excessive amount of money. This one is smaller, lighter, and much more suited for one person. And it has a lot more than twice the power that this one has. ;)
There are many, many different drive systems for tank tread style vehicles. Skid steering can be controlled in lots of different ways. Depends on how much power you're working with, what kind of durability you need, ease to install. I use hydraulic drive on one of mine, and a mechanical system on the other.
either use a differtional and pivot steer or you can use hydralics and do a 360 but costs a lot more, with hydrulics you can reverse one side and go forward the other .just like with excavators i like to operate :]
I just love it when ppl on here get all fiesty and start mouthin off at ppl they dont even know, tough stuff, no really, really macho stuff. I cant be bothered with all that so....chillax pplz, life is too damn short to fussed about what some other guy on the net said, sheesh. That thing looks like a beast, the turbo whistle is pretty cool too and as the title implied, they were testing, testing to destruction. Like to see a skidsteer wheel loader do that
Are you using an open differential with individually braked axles for steering control? If so, does it go relatively straight, or do you have to constantly adjust the direction of the vehicle?
Ripsaw are not for kids anyway wyrdmagyk. I guess they could have installed a less expensive motor in it for more normal use, but it was part of a competition and needed to have show-off.
Hi there, I'm looking to build one of these but have a couple questions... First off; which wheel is being powered in this model? Second; what tranny did you use? Is it a hydraulic powered shaft to each side? Thanks and awesome work!
no see the engine goes thorugh a box or sometin like that that has a propeller in it and it drives the other side without direct drive,[thats what i heard'] sometimes i hear that when you push a lever one side it engages that side in the diff, not exactly or not even close to a car
not with hydralics it doesn't. it goes through something called a swash plate which i heard your levers are hooked up to that chage the pressure speed and flow of the hydralics going to the motor.or your levers could be hooked up to valves i guess;]

Great implementation!
Love the engine roar.
What a blast! Great design!

love the sound of it! and also the general awesomeness!
I elect this as my " Favorite Vid of the Week."
gotta love a diesel. especially with a turbo. that thing sounds mean. have fun and cool video.
Wicked. has a nice sound too :) the turbo goes insane
i know what to name it... kidney Damage.....actually its pretty cool
This is a pretty good efffort managing to cramm at that in a small vehicle and make it perform well
Love it! Must be a blast to drive!
It managed to bust the drive axle? Wow.
Great job!! Everyone needs one of these.
looks hell of a lot of fun to drive that thing

That engine sounds very distinctive. That most likely is a Briggs & Stratton Vanguard 31 HP in-line 3 cylinder big-block turbo diesel.
Машина просто зверюга!!!

;)
Nice. I need one of these. Gotta watch those arms though. Hold them in real tight to the body.
I love the sound of that turbo on that little diesel. Let alone the whole vehicle is awesome.
Who manufacured the diesel engine and turbo charger.
the use of it is FUN ... it's enough use for me to build a similiar one :)
but I don't have money to even buy a TIG welding tool...
I need one of these to get to work. Snow be damned!

Dude, the tracks are dangerously close to your hands... you should put some casing over them...
Wow the ride is so plush!
Great Fun!
Kudos to some nice fab work.
Where did you get the tracks?
That is awesome!!! What kind of motor and trans is that? Where did you get the tracks, do you have build plans for it?
Thats a chewwy little bugger COOL.
You could get the tracks from a Bobcat dealer.....use any track from those little skid steers and excavators.
Best ATV ever!
i think i will it looks really really fun! Where do you get the tracks? are they rubber?

that is pretty cool i wood like to tryo one of trhose
Nice bit of kit!

Like to see a skidsteer wheel loader do that
this thing make the personal tracked vehicle look like a chew toy for this
You can have rip - saw.. this thing is practical for getting where i want to go.
It must be comfortable. :)
Damn! his left hand is RIGHT by the track.... :*)
Ultimate hunting vehicle right there!
veramente grandioso! complimenti! Marco. Italia.
awesome! looks unstoppable! but you could probably use a neck brace... ;)
perkelä. What a machine!
Nice little diesel you have there.
If you've got the money it's definitely the way to go
not sure what youre trying to say but NO it was the axle shaft.hence the disc brake .
that is cool
nice vehicle great
Sick CREATION!!!
Now that is brilliant!
and i do agree the ripsaw is badass
i admire your originality
that thing is like rockabybaby. lol but i like it
Add a little platform for standing on on the back, and a machinegun over the driver seat and you got a Cute Machine of Death!
I need that thing for going to school in winter...
im in the crazy home made machine part of you tube agin
That turbo diesel make's it a 1000x cooler
Needs a M60!
lol the little tugboat that could.
very good
Turbo diesel!! I love it! But the Rip Saw is cooler.
Just the thing for Homeland Security. Give every farmer one of these with a 50mm machine gun. No more security problems.
u guys sure know how to have fun cool.
that looks fun can u post a list of materials used?
the broken driveshaft is a bummer, even think of a belt driven system? I would think it would be easier to replace than a drive shaft.
this tank track must have 2 clutches for turning left and right control
id trade that guy my new can am commander for that baby....
thats freakin awesome i want one
very cool i love it!!!!

Ok guys, im going to build this, whos with me? Serious im not joking, PM me if you wanna help out,
Did you ever get around to building it?
at 2:35 look at the suspension. Bobcats or any other skid steer for that matter if like has been said, does not have suspension. new or old.
I need plans for this I love it
how does the transmission work and how do you steer. and how do you switch from going forward to going backward?
dam just add a canon and its a tank
mount a chain gun on the front and armor plate it and you have a nice infantry support vehicle lol
not found any plans yet. i want them too.
omg the diesel turbo sound is like sex to my ears :P
schönes Sparßmobil, schaukelt einwenig ^^
where did u get the plans for this and how much did it cost to build
Hi there, I'm looking to build one of these but have a couple questions... First off; which wheel is being powered in this model? Second; what tranny did you use? Is it a hydraulic powered shaft to each side?

i take it that beast is turbo charged b/c i can hear good whistle in it
What the hell was that thing spinning at 3:12? Looked like a bgroken driveshaft.
no see the engine goes thorugh a box or sometin like that that has a propeller in it and it drives the other side without direct drive,[thats what i heard'] sometimes i hear that when you push a lever one side it engages that side in the diff, not exactly or not even close to a car
his hands are so close to the track is scary, from the back of his hand to the moving track is like 1 or 2 inches at most. watch 2:25
Yeah I'd have to have fenders.
freaking cool
that thing is a monster
I want to buy it, after the the shaft is fixed...lol
супер
Diesel power! Nice!
Now that's what I've been looking for....
oh and he could easily go to bio-deisel witch is going to be a very common thing in the future...thats what my cummins is going to be running on.
not with hydralics it doesn't. it goes through something called a swash plate which i heard your levers are hooked up to that chage the pressure speed and flow of the hydralics going to the motor.or your levers could be hooked up to valves i guess;]
sounds like a turbo diesel, and I think it only has one gear and seems geared low for torque rather than speed
that sounds sweet haha
Dude that this is awesome and unstoppable but watch your fckin hands!
by sound it has turbine. but I am interested where did he got caterpilars tracks from?
Is that built on a Skid steer chassis? And what kind of engine...sounds like a diesel?
