  • This video is way too short compared to the AMAIZING system that the Saltsjöbanan really is. The Saltsjöbanan has a storied history and a good future ahead of it. The system serves as the primary commuter rail connection to Stockholm for the people living in and around Nacka (atleast untill the metro extends there in a few years), Fisksätra, Saltsjöbaden and Solsidan. The line also offers neat connections to the Tvärbanan at Sickla and the red and green metro lines at Slussen (Although due to the massive construction at Slussen, the trains terminate at Henriksdall, one stop after Sickla.)
The trains are something that truly make this system unique. Originally starting their life as surplus stock for the Stockholm metro! When the city's transit operator needed new trains for the Saltsjöbanan, they took these units from the metro and refurbished them. The middle set of doors was taken out to add more capacity and the classic ''slip'' was added to make the trains wider to fit the platforms. You can see these ''slips'' (I don't know what else to call them) in the videos taken at Sickla stop at the beginning of the video. With all the history and the wonderful trains, the Saltsjöbanan truly makes for an awesome rail system witch I want to film more in the futute!
I hope you enjoyed this quick look into one of my favorite railways in the world! Thank you for watching and please consider subscribing to this channel!
