    Cruyff is arguably the best player ever, he is every bit as good as Maradona or Pele, Im a celtic fan so this was bitter sweet for me but you cant deny the mans class, amazing player.

    Thats just one match, look at his world cup 74 performances & countless others on youtube, he was great... if he played today he would be one of the two best players in the world along with Messi.

    Zidane and George Best were not even near at the level of his skill. And what's even more important - Cruyff had revolutionary vision of the game (total football) which actually confused and then even slaughtered the Italian style of defensive football at that time and started new renaissance of the game.

      Cruyff was a fantastic player, but like you say, his vision on the game sets him apart from the individuals. I am not sure personally who the greatest of all time is

    @YinHoNg You're kidding right? He is the best European footballer of all time top 4 of all time. He was an extremely intelligent player with awesome vision and great dribbling skills plus a very good athlete(just watch his great acceleration and speed with the ball). Zidane is the one who doesn't deserve to be in the echelon of Pele, Maradona Cruyff, Di Stefano, Beckenbauer, Platini. It's a shame that with every passing year people forget about the true legends of the game.

    @YinHoNg Just one game friend. You can't judge an entire career just on one game. Go document yourself about Cruyff. Zidane 's place in football history is overrated.

    The goal apart, I see nothing here that suggests Cruyff was in the same class as Best at this time, '69 - '71. Cruyff has a wonderful young team and the great Keizer around him, Best at this time had no such support, with Law, Charlton, Crerand all in decline, and Ian Moore, Fitzpatricks careers sadly cut short. Best's work was done in a vastly tougher league also. Celtic / Rangers and Ajax / Feyenoord deserve enormous credit for lifting their games at this time to the highest levels though.

      It wasn't Cruyff's best game obviously but every player has games were they're a bit off... he still managed a goal and an assist though so even on an off day he produces the goods.... there is loads of footage showing the greatness of Cruyff.

      seanreillyireland Cruijff was the most *_complete_* player from Europe. He controlled & outwitted his opponents from *_anywhere_* on the pitch. I've never seen *_any_* European player do that, including George Best, who i watched when he actually played.
      Cruijff was brilliantly ambidextrous. He had world class accuracy, with both feet.
      The one footed Maradona couldn't use his right foot for toffees!
      Best & Cruijff are the two most complete players I've seen from Europe, along with Beckenbauer.
      Here watch this match of the Dutch maestro at his imperial best: czcams.com/video/nrNclqQWs80/video.html
      Take note of the amount of tackles & interception's, he makes.
      Glorious lavish passes with *_both_* feet. ( something the one footed Maradona, could only dream off doing ).
      Buttery-smooth dribbles, including a brilliant slalom dribble goal after rounding three defenders.
      Instigating plays from central defensive & full back areas & midfield areas.
      And some nice goals assists, from one of his telegraphic passes.
      It's why I've always said. That Cruijff was Europe's answer, to the great Alfedo Di Stéfano.

    • @renekadijk6108
      @renekadijk6108 Před 10 lety +5

      This game is absolutely not average, because Cruijff never uses the easiest way to play the game. The direction of his actions is always forwards and that against a very defensive team. When he has the ball, there is always the just expectation that something special will happen. One good goal and a great assist on Keizer is way beyond average . Always and everywhere present at the pitch, playing as a majestic captain and director of his team.

    • @MrApacheRosePeacock
      @MrApacheRosePeacock Před 10 lety

      How everyone views the game will always be subjective but I agree maybe average was too far but I still don't think it was anything special but what he done like you say against a very defensive team was great and I've underrated it.

    The vision of total football came from Rinus Michels, his coach in Amsterdam. He just took it over as a Coach later. But most important: Franz Beckenbauer was by far the better player.

    Tavy@ cruyff is well overated and can use his left foot but its so obvous its his weaker foot. It took me at least a year to even know wich foot was george best's natural one, i just couldnt tell. I had to be told it was his right. But cruyff doesnt even come into best's class or pele, maradona, or the next top 7 at least. Ffs open your eyes hes overated. Trophys mean nothing. A simple example pele won loads more than maradona and george best but he isnt in there class!

Pythagoras in boots, because of the acute angle of his passes...Here: watch these mesmerising passes of Cruyff. They’re all time stamped, so they play exactly, his ball distributions.

      Lots featuring him using his left foot. The one footed Maradona couldn't make world class passes with his right foot. That's the reason he used rabona trick to cross the ball, when he got down the right flank, as it kept him on his left foot. Cruyff could go down either flank & use either of his feet to cross the ball

      @@johnpacino007 what do you mean , a lot more like some would be more accurate statement ? Most feature him with his right foot actually. That’s why you see him playing passes with the outside of his boots , which is players use when they can’t play with the other foot well enough . And I could easily show you clips of some of Maradona’s passes with his left foot that demonstrate point , but it’s honestly worth the time . Go ask anyone who watched before of them play and they will tell you that Maradona was the more creative minded footballer . And can show you plenty of times , where some of his passes went wayward . You showing me snippets of some of his best passes doesn’t necessarily prove your point . Just look at some of the passes he made in this game they weren’t that good .
