Hello Barbie. I recently found your channel. My husband passed away in June of 2021. I work two jobs and when I get home I am physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted. I have been watching you and it has motivated me to get up and try to clean. I never thought of using Easy Off Oven Cleaner on anything other than an oven. I have let my house go. After my husband passed away I was just on autopilot going back and forth from both jobs and home. I have been depressed since he passed away. I am going to be a grandma for the first time in May so I need to get my house clean. My daughter’s family has their own place but if the baby is going to come to my place to visit I need to clean up. Thank you for noticing me to clean.
One room at a time and if thats too much on a bad day then one shelf or drawer at a time. I lost my husband to cancer 9 months ago and as you say it is hard to get motivated but i have to for the grandkids. Keep trying the best you can

It's become so apparent that depression and mental illness have no regard for financial or social classes. Whether they live in a fancy new apartment, or an old decrepit one, there are so many around us with their "dirty" secrets due to depression and addiction. Thank you for doing what you do in raising awareness, but mostly giving a helping hand to so many who have decided they need a little help to make big changes. ❤ I miss your voice telling bits of their stories. When I first found your channel, I found it hard to understand you, and therefore it was not easy to relax while watching. But the more I watch you and others like Mack & Bonnie, the more I learn and appreciate the stories, which is much more important than relaxing. I hate that others have criticized you to the point that you don't want to do the voiceovers. If it's truly YOUR choice not to, then ok- I'm sure it is harder to add it in with editing. But your voice is valuable, and I want to be sure you know it is missed. ❤
Is that why she’s not doing voice-overs anymore? I never had a problem understanding her, and liked when she told their stories and her strategies and methods for cleaning along the way. Until I started seeing Mack’s and your videos, I had no idea this was a “thing,” meaning a symptom of mental illness. I did not know it even existed, this no throwing trash away. I’ve seen hoarding but this is so different. Thanks for opening my eyes.
What an amazingly thoughtful comment! My depression caused me to cut off all social interactions, cause I don’t want people seeing how I live. I’m not lazy… but most people will judge me as such rather than understand the issue and help. I have to keep my stress as low as possible, and once something, like cleaning, gets “on top of me” and becomes too overwhelming… it’s just too much to even think about it without going into complete anxiety. My last ptsd episode was so bad, I lost vision in one eye. So me sleeping on the couch rather than cleaning isn’t me being lazy. I’m literally trying to keep my body from destroying itself. Thanks for understanding. Wish more were like you.
Thank you for taking the extra time to separate the cans from the trash. Where I live there is a deposit return for recycling them and gosh, that would be a significant chunk of change.

I must say, Barbie, that despite the overwhelming amount of trash, especially the empty beer cans overflowing the living room, it's a relief there isn't a single roach🪳 rummaging the entire place. Not one. (At least you haven't encountered any spiders either😂) Even more beneficial is the apartment appears to be recently renovated, complete with new appliances and laminated floorings. I love the upgrading of the kitchen's decor while you are scrubbing away the hardened stains and impurities from top to bottom. I'd have fun cleaning the room myself if I had the chance. Not to be ungracious, Barbie, but I hope the occupant having health issues will maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the apartment after you worked SO HARD to make it livable again. I'm overwhelmed by the before and after pictures after you complete exfoliating the living room and kitchen, most especially. So many cleaning channels on here clean mold and other dangerous substances without gloves and/or respiratory protection and its so tough to watch! great work cleaning this up, it had to be so helpful to the person in recovery.

Wow… this was amazingly kind. I wish I had help from someone like you… while my place isn’t this bad, it’s definitely gotten on top of me in my current state. After the death of most of my family and the forest fires taking our timber farm, I ended up with pretty much everything my family owned just dumped into my house. My garage, the spare bedroom, and every open space in the house is just full of boxes. My depression was already pretty bad, but then I lost an eye during a ptsd episode, and since then… the task of cleaning all this has just become too big to even start. I wish more people realized this isn’t laziness. The physical damage depression and anxiety does to the body (like what happened to my eye) causes us to simply give up. When you stop caring about the mess, you can focus on minimizing the pain. Usually by sleeping :P Thanks for what you’re doing to help those like me ❤️

My depression was already pretty bad, but then I lost an eye during a ptsd episode, and since then… the task of cleaning all this has just become too big to even start. I wish more people realized this isn’t laziness. The physical damage depression and anxiety does to the body (like what happened to my eye) causes us to simply give up. When you stop caring about the mess, you can focus on minimizing the pain. Usually by sleeping :P
