  • Overlapping Conditions in Systemic Sclerosis- Tamiko Katsumoto, M.D. -- Scleroderma is a complex disease, and research has highlighted the significant heterogeneity of this condition. In many cases, Scleroderma patients may experience clinical features of other autoimmune diseases, and these patients are considered to have an "overlap syndrome". Some examples include inflammatory myositis, mixed connective tissue disease, Sjogren syndrome, inflammatory arthritis, and systemic lupus erythematosus, which will be addressed in this seminar.

Very helpful to anyone who wants to understand the testing and why it is being done. Anyone with overlapping issues should watch.

She did an excellent job with the presentation. Her content, pace, clarity, knowledge, and the length of the video were all terrific.

Thickening of the skin may indicate that the waste like calcium is not leaving the body. Scleroderma of the fingers seems to be 2 problems. Lack of circulation...and the bones worn away. When looking at photos of scleroderma of the fingers 1 will notice that the knuckle bones become pointed indicating a softening of the bones which r worn away from the swirling liquids which may be too acidic. Coke + extreme swirling? not blaming coke but ALL acidic products. Two separate problems. My fingers r falling off of my knuckles. My ana's r ceiling high. The body is not replacing what is needed to keep the skin soft. 2 separate issues but common in scleroderma which my grandma, mother & great aunt had with "tongue turning to stone"...it is a LACK of ? which has nothing to do with immunity
