    Yeah awesome tools. I work for this company in Finland were they think that if they don't buy tools then you can cut with your fingers and the machine times will be way lower.

      At least you can see the tool in operation, that's the shit part about catalogs you don't know if you are purchasing something really good or outright garbage and when it comes to machining consumables the price of trial and error can stack up incredibly fast.

    Thanks for the video. No machinist and not plans to be in the future, but very interesting from a engineering perspective. I am just wondering, does the heat of the ceremic change the quality or hardening of the steel ?

    Could you show us how that stream of hot chips eats into the tool holder? Is factoring in a new tool holder after so many hours a concern?

      I have 20 years cutting inconel. the last 10 using ceramics and what you do need to factor in is the damage those hot chips do. We have had major fires that have evacuated the whole shop. But also, those chips are like grinding dust. They work their way into the guards and cause damage. They also dull the windows until you can't see what's happening. You also have to factor in that each edge on the tips need changing all the time. We almost lost all the speed gains in the wasted time changing tips or tools.

      The ceramic melts at a much higher temperature therefore the cutting edge is maintained during cuts like as per the video.

      Ok , will you make a recommendation on what to use. We are cutting a sandwich of light pieces and using a 1/2 carbide with coolant. The pieces are about 11 feet long sticking out the side of the machine. Makes quite a mess. Thanks

    15 thousand plus RPM, but essentially a finishing cut as the initial roughing/hogging pass, Hah! Ceramics turning all traditional notions upsidedown. Coolant would ruin it.

      @@samuelyoung2671 there is high material removal due to the very high RPM which means a lighter cut per flute with each turn. Ceramic cutters run at very high temperature and it would break from thermal shock if coolant was used.

      @@samuelyoung2671 the reality is that coolant cannot instantaneously remove the heat at the interface where the cutting is actually taking place due to aggressive removal rate of material which is what this is, seemingly light cut but at very high speed.
