How to Propagate Monstera Albos the EASY WAY! | Monstera deliciosa 'Albo' Borsigiana Propagation

  • G'day, you mob! Today, I chop up my largest Monstera deliciosa 'Albo' Borsigiana plants and turn it from 1 plant into 7. The method of Albo propagation that I show you is the easiest way I've found to successfully propagate Monstera Albos every time. It allows you to have all your cuttings rooted via air-layering before you propagate your plant, so when you pot them up, you can hit the ground running!
    If you have trouble propagating your variegated Monsteras, hopefully this video helps! And if you have any tips or tricks for how to propagate Monstera deliciosa variegata in general, leave them in a comment below!

    G'day, guys! Hope you enjoyed the video! Tell me what you're propagating at the moment below! Also, one minor correction (which I can't believe I didn't catch whilst editing), when I say "apical bud", I mean "axiliary bud". The apical bud is the top of any growth point on your plant, whereas the axiliary buds are the points at which growth can come out (activate) along the sides of the stem.

    The plastic bag is such a good idea. I have not had much success with moss. Fluval has been good so I mixed some Fluval stratum and Tree fern fiber to see how it goes. I rotted a monstera I cut to propagate. Nice vid!

    I love your videos! I learn the most from your chats while you work with your plants! Could you explain how you cut and cut plants and don’t end up with mother plants that the left over nodes aren’t spent and will continue to put out growth. How do you keep tract and keep them going?

    50 Monstera sounds intimidating, but also glorious...
    Especially if they all had variegation like the more compact plant you've shown.
    Currently I'm only propagating a couple Syngonium... and I've found a recently sprouted pumpkin seed that I'd nearly forgotten about.🤣

      Coincidentally, I am propagating S. erythrophyllum 'Red Arrow'... when I got mine it had a longer vine that had dried up/died in the middle with a tiny leaf + node at the end, so I've chucked that bit into one of my aquariums. Also, propagating a "Red Heart" which is actually pink, and looks a lot like 'Neon'.

    I think the difference between those two albo's is, the first one is Borsigiana and the second one is Delisiosa, loking at the nodes.

  • @Crystal-be9ze
    @Crystal-be9ze Před 10 měsíci +1

    From what I understand the new growth point will always be on the opposite side of the aerial root so if you check all the node you can find one with white and cut there and it will go back to being as variegated if that makes sense, that’s exactly what I had to do with my albo bc it had only slightly variegated but a great main stem which was confusing me until I did research. The other thing I learned is you can melt down bees wax and cover your new cuts then there is zero chance of rot. Just curious have you ever air layered using soil?

    OMGosh, $1000?!! Heck that's expensive! I'm in NZ and not meaning to be rude but I bought mine , a Thai constellation and an albo for $185 and $125 respectively about 6 months ago with three leaves each. I thought I was paying abit much to be honest. My albo has got eight leaves and is about the same size as yours and my tc has 6 leaves and not quite as big. I use the weakly, weekly fertilizer method all year long for all my plants. Genuinely not meaning to be rude, just so curious to know why they cost so much. Thanks for the lesson on propping, much much appreciated. 😊

    I work at a famous green house part time and was sent home with a few cuttings of this and I’m like WHAT DO I DO?! I’m blessed to be able to have perks of getting these types of plants but I have always bought rooted and ready to go. This propagation stuff is stressful. I have them in a jar of water for now. I’m wondering if I should go the LECA or Fluval Stratum route. Hmmm.
