Great video about the Rival! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I prefer to carry handguns with a minimum of 4" barrel length, where a 4.5" is preferred, and a 5" barrel is my idea of serious protection and security purposes for self-defense.
I have carried the Canik METE SFT, the Walther PDP 5" full size, the CZ P10 F, and similar size handguns.
Very recently, I started carrying concealed the Canik SFx Rival Darkside without any problems. It can be done, I do it. I appreciate that you don't deny the fact that many of us prefer to carry large handguns and do so without issues.
Personally, I don't like subcompact guns (3.5"), least of all, micro guns (3").
So, to each their own. I don't carry seeking maximum comfort, but to maximize protection for self-defense purposes.

For the price, the Canik Rival offers a lot of gun with a lot of included parts. Double the price and it would still be a good gun. Put an optic on it and amaze your friends at the range. For home defense, it's very accurate, quick and has large magazines. Probably not a mailbox or go to the store gun for many but the right gun for anything from range, home defense or needing to hit something at 50 yards. I will stick with my LCP Max for times when I absolutely don't want anyone to see the gun, business meetings, etc. but this gun can do so much more.

The Canik Rival is a great out of the box competition gun.
But as for carry the trigger is a bit light for my taste.
This is why I traded mine for some with a heavier Trigger.
The size wasn't a issue for me. Especially if you have the
    right holster and clothing.
That said, great well built quality firearm, but it would not be
    my first choice for carry.

My Dark Side came with a 3.12 lb. trigger pull and personally wouldn't use it as a EDC, under stressfully situation or in a panic discharge the firearm unintentionally. To protect family and property? Yes, Canik did a great job on the trigger.

I would carry it as a Duty gun but not as a concealed. Too large too many serrations to get caught. Wouldn't trust the open top of the slide not to get fouled with God knows what. If you’re a skinny guy like me and want this gun but a smaller package the tp9 combat elite executive is the one. The rival is taller than my waist front to back. So i could never conceal a full size. The tp9 combat elite executive is perfect and has the same awesome trigger and a threaded barrel.
