      Overall enjoy your channel and content ... but your reaction to the otherwise funny "wife comment" made me cringe... I can't handle when people are over the top politically correct... I hear that's become the norm in England these days sadly... I mean if you spent any time in the audiophile world (I've been into it for 35 years)... you KNOW that 99.99% of Audiophiles are men... and women generally have zero interest in the topic, or your gear.. I was married 18 years, and since have had a dozen short and longer term relationships and not a single one of those women gave a rats ass about gear or format... they just wanted to listen to their MP3 player and call it good.

    Sound quality is so much better ripping your cds to flac files then playing them from a network music player, rather than streaming from Spotify

    The problem with Roon Radio is, that it only takes Tidal songs into account that you have added to your library. So Roon Radio in expectation to present you new songs from Tidal, you don't already know, will not work (at the moment).

    Separate comment: Would really like to have an in depth discussion of the differences between Tidal and Qobuz catalogs in the US (EU Qobuz is much deeper). I find Qobuz lacking a lot of electronic music, for example, which is why I have not ditched Tidal.

      @saturdayboy4454 Před 4 lety +1

      Miguel Barrio totally agree about not ditching Tidal, but just added Qobuz for $150 annual. Qobuz has massive holes in catalog, but what they have sounds better.

  • @calebkeen8967

    I really wish Allo Digital could have been named by name instead of the Sonore Microrendu in this presentation. Allo Digital have done so much work to get legit, audiophile-quality level streaming into anyone's home who wants it at an acceptable price point and Allo Digital are, to my eyes, very accountable. Darko Audio have told us that there is effectively almost no difference between the Allo Digital and Sonore solutions . Why does this presentation confuse that statement?

    • @calebkeen8967
      @calebkeen8967 Před 5 lety +1

      If there is a legit qualitative difference between the Alo DigiOne and Microrendu solutions as digital transports then please do qualify that (and quantify if possible).

    • @DarkoAudio
      @DarkoAudio Před 5 lety +1

      @@calebkeen8967 I don't carry around the DARKO DAC Index in my head. In the moment, under the pressure of chairing a seminar, I forget stuff. LOTS of stuff. You are right, the ALLO Digital solutions are terrific. Pretty sure I mentioned the Raspberry Pi as a streaming point in this seminar.

    • @DarkoAudio
      @DarkoAudio Před 5 lety +5

      Technically all streaming services are limited to licensing. I have Apple Music since I’m All-In with Apple’s ecosystem, and many albums in my collection have gone “grey”, which means the album is no longer available or it’s rights have gone to another country so it’s no longer available in the US.

FFS, fairly cheap electronics can decode and decrypt HDMI _video_ realtime including multiple full bandwidth audio without any problem, how hard can it be to get perfectly adequate [transparent] audio bandwidth stereo DACs?

    Streaming, in it's present state, will edge us closer to poorer and poorer music. If the corporate greed can be somehow be brought under control, then it can be a good thing. Anyone with any intelligence will not be interested in becoming a musician, trying to scratch out a living and live somewhat of a 'normal' life, even by musician standards. The 'shysters' have been engrained in this industry and all but controlled it for many decades. Deceit and theft ... a common theme I'm afraid.

    1. TIDAL HiFi relies on FLAC which is Not uncompressed. Yes, Its lossless but its Not uncompressed.
    2. In terms of hearing and the human brain. Digital is Not better than Analog and visa versa. Audio is Audio.
    3. Streaming audio can affect its quality. Even when the audio being streamed is Hifi i.e. Tidal. Its the nature of the beast. No way around that.
    4. Audio was made digital for storage and ease of access and latter copyrighting. NOT to improve quality.
    5. If you use Tidal via an iphone, Windows computer, etc... you are wasting your money. The audio chips/software in them all resample/convert audio. That's the whole reason music players like bitperfect exist, too get around all that. You can't use that with Tidal though.

    11:58 what you are saying makes absolutely no sense: it's 1s and 0s, there's nothing to do with noise, nothing to do with interference.
    If it's 1-1-1-1 it works, if it's 1-1-1-0 it doesn't, the system has an hiccup, or stops playing for a moment, or whatever.
    If you think there are differences, measure the bits of 2 streams from 2 different streaming boxes: i garantee they will be the same.
    Stop hiding behind "i'm not an engineer...i'm stating experience", if something it's true you can measure it, if not it's a placebo effect.
