    A diesel is perfect for young car enthusiasts. Especially here in Norway where gas and horsepower and fuel consumption is crazy expensive.
    They are cheap to drive and offers good performance especially if you tune them. Which is much easier since essentially all diesels are turbo.

      I can say the same about my country, but here it is even more special, because there’s a taxation gap at 250 horsepower: you pay around 250$ a year of taxes for a 249 hp car, whereas for 251 hp you need to pay around 1000$
      So here are plenty of 3.0 249 hp diesels, which is a massive bargain: they are really quick, especially if on stage 1-2, they are almost sniffing the fuel, and they are tax-friendly

    OMG!
    I always wanted to comment on your videos or posts to do a video for us "diesel power" guys. Honestly, all my life me and my family have owned diesel cars. First it was Citroen Xantia 1.9 Turbo D (CAR WITH BEST MOST COMFORTABLE RIDE EVER TO EXIST) and now I own Merc. B200 CDI (w245) which is also a great car.
    I live in Macedonia south-east Europe and here we have a lot of second hand imports from EU and 90% of those cars are diesels (engines last much longer especially those which are chain driven)
    Great videos Stype I love your channel!

    • @TopCarsTV
      @TopCarsTV  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks man.
      Is the amount of old imported diesels also the reason why Skopje is one of the most polluted cities in the world?

    • @Gasmaska69
      @Gasmaska69 Před 3 lety

      @@TopCarsTV Maybe by a small percent. Poor (by this I mean NO) politics and legislative only on paper regarding big pollutants, factories here as in other Balcan countries using legally imported garbage as fuel (where do you think that all the textile that isn't sold in EU goes? Shredded and mixed with other stuff goes into furnaces)
      Also, regarding diesel cars, many owners are tricked into removing DPF filters and cats because they believe that the engine will "breathe" better, or they just remove them to sell them to catalyst buyers who melt them or whatever to extract the platinum.
      Low standard as well as not being interested for general health leads many families to still use raw coal as heating fuel in winter months.
      But allowance of importing cars with no emission standard in late 2000 coincides with the pollution in the city. I remember 10-15 years there would be smog but only for a few days in December. Climate changed also, we get more and more "dry" days during winter, high air pressure lasting for days even weeks.

    Quick comment, I’ve also had an A2 diesel, the 90 hp version. The body panels are polymer for the most part…after a front shunt they stuck the thermoplastic bits in an oven (autoclave) and it was no different to when I bought it.
    Furthermore, VAG sold more A2’s than SAAB sold 900’s of the same generation. It was a development project for space frame vehicles but “more or less” broke even on its total cost

    Without the Diesels in the MK I Golf, the engine may have been found only in taxicabs until today...especially the Turbodiesel, though being significantly more expensive than the comparative petrol version put the self igniter on the map for a broader public.
    Besides, the engine derived from the EA827 was the first being a "high rev diesel" and being compact and lightweight enough to be installed in compact cars. Though still featuring many "traits" of the Diesel like noise and harshness it proved to be a reliable engine after the first teething problems were ironed out.

    0:48 That Cummins B series 5.9L is still widely used in India in the 6 cylinder buses and trucks made by Tata, their bus and truck chassis as well as built vehicles available with different power ratings ranging from 120hp to 230hp.
    Tata even made a rear engine low floor city bus with Marcopolo to compete with Volvo's B7RLE and a rear engine coach with Hispano called the Hispano Divo equipped with the 230hp engine which was almost as comfortable as the quite more expensive Volvo's B7R with the 270hp engine but still no one ready to pay the premium ticket prices for Tata over Volvo. So the Hispano failed but the Marcopolo was quite successful.

    I drive a G20 320d xDrive
    With a stage 2 tune it gives 243hp 555nm and goes 0-60 in about 6 seconds. Not much for a bimmer, but it still is a perfect daily car since a full tank of diesel (60Liters) lasts for more than 700km (around 8L/100km) in a “city mode”

      For the bimmers, i would have put the first 335d, sometimes nicknamed the M3d in the remapping community (the E46 330Cd was also a beast when remapped, but the E91/92/93 was 340-350hp with a simple remap, it was insane at the time)
