Very interesting restaurant owner, his wife comes from Vladimir, so they moved to Russia. Good successful business . Thanks Sam for sharing the interview. God bless you all.
Uh.. did Putin not announce a tax rise for small businesses a short while ago? Bad moment to start, I'd say. Well, good luck.
@@andreasmartin7942 The income tax will be increased from 20% to 25%. For some businesses, the tax burden will increase. Small businesses will mostly pay taxes at the same rates as they do now. At the same time, the government is introducing tax incentives for innovative businesses and companies from manufacturing industries.
For the development of small and medium-sized businesses, the use of a simplified taxation system is expanding, when a company or individual entrepreneur pays only one tax. It is proposed to increase the threshold for applying the STS for income to 450 million rubles per year instead of the current limit of 251.4 million rubles.
The advantage of having a Russian partner! Not easy for the rest of us to move.Seems too complicated.🥲👌
Часто бываю в ресторане Полли. очень хороший ресторан и добрый хозяин ресторана.
I admire brave entrepreneurs like him! Well done!🎉
Lets not forget that he was running a restaurant during COVID times, in Europe and USA this was a devastating time for hospitality industry and many such places went out of business. I'm sure it wasn't an easy time for him either, but he is obviously still doing quite well
I checked out the restaurant on Yandex, over 700 reviews with 5.0 star, this is very impressive!
Do a food review at his restaurant
As usual, very interesting video!! 👏👏
Glad you enjoyed it!
We love Irish. Their fight against British colonial oppression is admirable.
He is from the Republic of Ireland
that fight is not over yet.

Great to see a fellow 🇮🇪 doing so well in Russia 👏 Though it doesn't surprise me. The 🇮🇪 are all over the 🌎. Wherever I've been throughout the 🌎, i always bump into fellow Irish people.

Great video Sam, from Australia
I did not know :))) Learned sometrhing again!!!! Spasibo!!! I have been there a few times!!! I love the people that come here, they are all kind!
Very interesting
No Russian but his wife was Russian, so he had an excellent translator.
Not many people know this (even in Russia), but city Vladimir used to be Russian capital (for a short period of time very long time ago)

Great job, Sam! You are a good man!🙏🏻
Thanks. Glad you liked it

Well done Sam, Paul was done to earth. very interesting
Interesting story! Sam, thanks for interviewing your friend ❤
Paulie, greetings from Dublin !!!!!
Great interview ! And yes more videos like this would be great .
More to come! I may do a part two with him too
Hi Sam, the video was good. It is good that you are moving around with different styles of video, not just the same type. I am ready for Broad videos when the weather breaks. You should drive with someone who is experienced with their Lada. All cars have some weak point and I like to hear stories. I am a former mechanic, so I know about bad designs. Let's face it, anyone can drive a Porche. And I already know their problems! Thanks for the video. 😸
I personally would love to see more videos of interviews with other expats like this, and get their take on the joys and hardships as well. Great job on this one.
That's awesome ❤ yes more videos like that!!!
Very interesting story Sam! I am really happy he could realise his dreams in this country! Thank you very much 💕🪻⚘️🌷
Amazing story
A very nice interview ❤ Honest and open and normal and natural!
Keep it up!
Best wishes of health and Happiness
Thank you! I hope we will have a part 2! We have lots more to speak about!
Thank you, Sam! That's good to hear when he says about the things as it is
Excellent insight Sam, Paul seems like he is loving it, well chilled.
You can tell that he was uncomfortable with that interview. Definitely didn't want to be on camera 😅
I was in that restaurant last summer and met Paul. He's certainly much more relaxed and open off camera. I live in Togliatti where there are a number of decent restaurants but it would be nice to have a Полли too.
That's not true. Most of us just aren't good on camera, that's ok. Please don't make assumptions or jump to conclusions easily.
@thedappercook Kept fidgeting, was looking everywhere but the camera or Sam. He also had his hand in his trousers. No assumptions made. 100% felt uncomfortable
@@BritishChef436 oh he was uncomfortable but only about being on camera. Great interview and appeared to enjoy himself none the less.
@@thedappercook 100% agree with you. Was a great video
Thanks Sam. I would love to live in Russia. I may be too old 😢
I wonder whose Jaguar it is in the parking lot. 🤔🤔

Good interview Sam!
Good for you! You are so lucky to be there!
Thanks for this Sam!
Very good to see Paul and his business!
Does he have branches in Moscow ? Or is it only in Vladimir ?
good content!

Perfect ❤
The interview was a bit short. Even the guy himself got surprised. But it was good 👍
He allowed me a ten minute interview!!!!
Interesting!
Glad you think so!
Thx and keep doing these videos.
Yep loved it. All very useful info

very good questions Sam thanks....

It's good that there is a way to start new life 😊 thanks to you for all information peace to all
Glad you found it interesting
Sam ....thanks for talking about John Kopiski....I saw a lot of videos about him also one meeting with Putin " the greatest"😊
Great upload Sam.
Opening a restaurant in Vladimir, not even Moscow is a tough call! Good luck and all the best !
Great Video. Can't Believe he ate the orange with the rind.
congrats on the 50k...
These interviews with foreigners are very interesting, Sam!
very good video !!!
Отличное видео!
Спасибо 🙏
With a Russian wife that’s doable without being partly Russian or having a Russian wife it’s a different beast I imagine. Actually looks pretty neat his place.
So on spot, not having help must be so difficult 😢for us,Great video

Он не выглядит счастливым, это ирландская особенность ?
I think it's the camera, not all people are comfortable in front of a Camera, Maybe.
I thought the same lol! 😅
Thr Irish are normally very upbeat and happy. Paulie is quite atypical. He seems a bit depressed. Just sayin . .btw- no drink for Sam?
Он всегда такой. У него тяжелый характер
Ирландцы не любят англичан.
This was a very interesting video. Yes, I would like to see more interviews of expatriates who moved to Russia to set up businesses. I'm looking forward to your next video.
Sounds good! Thanks for your feedback
I'm 73. Do you think it would be too old to move to Russia?
I think I saw a video from Russian Code about Paul before, I might be wrong...
Anyway, it's great to see a successful Irish business man flourishing in Vladimir.
Would love to hear more stories from ex Pat's living in Russia in the future. You're a great interviewer Sam.
A good video well worth watching.
This was a great video. This content was very informative and inspiring. I am certain that that so many people will be able to think about opportunities that are available. Thanks again for for creating a great video.
Thanks. Could you make once a video of what he is cooking?
Same in Greece and other countries to become a resident. He does well with restaurant.
i came across so many irish folks great people, ans sick sense of humor

Sam, this was fantastic! You need to have a meal there and show us a bunch of his Delicious food
I have very much enjoyed this interview! I must say you are talented for interviews! RT should recruit you!! I dig your shorts 😝
Wow, thank you! I could do with an RT paycheck!!!
Considering how hilariously bad some of the RT field reporters are even I agree that Sam is a lot better.
I am gonna visit that restaurant
I like this kind of videos! Keep it up!
Great job! Even though it was a spontaneous last minute interview.
Everything will fall into place Sam. No worries!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks 🙏
Sam absolutely loving all this new content. Youre on a role! Hey when is your website going to be live?
John Kopisky is the Englishman who asked Putin some questions in a townhall event I think.
No I’m not!!!!
@@SamsRussianAdventures I meant John Kopisky. You mentioned him in this video.
Good job, more interviews with expats, please...
Ok! 👌
Well that video was a real piece of work, I'm not sure if the Chef was more uncomfortable than the viewers but it was definitely memorable, haha 👍
He’s always like that
Spontaneous interviews are the most genuine, however for some reason Pouilly Had a hard time giving us detail advice. On the same time being in love with the woman you love just pulls you through difficult times in life and makes you see the beauty in everything.
I’ll try and do a part two with him
I think his wife is the manager. Pauly is just his name.
Hey Sambo i think Polly is a reluctant guest. Perhaps your dressware is making him a little nervous! I,m Glad your from Englandshire a Jockanese would have worn troousers.
He has a difficult character!
I have been hoping you would interview him.
Paul, a typical low profile Irishman 😅. Keep the head down and work hard / play hard 👏
If only I knew about his eatery when I was in Vladimir. You guys bought your English weather with you.
Paulie isn't English or British. Try watching the video before commenting.
Конечно!
sam hey!!!!my hair sticking out the same like you😆😆😆👍👍👍
Paul doesn't like to waste his breath and means what he says, does he? 😂 As for your question, Sam, I'm sure others and I would love to see more of this kind of content 👍
He has a difficult character but makes good food!
Yes, please more like this, but also cover the things that are hard for Westerners to adapt to.
You are fair and great sam! Asking good questions. All the best from sweden
I've waited for this video for so long! I'm half English 🇬🇧 half Irish 🇨🇮 and live in Russia 🇷🇺 for 7 years. and also am a chef 🧑🍳 (idk why I'm using so many emojis, I just felt like it)
So this video relates to me a lot lol. I'd like to work for this guy. If he's reading this, maybe hit me up. 99% of people who come to Russia are either programmers or English teachers or pensioners and it's good to finally see someone who "made it" doing something else. I've been thinking about opening my own little restaurant, I can make banging curries, paellas, and all kinds of cuisines from all over the world, and desserts like banoffee pie, key lime pie etc. And none of those things really exist in russia so I've been wanting to open a place where people can come and try these "exotic"things. But I doubt it would be successful, I mean russian people can't stand spicy food, they can't even stand black pepper or paprika and consider those to be too spicy. They just like plain old meat, potato, and mayonnaise pretty much. And many ingredients for my "exotic" menu idea are either not avaliable at all or really hard to come by here. So my other option is to just specialise in desserts (which I'm also really good at) but desserts aren't really even a thing here. And they already have good cakes and pastries. So I don't even know really. Also people rarely even eat out here, they don't have nearly as much disposable income as in uk or ireland. But maybe all these thoughts are just me doubting myself and making up excuses. I don't live near Moscow atm so people here have a lot less money than they do over there. I mean I can always move. I'm just living where my wife and her family are at. But for now the best option for me to make money is to just go back to the uk and work a few months at a restaurant there and then I can live really well here and support my family with that money for like 2 years, and then repeating that process. But ideally I'd like to find a way to make money in russia. Cause it kinda sucks having to keep leaving. I've tried working at a few different restaurants and factories here but they pay you only 1k rubles for a 16 hour shift. And that's just not good at all. I'm thinking of going back to the uk forever and taking my family with me there. Because at least you can always guaranteed make decent money there and in russia I think it's a lot harder. But of course before I do that I'd like to stay here a while longer and try other things before I move back. Well this Paul lad has shown that it's possible to make it. I probably just have to go to a better city and be more ambitious. Because I definitely like it here more than in the uk. There are a lot more problems over there. And I'm not even sure that they have the "guaranteed financial stability even on minimum wage" what I was talking about. I guess nothing in life comes easily and it's a problem with me and not really the country. Idk man. I'm tired and writing this at 5am lol
Which city do you live now where paid so little?🤔
What is the CI for ??

Hi, Sam. Polli looks fancy. Not your typical Irish pub like we have here. Also, I noticed in Europe over the past decade or so that a lot of Ethiopian, Georgian, Vietnamese and Mexican restaurants have opened. Without searching, I am guessing these cuisines have diffused to Vladimir and/or Moscow, as well.
Hi Sam. Very interesting, although, interviews with 'business people' from foreigh country, would be interesting to know more about how easy or difficult it was for starting their business. Also having a set of questions already prepared, short and written would help you get the best info from people you interview. Would heip you being 'short and sweet'... (I come from 'this' profession...)
Great choice, Russia is a safe, prosperous country. Z 🇷🇺
With this 'Z', Russians borrow from Germany (1939-45), you would definitely be safe in modern Russia - until the moment you or your business becomes a subject of interest for the authorities. Not because you're not in line with the laws... that's when the real Z-fun starts in Russia for foreign nationals.

@@crazyivan2356 are you talking abt this based on your own experience? 🤔
@@crazyivan2356 I wouldn't become a subject of interest trust me, I'm more scared of being locked up in america over bs than I am in Russia
@@Howardlifts Oh, I see. Do you genuinely believe that the Russian justice system is somehow equal to the one in the USA? Let me share with you a very old Russian police joke: 'A human in handcuffs is not considered a human anymore!' Once you're detained in Russia, things take a sharp turn from the start. When I say 'rough,' I mean it's beyond your imagination. Don't rely on surveillance cameras inside the police station; once things go south, serious malfunctions occur with all the cameras around. Lawyer or a phone call? Forget it. But you might expect a bottle of champagne... Russian police love to use it during interrogation. Unforgettable experience. And good luck filing a complaint to their supervisor)))

Noticed that many people coming from the UK have tattoos. Sam doesn't.
I actually have a couple))
Tattoo of a Mickey Mouse. I know such a guy from the Isle of Wight. He's a sailor. Popeye the sailor man.
I don’t understand how tattoos corresponds with ”traditional values”. Don’t you Russians prefer people without tattoos being in accordance with how society was 25 years ago? When I grew up only criminals and sailors got tattoos.

The owner of the restaurant could offer the guest a glass of water or a cup of tea. It would be our way, humanly.
I shot a lot of stories about Russian restaurateurs, and in 9 cases out of ten they always treated us to something, although we refused.
