Indeed. Churches ignore the temple, they ignore David's Mighty Men, they ignore that the disciples "talked roughly" aka cussed like the sailors that they were. Churches preach about smoking, drinking, cussing, and porn as being "evils" while ignoring the 10 Commandments. The preachers in many of the churches today aren't preaching from the Bible. They preach about gaining wealth, drinking, smoking etc and the "flock" leaves knowing even less about the Bible than they did when they walked in.

I would definitely reaffirm your ideology as it's culling through division on any level. Your love you found is your experience through the worst and the best. With out duality we cannot experience anything.
You have to be careful what you classify as love, because unconditional love means the answer to everything is yes.
Meditate on that. So if you want be a criminal the answer is yes, if you want to be a cop the answer is yes, you want to be a drug addict the answer is yes, and on and on. Freedom is the ultimate reasonability, which we're currently finding out!
This is merely a playground for souls. The level of consciousness on the planet is low so we cannot merely suggest that one belief is superior to another's it just is. When you have a a little kid reviewing toys on youtube making millions it tells you how bad the consciousness level is. Support your local ranchers and farmers! Vote with your dollar! I have spent my whole life studying and searching for many things including what is GOD! I have studied all religions and mystics and not just reading but searching and experiencing.
      Lastly...
People are not even aware that the food is toxic, water, and religion. That's why our health is at a all time low. Cancer is sky high, diabetes, gut issues from glyphosate sprayed on the food, mental illness linked directly to the gut, division, confusion, and on and on! What they're doing in America is lowering the testosterone in men, making everyone confused and sick, their pushing veganism which is what peasants have eaten forever, attacking masculinity and the nucleus family, doing away with police, profiteering off a plandemic, we don't have a government it's a cooperate headquarters! It's all right in front of us!
If we don't stand up as men and tow the line we will lose this country to Marxist psychopaths!
Good thing is in the times of chaos brings the best chance for change without a doubt!
Much love to ya buddy thanks for services!!!

I struggled with Mike’s question for many years. I reconciled it this way…We have children knowing they will suffer . They will have pain, they will have loss, they will do wrong. We still have children because we know they also will have success, love, and triumphs. I think that is God’s dilemma. Life is both. To give us the good the bad has to come with it. He loves us enough that he wants us to have life despite the pain. But he promises to be there with us through that pain. I don’t have all the answers. But this is my answer.

We live in a fallen state. When Adam and Eve failed they gave life to death. In this world we will have problems because of this fallen state. It is through Jesus we are reconciled back to God. The problems if this world is not Gods blame but ours, our desires to sin based on our fallen nature. Your a smart man Mr Ritland and I hope God reaches you where you are bro.

    • @RonniePTexan
      @RonniePTexan Před 2 lety +2

I would respectfully add the perspective of time. Just like a parent that disciplines a child, or the child falls off of their bike and scrapes their knee, it is a temporary pain to gain a lifetime of knowledge. In God's eyes, 10 years of pain is still worth it because that person can gain a billion plus years of perfect life. A child that dies of cancer has a year or two of pain, then has a billion plus years of perfect life. Without the perspective of time, many questions such as Mike's in the podcast, are focusing on the temporary bad, and ignoring the everlasting good that easily outweighs any bad.

Just wanted to add this comment on the off chance that you might see it Mike, since you liked one reply on this thread. I mentioned it on another comment but decided to put it here as well just in case. Full disclosure, I am a Christian also non-practicing in the church but I still feel close to God. The part of the podcast where you were questioning God's decision to give complete free will to mankind and you mentioned you would probably dial it back due to the heinous things that happened worldwide and even here in our country is what I would like to address (also happen to question the same exact dichotomy). In my opinion, and this is just my opinion on the matter, you would never know the love you feel for a child either watching them being born or the pride and love you feel while that child is growing and succeeding. I don't know your personal life, but I did happen to meet my soulmate. I was lucky I know, but it is a different type of love but no less powerful though still different. I happen to have the best dog I've ever had in my life att and I was raised with hunting dogs, this dog is not a hunting dog he is a mutt but he is the best dog I've ever had in my life and I love him almost like a child (I have put the time and effort to train him as a family dog). I different type of love, but love no less. I don't think we would be able to feel all these types of loves in our life if we did not have the capability to be the antithesis of love. If we could not destroy we could not create. If we could not hate we could not love. If we could not kill we could not create. Sorry for the long diatribe but it was just something I wanted to share. I don't know if it makes sense to you or anyone else reading but that is my take on that small part of the podcast.

I myself am a Christian, and I have always questioned the suffering and pain aspect of this world and why God allows it. I will say this though: the best thing I ever read and heard on it was this; We may not ever know why God allows all the suffering and stuff that He does, but we cannot deny that He sent Jesus Christ down who suffered it with us (homelessness, hardworking man, hated, crucified, murdered, rejected by His own, etc). Obviously I know you would have to accept Jesus Christ and God in the first place, but that is an answer. He may not lead us into the best place, but at least He suffered it with us. (Again, not trying to say I am right or anything, just something to think about).

@@MakerInMotion I agree. All cards on the table though, I am a Christian. The only thing I would like to add is about the part of the podcast when Mike says he can't square all the evil in the world because of God giving free will, and that he wood dial it back if he could. My opinion on that, and this is just my opinion, is that if you did not have that complete free will to do the most heinous things to a human being as he describes you would not have the capacity to know the love of/for your soulmate. You would never know the different type of love that you have for your children. These completely different but no less powerful loves I think you would never know if you did not have the choice to act in the complete antithesis of that feeling. If that makes any kind of sense.

I can see your point. I agree with Kyle; this type of discussion is a huge and lengthy one that does not happen in a day. However, I would say that, Biblically, it does seem to indicate that there are different levels of Hell. Two, I’ve also heard the argument that people will be judged based on how they responded to whatever God sent them, as in, a missionary or even one page of Scripture, etc. One thing I will say, and this goes for ANYBODY, Christian or no, is that life is grey. It’s not as simple as the story you just said or even what I said. Like we can argue back and forth ALL DAY about Scripture, but you can NEVER tell me I haven’t experienced what I have experienced, nor can I tell you. That, in my opinion, is where the Holy Spirit works in people. The rest is up to them. But, respectfully, I can understand your comment.

Much like many comments here, I really like seeing a quality conversation. As a believer, I look at it like this. No one can physically prove God is real, but. If I live my whole life believing in God and when I die God isn't, it costed me nothing other than trying to be a good person. Conversely, if I don't believe in God and do whatever I want and when I die, God was real and I intentionally ignored it, then it will cost me everything for eternity.

On the topic of “if God exists then why is the world so messed up”…
The way it was explained to me is- you can’t have good without evil, and you can’t have love without hatred. And within the concept of love is the power to choose and make your own decisions because if you really love someone, that doesn’t mean you’re forcing them to do something they don’t want to do. You love them no matter what, for who they are, despite all the mistakes they make. If as a human that’s how we define love, then Gods love for the people he created is infinitely times more than that.

I agree with Mike on most of his takes but this one where he took the Stephen Fry approach solidified my appreciation for his outlook.
He literally put a lot of my agnostic thoughts into words I never thought I’d hear so eloquently put.
(Long story short I believe in everything, all at once, all at the same time. We just don’t have the science to observe it all yet. Whatever drives molecular motion would be the “controller”. We’ll know when we invest in the science to understand it.)
Although hearing Mike have these in depth conversations really makes you understand what they mean when former guys say the teams are made of all walks of life. You’d think they’re all loaded with knowledge purely regarding “operational pursuits” but in reality the stereotype couldn’t be further from the truth.

Late to the party. Watching this interview with my wife right now. I was walking in your shoes 2 years ago. Policing and life in general had crushed me. The evil that men do, can’t be explained, it’s always been there always will be. Love actually saved me. You can’t see it, can’t hold it or touch it. But it’s real, you feel it when it’s real it consumes and comforts and brings hope. That feeling of love is God. Love you give and love you receive is God in you. Actually a verse in the Bible, God is love. You’re a Dog guy, I have Shepherds myself always have. Why do they love you like they do, it ain’t the food you give the ball you throw or the praise you give, dude it’s God. Matter of fact Dog is just God spelled backwards. I will be praying for you, I hope you find what I found, Jesus Christ is the answer. I haven’t seen him or touched him but he sees me and his words guide my actions. I can tell you beyond a shadow of doubt I’m a better man to myself and everyone around me and look at the world through new eyes. Praying you find faith.

This is one of the best podcasts I've heard in awhile and I agree with Mike's views (I worked in the horse business and training horses gives the same perspective as training dogs, theres always more to learn and dont pick at the little things), I tend to be exactly in the middle on everything but will always listen to others views, I'm in my early 30s and technically a millenial bit luckily I have a wonderful family and parents to instilled "think for yourself and listen to peoples stories and learn the life lesson", its been hard for me because I have alot of friends who I would put in the woke crowd and in the last year I've been struggling with whether I want to continue having them in my life as they have the view they're right everyone else is wrong with no discussion 😕

I think it was an unintentional incorrect statement on Kyle's part, but for the benefit of anyone who may have taken it as intentional and correct, it was not correct to say that God (the Father) created Jesus (the Son). Jesus is one of the three in the Trinity that God is, and He as the Son is as fully God as is God the Father. In fact, Jesus, Himself, is the Creator. He is the part or Person of God that created all things.
And by the way, not only did He walk the earth as a man, but He is still a man. God is a man.

I want to suggest taking a listen to both
    Bart Ehrman and C.S. Lewis’s work .
They talk about God and religion from different perspectives . One a theist to an atheist , and the other vice versa . Both I find to be of high integrity . It is very interesting and insightful to try and understand their journeys .
Listening to your channel , I find that you and me are of like mind on many subjects . Including this one …
I myself am very open minded on the subject of religion and a creator . I found that these two gentlemen helped me tremendously on my journey . Didn’t come to any conclusion 😁
    But I have a better understanding .
Hope it may help you as well .

At about an hour and 7 to 8 minutes in, the discussion is how people do bad things to one another and God allows it. I think there is something that is overlooked by so many, and I don't want to get into the whole {Why does a good God allow suffering:) debate, but have we ever stopped to think about how short life really is? We are here for a time and then our lives are eternal. This leads me to believe that God's view on life is WAY different than our views and thoughts on life. This thing we call life is a rehearsal for our real life.

Happy is the man who keeps on enduring trial, because on becoming approved, he will receive the crown of life, which Jehovah promised to those who continue loving him. When under trial, let no one say: "I am being tried by God." For with evil things God cannot be tried, nor does he himself try anyone. But each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin; in turn sin, when it has been carried out, brings forth death.

To mike about judgment since none of us are good enough in moral law. When we accept Jesus we are covered and forgiven. We are judged on his works. That’s why Jesus commands us to go tell others about his love! The gospel is good news!
Following Jesus helps us become better people. He transforms our Hearts and minds on the journey with him. Because he cares about relationship.

Men like Mike were sent to this earth to walk the line between good and evil. The protectors of the manger.....so to speak. What he and his friends have done was allowed the spiritual fight to continue. Of course, they would have these questions because they've had to continue to cross the line, do the work of evil men, and then remain inside of the goodness. He has just yet to realize how necessary, in this world, men like him are to Christians. He is like the angels watching Lucifer and his friends destroy the humanity god created. They have the power, and ability, to destroy that evil, and have yet to be let loosed. But, once it happens, men like Mike will then completely understand. He, and men like him, stand on the front line of all that is good. I am thankful and his questions are not those that we can answer if we have not ever stood on that line. When the time comes for him to lay down his sword....he will know. My two cents.
