How To Fix Front Wheels Pointing Different Directions Adjust Toe

  • My Camaro had a crooked steering wheel. Upon further inspection, I noticed that whenever the steering wheel was straight, the front passenger tire was straight, but the driver side tire was pointed to the left as if turning slightly. When your wheels are pointed different ways, you need to check your toe. If your tire rods are bent then just get new ones, as it is very difficult to adjust toe with a bent tie rod.

    You don't need to take the tie rod end loose. If you want to turn the wheels in loosen the Locking nut and turn the threaded rod in which will pull the tie rod in

      I tried that on this Jeep liberty and all it does is throw the steering wheel off doesn't affect the toe in or out.still pulls to the right even after cranking it the direction needed. steering wheel will be off if I turn it any other direction.

      I agree with you. I had the same problem. This video solved it.
      I caused my problem though. I didn’t strap the steering down and I also turned the passenger tie rod in too much. As a result, one wheel was straight and the other turned inward. No matter how many times I went under the car to readjust it I just couldn’t get it right until I came across this video. Not only did he help me straighten up the wheels, it also solved my alignment problem. Front and back measurements were exactly the same.

    You don't need to take the tie rod off to change toe. Only need to take the tie rod off to fix the boot or replace completely. Nice how to tho but can save ppl some work.

      If you hit something and immediately you’re wheels are pointing different directions, then most likely you bent something in the suspension

      If the car was not in an accident adjusting the tie rods like I show in this video could be a simple fix to get you by till you can get an alignment done

    I took my Lexus rx350 suv for alignment to the shop 5 different times because still pulled left and right they didnt charge me for the other time only 1 price. And they rotated my tires still pulls left and right. Could it be my tie rods?

    • @bluesxt
      @bluesxt  Před 3 lety +1

      If the car has been in an accident before sometimes its hard to say if it is a fixable problem. If no accidents then that shop is doing a terrible job lol. As a general rule of thumb, if the tires don't both point the same direction then it is an out of aligned tie rod / bent tie rod.

    was replacing a ball joint and accidentally turned the steering wheel with the joint disconnected and the cv axle out. DOH! messed up the driver side wheel. the passenger side wheel was still proper with the steering wheel. Is this the only way to correct it temporarily until I can make it to the alignment place?

    • @bluesxt
      @bluesxt  Před 2 lety

      Oh no haha been there before. Yes this method of adjusting the tie rod ends will get your toe back close enough so you can get to the alignment place. If the passenger side is still where it was and aligned with the steering wheel then only touch the driver side toe

    • @blazeaglory

      Just put the axle back in and make sure there's a clip to prevent it from accidentally coming out
