Slight correction, this 1/100 chance seems to affect the first 1400 coolers you open. Which, for all intents and purposes, is going to affect everyone for the near future, so most of this video is not inaccurate.

Thank you so much for making this video! I am the user who made the thread mentioned in the video and love that you're putting the spotlight on this issue. Slight update: The thread got deleted and Lava has made absolutely no comment about the issue.
This has happened several times in the past - controversial update gets pushed, several people post criticism about it online (both contructive criticism and toxicity), Lava responds antagonistically with full radio silence and banning/deleting any discord posts related to the issue. There was even a time where he had a full blown all-caps mental breakdown on the discord server because of criticism from a recent update (he wrote something along the lines of "F*** YOU ALL"), and proceeded to carpet bomb like an hours worth of posts in the general channel, presumably to remove any evidence of it.
It sucks that he isn't receptive to any criticism, it gives an impression that he doesn't take accountability for problems in the game or players affected by it. At worst it could become a legal liability for him if someone decides this is grounds for a lawsuit or his game getting banned in certain countries (I believe deceptive advertising around lootboxes is legislated against in the EU now)
I'm upset that golden stopwatches can't be used. Been saving up mine for next event. And lava says nope
wait really?? this was such a cool interaction last event when the boss battle shop rolled golden watches, you'd figure he'd at least warn ahead of time that that would be nerfed for future events :/

How many chance for a cooler dropped by a mob? What is the drama? Pls answer this 😢
if you have a lot of silverwatches, you can probably use them to get 3-4 extra days of event(if you have like 1000 of them you can get 11 extra days) just using them to low 15 minutes ultil the next day start in like an hour, is not as effective but still is doable
@@reaperangel4423 I'm only in world 4so there might be ways to basicly just summon in stop whaches... but thats 96 for one days worth.
@@RaidFiftyOne i just got to world 6 (by brute force), and yeh, is alot to get 1 day but hey, you can get 1 day at least if you use some that you gain in the event
550 cooler and only got 1 golden oyster in feel my daily gem farm was for nothing all the 300 boss killed each day for literaly nothing , was farming them for the pristine charm comb and used all those gem for the event and got nothing worth feels bad

I cannot agree more. Was actually about to buy gems because the permanent bonuses are quite tempting but then when I saw people who bought the coolers and getting almost no points from I didn't buy them anymore
I dont mind it being 1% chance, it sucks he didnt tell us correctly but i mean we should expect it frim lava at this point lol

It's not a hard lock, none of the upgrades are needed to get to endgame at all (although the stamp upgrade is very nice endgame). But I get what you mean, the FOMO is real.
Wow that’s pretty fucked up. I bought all those items and I essentially feel ripped off. No idea how he can fix this though since people already bought this stuff
I have literally one point. I spent hours active yesterday and didn't hit the 50 coolers for the day. I purchased 2 packs of coolers so far as well and not a single oyster.
How do y'all feel about this?
i dont know how is it possible to cook a 5star meal and then burn the house down at the same time pets, this event, not working mechanics in skills
Lava already laughed at f2p people but this one is just another level of evil cause they almost got no chance but to pray to get any point(I dont care if the next event wont have an event store and yet still gives event points. You gave people fomo)
Yeah I looked at the event and then looked at the shop and decided it's basically impossible to get all four buffs free to play.
I think this was just a miscommunication issue rather then anything else.
Maybe Lava thought the chance is 2% or has reasons to state the chance is 2% that were not considered in the "code scrap" that the authors made.
I think it also sucks he was not clear about the point system in the events.
Either way don't forget this is just a game. In a game you are usually not expected to clear all the content the second it releases. The event is not even over yet!
So I think there's no reason to be upset about the fact that is hard to obtain event points.

I feel this wouldn't be an issue as 1% is still fair... if he adressed it and made everyone aware that he either A. made a typo in the announcment or B. messed up the code
damn sucks for ppl who payed money for gems to open coolers (if lava confirms the code was wrong)
Love your videos, one thing I wish tho is that you increase your mic volume, I always have to max out my speakers for your videos
as a new player i understand why people are mad pretty much did this and made golden pocket useless but now people have a reason to save 999 boss trophy's! for the pink headwear now! but it also sucks i saved up a crap ton of them because i got told you can use them for events now you can only even get 1 upgrade from these events if your f2p tbh best choices are the bubble or stamp im leaning more towards the bubble upgrade
@@bladestorm7433 I’d recommend stamp over bubble. You’ll get a ton of ways to increase bubble levels, stamps not so much

@whiteblaze12345 it's >. 99, not >=. 99 : it means you need to do roll smth between. 99.0000001and 1.00000. And everything between 0 and .99000000 is bad. So it's 1% !

No, it generates a floating point number between 0 and 1 which is a number with tons of decimals and will likely look something like 0.9943634674 for a succesful roll so that isn't the case here. For the same reason it being < or

But writing with my Phone that correct everything in french is taking me too much time haha
So forget the first part of my commentary wich is correct for integer. In our case > or >= just icrease the chance if it round somewhere, if not it change something very small

I think the main issue, which you didn’t quite state outright, is: if you spent money based on his statement that the drop rate is 2%, you only got half of what you paid for.
If the discord users are misreading the code, Lava could easily clarify where else in the code the >99 is boosted from. If they’re not misreading, then Lava could easily apologise and say that he meant for it to be >= (and compensate people who were misled).

its a pattern at this point, so derriving from past experience i have to assume the situation as is was explicitly intended to be as is by lava.
and when this goes as the past events as well, any upbringing will be deleted and the users bringing it up will be banned or perma-muted from the discord.
@@muffimonkey5065 I don't think this was maliciously planned by Lava to scam people - more likely an honest coding/math mistake - but it's still a really bad look for him/his mods to delete posts about it. Something should be done to fix the problem instead of sweeping it under the rug.
While I’m glad he brought back events, and I got enough cards to get to 3 Star finally, AND getting stupidly lucky on the dungeon pack to get the last 3 Star card I needed for dungeons, I just want W7 to drop. I’m at current endgame content and just pissing away time with Sneaking for the last dream cloud. 2 hats left yo. Or I could keep working on the farming and summoning upgrades so I can theoretically max out my books higher than 299. But like, games dead and waiting a week for a door roll is boring as fuck.

Gotta be honest, I bought less shop items than you and I was done with the event within 20 minutes of the even starting... I wonder if this 1%/2% issue was just a typo or misunderstanding of the written code (maybe < should be
Also, I want to say I feel like the drop rates for the coolers seems even lower than in past events. Been active farming for over 50 minutes now at Citrines and only have 35 / 50 coolers. Not DIRECTLY related to the video, but it seems like Lava is making a problem and selling us the solution in the gem shop (which is wrong there too)
I use Bubo and they drop very quickly.
As someone who cheat the game, it is 1% drop rate

I opened two gloden and only have candies, no event point at all

I had 400 coolers left over from prior events and got 3 oysters so old ones didn't go so good
.99 and 1 are 2 numbers making it 2%
@@chrispicard2167 unfortunately that’s not how the function works. It’s a float number not a strict integer that’s being picked. The best explanation I can give is from the coders that brought this issue up in the first place: “Except its not a 100 sided die, its a 100 million sided die. and only is successful on rolls between 99 million and 100 million, which is 1% of rolls”
While i agree with it, and it should have not been announced like this, i feel like most people would have still bought the stuff even if it was 1%.
i got 2 golden oyster in 300 (1 in 150 on 2 accounts)
on my main account i also only got 3 points in 5 golden oyster i bought
I bought like 6 packs got about 4 event points but i had to buy the golden oyster to get the points

He has not issued a correction, nor has he said any mistake was made. He stuck by the assertion it was a 2% chance per cooler, which is incorrect.
If you roll a .99 or 1.00 you get it. Wouldn't that be 2÷. Similar to 99 vials can roll a 99 or 100 to unlock.

Random numbers in programming don't work that way. It's not a discrete set of possibilities. It's any decimal number between 0 and 1 (usually not including 1). So the number will be something like .452158548 or .856545485. Basically an infinite number of possibilities between 0-1. And he is checking for weather or not it is higher than .99.
@@CapnCoCo1 Yeah, while the range is 1% the actual chance of getting a single oyster in 50 coolers is p(a)=1-(1-0.01)^50 or about 39% and for a 99% chance to get a golden oyster you have to open 458 coolers... the 50% chance is at 69 coolers...
No because the code is rolling the odds using a random float, which can generate any decimal between 1 and 0. The odds of rolling between 0.99 and 1.00 are basically 1%. The chance of it rolling exactly 1.00 is next to impossible depending on how the random number algorithm works and rounding up very small decimals. If Lava wants it to work this way (rolling either a 99 or a 100) he needs to use a random integer that lands on discrete values like dice.

i give you some friendly tips:
Get a cam that runs above 30 fps
and now your audio. Please get your microphone closer to you, off the table away from your mouse and keybord.
i asume you use a "Polar pattern" microphone so an easy fix is, point the back of your mic to your mouse/keybord.

For the time being, I've done a bandaid fix utilizing Nvidia Broadcoast for the recording to reduce echo and background static noise. I've angled the microphone away from my keyboard and mouse to reduce the clicking that you hear.
The camera is something that I'm looking to replace as I plan on doing more content that involves 'face-to-face' interaction. The desk is something I'm unable to replace for a while, but I'm keenly aware of the issues I have with my microphone and can't upgrade for the time being. Thanks for the advice!

Lava doesn't understand the law of averages, nor probability. There isn't a guarantee that in less than infinite coolers to get a golden oyster... and to have a 99% chance to get one you still need 459 coolers..
I don't see all the drama right now, see this event and those point similar to the arcade game (patchinko game), you can't max out everything directly and this goes for months before everything has cycle through and you can either accept that this will take time and whale you way up. The issue right now is only that people are dealing with pure FOMO where they are pissed that they can't max out everything right away and just seems to have missed the point that Lava might consider bringing these event more often from now how to have a rotation like we have for the arcade game.
As for the code being 1% instead of 2%, yeah this part is clearly an issue but I'm sure Lava will fix it and just give away free gold oyster for everyone per X amount of cooler you opened during the event while the code was wrong. I doubt this was done maliciously since Lava have nothing to earn from doing such a shady move intentionally since it cost him nothing to put these event out there

That said, I still agree that if it's the case, it need to be fixed and people need some sort of free stuff from lava once fix to make sure there was no injustice and make sure people don't feel "Scammed".
I still don't think Lava did this on purpose (at least I hope so) since again, there is nothing for him to gain in doing that but losing people trust that are supporting him on his game.
You realize that I was not aware of this drama before I purchased the entire 42 gold oysters and 750 extra cooler and with that supposed 1% I still got 4 rare items I didn't had to add to my slate and I'm literally a 13/15 to finish unlocking my last of the 4 event buffs (so in 2 days I'll be having the 4 of them) so it's not like it's completely broken for 1%, just he need to fix it and give free stuff away to compensate if that allegation is really true.

FYI I spent about 50bucks n got just short of stamp and bubble upgrade 3 points short for bubble to be exact I'm guessing if it was correct math I would have nearly maxed the shop but meh
He can toss me the daily stamp pack too now I'll still buy it as well lol
