This film won 1st place in the 2013-2014 NCFCA National Short Film Competition.

Flashbang Productions presents, "Lost and Found", a short film depicting the life of a man named Reginald Kelly. I would tell you more, but then you wouldn't need to watch it, and I want you to watch it, because I put a TON of time into making it. I would like to give special thanks to the Kelly family who allowed me to film in the Kelly cemetery. Also, special thanks to my grandparents who sat quietly for hours while we filmed in their house (Billy and Mary Studios). I've rewatched this a bunch of times. The message is just really strong, I wish it was longer! Honestly, I think SOME of the actors could've performed a bit better but I definitely can see why this won an award. I hope to see more Christian films like this as full length movies or short films.

When you teach your children and certain things and not teach them about Jesus and when they grow up they end up wanting to worry about what the world tells them. I will never and could never forget the day that I got saved it was October of 2010 the exact date I do not know but I can say I remember the very moment that God brought to mind my sinful life how wicked and evil I had been and then what Christ has done for me
before the cross where he was scourged and mocked his beard plucked from his face spit upon crowned with thorns then his beaten torn body was made to carry the cross to Calvary and I continuously thought he did that for me all my life I knew that he did that but I did not realize that he did it for me then I could see him in my mind's eye hang on that cross bleeding struggling to breathe and I thought about what I had learned as a child that in the end he gave up the ghost and I thought he didn't only do that for me he took what I deserved Jesus Christ the Son of God died in my place he paid for every sin that I had ever committed and every sin that I would ever commit in the future
it was all done away with at the cross he pleased the Father with his sacrifice his sinless blood and all I needed to recieve the GIFT of eternal life was BELIEVE!
How could I not believe I knew in my heart that I was condemned
... condemned to death for the sins that I had committed condemned to hell for the unbelief in my heart but in those moments my unbelief turned to Faith and I called Upon Jesus Christ who saved me there once and for all
my eyes were opened and immediately I knew I wanted to share this gift with everyone I would look at people walking by me and think do they know I didn't know for so long I would see people with a smile on their face and think are they smiling because they too are saved do they know what I know it wasn't until I found the church that I am a member of and I heard the pastor preach it's not all about you God did not keep you here just to take up space on this Earth it is about lost souls who are headed for hell for all of eternity to pay for their sins we must go and share the gospel with them so that they too can be saved
I thought there's no way that I'm capable of telling someone else how to be saved I'm depressed I have no purpose in my life no one is going to want to listen to me and then I heard this verse
Proverbs 16:3 commit thy Works unto the Lord and thy thoughts shall be established.
And because the word of God is alive it gave me hope and my faith grew stronger and I decided I had obeyed Satan for so long why would I not obey the God that saved me so I began to go and I began to tell others how to be saved and the more I went the stronger I got the more bold I became
winning souls for Jesus Christ is a manifold blessing not only do you get to share the gift of eternal life with someone else but through this beautiful work God cleanses the mind and the heart God teaches things that you couldn't otherwise learn unless you put your faith to wor
you see people who are struggling and at the end of their rope at the bottom of the barrel come up and rise to the top through Jesus there are no words that could fully describe how wonderful winning souls for Christ is if you are saved and you are not sharing the gospel with others you are not only selling God short you are selling yourself short people are dying and going to hell not because they haven't heard the gospel because God says we will all be without excuse but we must go it is commanded Mark 16:15
Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature
we must tell them NOW
you have a family member and aunt and uncle a niece A nephew a son or a daughter a neighbour who doesn't even know that you're saved tell them today what Jesus did for you tell them today what Jesus did for them be that one brave enough to pull them from the fire.
They may see you as peculiar now but in eternity they will be so grateful!

Hahaha! How right you are! I made this film when I was a senior in High School. We had no budget at all and all of the actors were friends who acted for free (hence the inconsistency in the look of the main character, we just did the best we could). But all in all, we had fun and learned a lot. We will be releasing some new and more polished content this summer. Stay tuned!

Comment on budget...There was NO budget. It was a Christian High School project. We were blessed to have so many volunteers to help. Since the release of this film Cody has had the opportunity to work on many films including Magnificent 7 and the just released Highway Men. So proud of the work Cody is doing. Keep up the good work Cody.
I'm sorry, but this is the drama of cardboard cutouts. It needs real life grit and authentic emotion.
So I have a question. I'm not much of a believer in faith but how is this supposed to relate to the Christian belief? I understand the message, but isn't it more relevant to helping other people than with god. It just seems that way from the beginning of the story not to mention God is only brought up near the end of the video. Also not to mention he probably died from taking his oxygen cord off but that's just nitpicking.
Doing unto others is doing it unto God, or when we are in the service of our fellow beings, we are only in the service of our God!. So helping others is doing God's work!
helping others is important, but our so-called "good deeds" are polluted in the sight of God for two reasons: we always do it with selfish motives, even if it's 1 % selfish, its not acceptable to a perfect God. People mainly do good stuff because it makes them feel redeemed for the bad they've done in the past. we are always running from our own ghost. The sinful choices of the past and hoping to banish it by good works in our present.
This doesn't work even in a human court. You can't be absolved if lets say you committed a murder 5 years back and they found the body and you had been doing great community service, even saved a life during that 5 years, it doesn't matter. the Judge will still hold you accountable for that murder and you will face justice. The same with God.
We cannot have our good deeds "cancel out" the bad. God is a just judge. He will punish evil. And because He loves you though, He sent His Son to take on the form of humanity so He could punish Him instead of you in your place. Jesus lived the perfect life none of us ever have so that as the head of all humanity, He could represent us and give you His righteousness. It's a double cure. Now we can have peace with a perfect and good God who wants us to have relationship with Him through trusting Jesus' work on our behalf.
It's not about rule-keeping in the Christian life. It's about friendship with God and letting Him change you from the inside out through that relationship. God bless you, Zack.
He brought souls to God's kingdom thru his deeds. That's important in whatever you do. He redeemed his leftover timings.

God came to earth to serve us by giving of himself, freely because of this, when we live for God, we do so by mimicking the example he left for us. Practically speaking, that often times means living a selfless life of service to others the way he did for us. If you are interested in learning more about what Christians believe, the book of John in the Bible is short and explains a lot. And yes! Hahaha! You are right! A little blooper there with the oxygen tank! I made this film when I was only 19 and it was far from perfect, but it was fun and I learned a lot.

I thought it was good as is. And besides, it's a short film. In film, you let the visuals of storytelling do the talking rather than more dialogue. A problem with most Christian movies is that they tell instead of show.

This film had certain restrictions on time. It could not be over 8 minutes and was literally done in about 2 weeks. The theme of the film was "determination." Cody did an amazing job being this his first try at short film making. Keep up the good work.

If Jesus is God then why he said in gospel of mark chapter 13 verse 32 "and for the day or the hour, nobody knows when it will come. Not even the son nor the angels but only the father". Now if Jesus is God then why he said that he doesn't know the hour? God is all knowing. So Jesus should have known this if he was God. And it is clearly mentioned in book of acts chapter 2 verse 22 "ye men of Israel listen to this. Jesus of Nazareth a man approved of God amongst to you by wonders and miracles and signs which God did by him and you are witness to it". These are man-made doctrine. Please take these words seriously. It's not about me being right it's about the word of God telling you what you're supposed to do to enter into his Kingdom TO BE SAVED!!

Please cite your observable, testable, and repeatable evidence of a "god."
if you’re tying to prove God’s existence through experiment, you’re going to fail. Likewise, you can’t disprove God with an experiment as well. All we have are indications that God exists, such as the Fermi Paradox, the theological and historical consistency of the Bible despite completely different authors with different background, the apostles sacrifices to spread the Gospel despite there being no motive, archeological findings confirming Jesus’ ministry and the Gospel’s situational accuracy, and some others. Once you realize that the sheer weight of the indications that pointing to God, faith and humility will provide you the proof of His presence in your life. But of course, I’m not going to cite that as experimental proof, because God doesn’t operate in the realm of experiment, His existence isn’t bound by the laws of physics because he created those laws and can break them just as easily.

@@danduryea 1) You're assuming that medicine and faith are two totally separate solutions to the problem of sickness. Not only is the Apostle Luke himself a physician, but medicine's usefulness is frequently mentioned in the bible (Isaiah 38:21, Luke 10:34, 1 Timothy 5:23, 2 Kings 20:7). Medicine is an amazing product of human innovation and ingenuity, but it becomes a problem with God when we begin believing that medicine (among other human inventions) are the sole solutions to humanity's issues (Jeremiah 30:13).
2) Another fallacy you made is that you're misunderstanding what the Bible is - the Bible is NOT a science book on how to treat patients, it's a book on salvation. That salvation does not entail a comfortable life here on Earth, and for many in the Bible and in modern nations like North Korea, India, China, Indonesia, and Russia, it means death (2 Timothy 3:12, John 15:18, 2 Corinthians 12:10). Ultimately, the medicine you provide me can be used in conjunction with prayer, but if I had to choose between my life on Earth or my life in Heaven, I'll pick the latter any day of the week.

@@danduryea If we follow your line of logic and assume that the Bible is fictitious, then the inclusions of medicine in the Bible would be unnecessary because it can easily be explained away with an answer centered around faith. If the prophet Isaiah, the apostle Matthew, and the other individuals in the cited verses wanted to truly spread their religion, they would have provided advice on using just prayer and in order to heal their sicknesses in order to truly elevate their religion. Instead, their advice on using medicine indicates that even the most Christian/Jewish individuals writing the Bible believed that medicine fitted God's message.
As for evidence that Luke is a physician, the apostle Paul refers to the apostle Luke as a "beloved physician" in Colossians 4:14. Again, even if you believe that the Bible is not divinely inspired, it is still a valuable source of historical information regarding the Apostles' lives because the different New Testament books originated as separate manuscripts not intended for mass production. Therefore, any motive for apostle Paul to lie about Luke's status in a seemingly unrelated Book would be very weak.
In regards to your sources on prayer, there again exists a fundamental misunderstanding of what prayer is and how it is to be used. In order to actually understand how the Bible actually views prayer, which is much different than the commonly understood viewpoint, let's look at what the book has to say for itself and four areas where your arguments fall short.
Problem 1: the individuals studied in the sources you cited are not necessarily true Christians that would receive God's gifts through prayer. This is extremely important in understanding why many prayers are unanswered because the Bible is explicit in saying that only those who follow God closely will have their prayers heard closely (Proverbs 15:29, 1 Peter 3:12). Therefore, your cited sources aren't necessarily analyzing the correct sample group, because not every average person has their prayers heard closely.
Problem 2: the very nature of a study on prayer would render the prayer ineffective. The reason why this is the case is because prayer should be done with absolute faith with the purpose of connecting with God, not with proving a point. Matthew 6:6 clearly says to Christians, "when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." Therefore, because the prayer is being studied with the purpose of proving/disproving the efficacy of prayer, and not with the purpose of individually connecting with God, then the prayer would be greatly reduced in its effectiveness and would explain the reached conclusions. In fact, James 4:3 literally says "When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives."
Problem 3: analyzing prayers through case studies inadvertently fosters conditions that would render prayer weakened. This is because when praying for the purpose of proving a point, the individuals studied are most likely praying with apprehension or uncertainty about their actions, since they are being tested. This goes directly against what the Bible says is conducive of effective praying: "when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord." (James 1:6-7). Hebrews 4:16 and Mark 11:24 also corroborate my claim on the Biblical view of prayer. Therefore, the pryer studied isn't reflective of true prayer that devoted Christian enjoy.
Problem 4: prayer is not meant to be met with instant gratification, it is an often long process that requires patience and continued faith. Every study you cited was a controlled examination of prayer, not a longitudinal study of prayer. This is important to consider because, as the Bible says, proper prayer often takes immense patience and is not necessarily responded to quickly. The entire chapter of Luke 18 is a parable taught by Jesus to his disciples saying that they should "always pray and not give up" (Luke 18:1). Furthermore, 1 Thessalonians 5:17 states that Christians should "pray continually" for proper prayer. Even if we discard evert point I have made about how the circumstances of case studies undermine the efficacy of prayer, the fact is that the inherent nature of effective prayer cannot be isolated to cases of periodic study.
In conjunction, these four facts mean that your cited studies on the effectiveness of prayer are not reliable, and cannot be used to assess prayer's role in individuals' lives. As a devout Christian myself, I have seen and personally experienced the amazing outcomes of prayer, but I don't expect you to believe me. That's why I believe that a deeper understanding of what Christianity truly is should precede your assertions, because the often cited of Christianity - one of overt simplicity - is not reflective of reality.
