    Using this to power lights to to remote quail hutches (to stimulate egg laying in the winter) as well as a circulation pump for the (heated via 110v thermo-controlled bucket heater using a 1000w invertor) winter watering system.
    I have a separate timer controller that is programmed to come on an hour before sunrise and go off 2- 3 hours after dusk (adjusted for 14 hrs "daylight" pending time of year.
    I power the 12v timer off the 12v barrel plug. I power the lights with the load lugs, so I can turn this lighting schedule off if desired. I also have a secondary barrel plug male to the load lugs, should I wish to directly power the circulation pump (by passing the inverter which is necessary to use a 110v thermally controlled on/off adapter) should my 200w/190 ah system not be able to keep up with the thermally controlled heater (on at °45) AND the pump, as circulation only draws 2a (heater draws 4.17a) and may be more important than the heater (since my inverter shuts off

    • @charlessharp9795
      @charlessharp9795 Před 4 lety +2

      Some panels come bare wired and others come with a 3.5 plug. This controller is designed to accept either one. Harbor Freight 100w panels are 12v and come with 3.5 plug. It plugs into the left side hole. The right side hole is for Power Out, just like the 2 screws to its left. Same scenario. Some appliances have a plug and some have bare wire. Most 24v panels are bare wire. This controller is supposed to detect which voltage is being used, 12v or 24v, panels and battery bank. DO NOT EXCEED 24v!

    • @charlessharp9795
      @charlessharp9795 Před 4 lety

      @Irene You can only use 12v or 24v, not both. Both together creates 36v, which exceeds this controller's abilities. Each voltage requires its own controller. This controller will accept 12v panels or 24v panels and will adjust the output charge according to the battery bank setup as long as it doesn't exceed 24v. As for both types of connections, as long as the panels are the same voltage you can use both.

      The one I own (100A) is for 12volt or 24 volt battery system. Either one, and it should auto-set for the proper one.
      "In general" , for controllers, if a 24volt battery source is depleted super-low, when you hook it up to the controller it could think its a 12volt source. In that case, you'd need to unhook from the controller and pre-charge up your battery source more from a direct charger.
      The PV arrays often charge at slightly higher volts than the battery voltage. For example, a 27volt solar panel would be used to charge a 24 volt battery system.

    Even a true Deep Cycle battery should never be discharged to a total less than 50% charge to prolong its life exsistance ,, I have my system set to shut off power at 60% charge ..
    your 40% will kill the batteries life to fast , I have 6 years on my batteries and their still in great shape ..

    • @Lenzwalters
      @Lenzwalters  Před 4 lety

      you are correct the less discharge % is better and would prolong the cycle. knowing certain persons won't study the system until they are out of power i recommend 40% that wont be to bad. sizing system requires with more batteries , some person may be on a small setup, and use out all the battery power.

    • @muffdriver69
