Okay to all the assholes saying he drives like a girl and all this stuff. He just rebuilt it right out of the shop he has to drive slow.. for one, he only has a 3:73 gear ratio on estimated 500+ HP. that power would eat his rear end. and for two he has to get the car tuned and lastly AFTER its tuned it needs to be slowly introduced into speed and let the engine slowly adjust to 3k and 4k and run it gently or else all the work put into that engine was for nothing. PS. this is from a 18 year old girl. yall need to educate yourselves.
Thank you for knowledge beatdown on these idiots. buddy of mine has an LE2 lt1, spun a bearing just driving 30 minutes home from the builder before he had it tuned, babied it the whole way...
seriously. I know the pain. I've got a 400 small block in my 83 camaro and it has the original differential 3:73 and I cant slam on the gas at all till I get a new rear end
+Tiffany Morgan. just because it has 3.73 gear ratio doesn't mean its weak. its weak because its a 10 bolt rear end. before you spend your money on new ring and pinion look into getting a 8.8 rear end or a 12 bolt they hold up alot better.
one of many "damn, should of bought that when i had the chance" moments. anther big one was when I was 18, i had an opprtunitly to buy an all original 71 383 auto white w/ tan interior Roadrunner in good shape for $800 (this was right before the last big musclecar boom). i passed on it cause i had just bought my 73 Javelin/AMX (which didn't run and was rusty, but all origanal and had on it 51,000 origanal miles) for $550. My AMX in mint shape is worth $35,000 compared the Roadrunner near $70K.
a 3.750" stroke with a 60 over bore is a 388 3.480" stroke with a 60 over is 360 so a 383 is a 3.750" stroke with a 30 over bore from a 4.000" bore so yeah thats a 388 in a small block chevy form

Yes... lol, I had many of those moments through the late-'80s when I was a teen... could have bought a true '69 Z28 302 car for $1,200 and a sweet '70 Challenger R/T 383 4-speed car for $2,500. If we only knew what we know now. (sounds like a Toby Keith song or sumthin, lol)
Ah! I'm new to domestics and am building a z28 383 myself right now so I'm researching heads and have seen nothing but 1LE, 2LE, for the Lloyd Elliot heads...the more you learn. ha
knowing that now makes me wish i would of bought the 93 1LE i found for $1700. i turned it down cause 2nd and 3rd gear were bad in the 6-speed. ended up buying a 93 G92 automatic Z28 for $1500 instead.
Yes! I forgot about spintech, but when I went to buy a spintech exhaust it was a bit hard? Not sure if I wasn't looking hard enough or what. But I'm glad I didn't find one because I've recently heard it in person... Raspy as FUCK.
Yoo gimme the run down on the build im trying to swap in a 383 in to my camaro but apparently i need a custom wiring hardness what did you do to yours?
Running this thing totally untuned hard would not work, going from a 24lb (whatever stock size is) to what I am going to assume is 35-42lb injectors, you're going to have a lot of fuel being dumped. Granted he's gonna need more but the PCM is going to be totally confused on wtf is going on. Idling alone would be a feat. Also, unless you have some sort of weird dimensions going on, you most likely have something besides a 383, and gearing is 3.73:1 not 3:73, no idea how so many people confuse this, it's a ratio. Judging by the video title it at least has a mail order tune on it.
That is incorrect actually... The 383 is a 350 "production" block (That means unchanged) with a 400 crank that has it's main journals turned down by .200" to fit a 350's smaller size. A true 383 CiD motor is not bored over at all... The 383 runs "stock" (unchanged) size 350 pistons with modified skirts and 400 rods and crank. These are the true and original specs for the 383 that I was taught to build back in the early 90's before people went on a "bore everything over" kick...
383 stroker motors are not bored over. .60 would not make it a 383. A 383 is a 350 block with a 400 crank, and either 400rods/350 pistons or 350 rods/custom pistons. If yours is indeed bored .60 over, + all that I mentioned than you'd have more than 383 CiD...
