Millions like me had their minds blown by that masterpiece and immediately went down the Ren rabbit hole, thus discovering and reveling in his fantastic back catalog. I've been starved for a true talent like him, and I know I'm not alone.
He had a big local following in Brighton for his band The Big Push and for collaborations with Sam Tomkinson etc. Money Game Part 2 did well online a couple of years ago but, yes, it is Hi Ren which has got him global attention, both for that track and for his back catalogue

Ren usually does everything (sing/rap/beat box, write the lyrics and the music, produces his own beats, plays multiple instruments, plans the videos (often with videographer Samuel Perry-Falvey) EXCEPT for his "retakes" which is when he challenges himself for fun to create lyrics/raps over someone else's beat. Fisher's "Losing It" was a very popular EDM song in the 90s that only had 2 words (losing + it). Only Ren would think of rapping about monsters/killers/beings-who-lose-it on an EDM track. His "Bittersweet Symphony" Verve retake is great too.
