TNA is such a fascinating topic. It's like the best and the worst of pro wrestling combined into one gloriously beautiful clusterfuck.

What Brian says about Jeff Hardy is part of why I enjoy his content so much. He never makes fun of truly tragic and awful things in wrestling, and was typically sympathetic and somber when discussing Jeff's addictions. Kudos, Zane.
& now he’s in jail with multiple years of suspended driver’s license & probation.
poor jeff man. wrestling is full of tragedy
I love how Eric Bischoff stayed in character through that whole ordeal, even when Jeff was at the lowest point in that ring.
@@jbfarley well I mean Hardy avoided everyone backstage and nobody could tell he was doped up, and Eric promised the fans the match with no knowledge of Hardys condition and considering he was never in no condition to compete before he probably didnt see it coming, I'd say he's hardly responsible for what happened and what happened is the best possible scenario given the fact Hardy had already snuck in the ring.
Well, he has to do some sort of improv in order to at least save the match from becoming a total fustercluck
@@michaelbandada9887 he would have to bring in a new opponent last minute which would be clustered and then get Hardy out of there without a fight, and even then fans would be upset. They would have to create a new match on the spot which is never good.
A A That’s a mark of a true professional.
They could have played that longer... Hey, if it is to play some BS to gain time - because we know the moment Hardy is out and the moment Bischoff came to the ring that we are in the WTF right now. We don't know what kind of WTF, we don't know if Jeff Hardy is playing or if it is real.
Anyway, there are 29 minutes to kill on that PPV. And one funny thing in comedy is to stick with a problem and make it way too big. You know, like that scene from Roxanne where Steve Martin makes 25 nose jokes.
The problem: Jeff Hardy shouldn't be there.
Well, what if we have 50 guys who shouldn't be there...
You have Bischoff there talking with the ref and wrestlers, getting ready to say something on the mic, then you hit RVD's music and he comes out... Then you have Mr. Anderson, than Kurt Angle, than Jeff Jarrett... Basically you empty the fucking roster, have 50 wrestlers going to the ring one after the other... Than, have personal from behind that shouldn't even get to the ring get some intro (wait, that's Steve from accounting... WTF?), all cutting Bischoff from speaking on the mic - for absolutely no reasons. You have Bischoff going ape shit over that many people in the ring, and end up doing a promo about lack of order, and saying that the title would match would be no DQ, get knocked out saying just "no." Have Hulk Hogan came in, cut a promo, get punched in... And finish that in a brawl where someone calls the "cops."
Hey, that would be better than what you have there.

"Addiction is not something to joke about or be taken lightly".
CM Punk: "Worked for me against him."
But seriously, Jeff and DDP should *REALLY* have a heart to heart talk.
Jake Roberts: Think about it.
wildside316 DDP saved jake Roberts career, but Jeff didn’t really need DDP.
@@anegg1369 As evidence of today, he didn't. But how much different, how many lows could have been avoided? Could Jeff Hardy vs Sting have been as awesome as we *hoped* it would be?
That's what I'm saying. DDP didn't just save Snake's and Hall's careers, he changed their lives. Now, Jeff had a life-changing moment all his own, but only years after being stoned out of his mind during a match against a hero and icon to *many* wrestling fans. How great a match that could have been(to say nothing of how better his life would have been), had the Charismatic Enigma been clean and clear against the Icon Sting.
wildside316 I barely know anything about TNA. All I know is that Jeff vs sting would’ve likely been sick. I mean, we’ve got childhood hero vs that child, Jeff would’ve wanted to put on a great match.
@@anegg1369 I think Jeff considered that night one of, if not *the,* worst nights in his career. And it was, I think, that night that made him really want to start changing. He, I'm sure, had more low moments, but I doubt ever again one that low. After that night, he came out in the ring, admitted how pathetic he was that night, apologized to everybody, and feeling he had no right to expect, asked the fans, and his colleagues, to give him one more chance. And I think he did very good after that night. The Broken Hardy Saga was truly phenomenal, IMO.
Jeff did eventually find his own way, he worked out his own salvation. He found his own path, as he always did, through good times and bad☺.
Sometimes I say that I'd rather be saddened by a match than offended by it. That's why I hate Jenna vs. Sharmell a lot more than any match from Heroes of Wrestling. Because Butchwhackers vs. Sheik & Volkoff and Jake and Yoko vs. Neidhart and Bundy saddened me, while Jenna vs. Sharmell offended me. Jeff Hardy vs. Sting might be less painful than any of them, but it managed to offend me AND sadden me.
Sting: “I’m gonna give this audience the best show of the night, nothing can ruin it!!”
Jeff Hardy: “Hold my relapse”
"Hold my relapse"
Goddamn, Bro😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Sting's match graphic looks like he knows what's about to go down lol
Sting is a total pro who has always given his all to the wrestling business. You could really tell how legitimately angry he was at Jeff for having the incredible disrespect to come out stoned off his gourd like that. Just look at how stiffly he drops Hardy with the Scorpion Death Drop, and then when Jeff tries to kick out of the cover (why?) Sting obviously shoots and muscles him back down for the three count. Hardy's lucky he wasn't blackballed right out of the business after this.
Well said. Sting is a total class act. Just imagine if Hardy had been stoned in the ring with dudes like Angle, or RVD. Hell just imagine what old school cats like Orndorf or Rude would have done with him.
Sting has been there with his own history of drug problems so he understands, but he's never been that bad off, thus his anger.
Plus you gotta figure he, Hebner, and Bischoff understood how dangerous Hardy was at that point. Especially considering Jeff tried to kick out so he wanted to keep it going when he was in no condition. Had Bischoff not told him to punish Jeff a little then finish it quickly, who knows how seriously Jeff might have hurt all three men in the ring.
Hardy should have been blackballed. I lost pretty much every shred of respect I had for Jeff. I know addiction is a terrible disease, but Hardy just doesn't seem like he wants help
@@215jmoand honestly we still can't fully trust him to stay off the drugs

This here proves that Jeff can easily get through what he’s going through right now, because he’s gone through a LOT worse, and this was his all-time low

As someone who was a Jeff Hardy fan when I was younger, this was sad. Addiction is never something that is easy to deal with and it sucks to see one of your heroes like this.
Something I will praise though is that at least for a good while after, this served as a wake-up call for Jeff and he kept clean for a good while, and they even did a good redemption storyline for him at Bound for Glory in 2012 I think. But the demons Jeff faced at this time also kinda hurt a potentially good storyline with Jeff being a heel for the first real-time in his career and being a darker character. Considering the recent hiccups he has faced, I just hope he doesn't fall again. Wrestling has too many stories of people falling to addiction. As a fan who became a wrestling fan in part to Jeff Hardy, I do not want him to become another sad story. I don't even care if he wins another world title or has another classic. All I want is Jeff Hardy to be healthy and well for his family, his fans, and himself.
Canadian Beavs I think he was dealing with his addiction before this incident. You couldn’t tell because he was hiding it pretty good up until this incident.
@@icetray2727 I know he was hiding it in front of the cameras, but behind the scenes, we knew it was a thing, especially with what happened at Final Resolution.
@@Beavie I agree with this. I love Jeff as A wrestler and even as a person but man he needs big help? I beat Jeff feels guilty for his match with Sting on this show. I don't want to lose Jeff!
Welp.....
@@VeggieBrah I know, and yes he has had some bumps as anyone with addiction has had: But the "incident" with him being released by WWE was not him being drugged. His drug test came back negative. He literally just felt burnt out and said "Fuck it."
Sarita kicked the wobbly Winter in the back of the knee to knock her down. It was just a slightly delayed reaction from Winter. The kick happened pretty quickly and the camera angle of the kick blocks it form view for the most part. Not that it helps the match any but there was a reason for her falling down at least.
As awkward and infamous as this match with Sting and Hardy was it could of been a lot worse than what we see...thank god Jeff Hardy got his act together months later

The description of backstory of this match is longer than the actual match.
It took me years to not call Matt and Nick Jackson by their Generation Me names. My first exposure to them was as Max and Jeremy Buck.
I didn't know they were in TNA.
Same here
They had a short stint in WWE where they parodied DX on behalf of Miz and Morrison during their mini-feud
I still call them Gen ME and Max and Jeremy lol
Same. Actually seeing Generation Me and realizing they're The Young Bucks blew my mind because I'm like wow I was familiar with them at a time.
In hindsight they could have made it a 4 way dance with Anderson and rvd. Boot Jeff out if the ring and have him be injured and finish the match with the 3 of them.
Matthew Finnerty or just a triple threat.
Or have Jeff be attacked like CM Punk at Unforgiven 08.
If you listen to Eric Bishoff’s podcast about this show the biggest issue is that no one could find Jeff until right before match time. If they found him 30 minutes earlier they could have rushed the finish to RVD/Anderson so they could do what you mentioned (which could have salvaged 2 matches actually). Unfortunately in this situation they ran out of useable moves and were forced to use struggle (that’s a Pokémon reference in case your wondering)
I'm glad that Zane didn't see anything humorous in Hardy's state on this night. It's just plain sad to see an icon like that, man.
Personal choices, man. I don’t feel bad for Hardy. He’s been given waaay too many chances. He’s reckless, driving around impaired trying to work matches in no condition. The man is way to old to be acting like that.

Both were fucking terrible. BUT if I dare say so myself, Jenna vs. Sharmell was better because I felt it told a better story. AND IT WENT LONGER THAN ONE MINUTE AND TWENTY SIX FUCKING SECONDS!
2011 had a couple good matches. 2009 had ZERO good matches
I watched Bully Ray's entrance about five times in a row. Somehow his dexterity with that kendo stick fascinated me.
Eric Bischoff would tell Conrad Thompson on his weekly 83 Weeks podcast that contradictory to previous reports, Hardy showed up at the mandatory talent call-time of 11 AM before disappearing for hours where he presumably was doing drugs. He wasn't seen until moments before his match, with Bischoff waiting in the gorilla position to confront Hardy about his absenteeism, which at that moment was when everyone discovered Hardy's condition. As Dixie Carter was not in gorilla at the time, nor anyone else in power, Bischoff took it upon himself to call an audible and told both participants (while trying to cut an impromptu promo) to end the match with Sting winning as quick as possible. Bischoff also added that had Hardy been discovered 45 minutes sooner, TNA would have likely been able to find a replacement and inform all of the affected parties in time. However, as most talent had already been out of their ring gear and showered by the time of the main event (or in some cases left the arena altogether), the crew in gorilla was left with no choice but to let Hardy compete, but end the match as quickly as possible.

Well because Bully's still being hit by something, even if it is a soft toy. People are actively taking a bump just by holding Joey Ryan's bulge. Both are stupid but that's the difference.
From a bunch of interviews and such, here is what I've heard happened in that last match.
Sting isn't able to find Jeff to talk about the match. Neither has Eric seen Jeff that day.
Thirty minutes before the match Matt Hardy talks to Jeff, who appears fine.
Match is on, Jeff's music hits and no Jeff. Eric spots Jeff being dragged to the go/gorilla position, another person states Jeff's feet are being dragged there. Everyone is shitting bricks, the music is going and Jeff can't even walk. Panic overload occurs in Eric when he spots Jeff walking down to the ring. An oh crap moment and we don't have time to have a board meeting to figure out how to fix this.
Sting is told make it quick before he goes out. He's pissed, goes out. While his music is playing ref makes 'X' sign to indicate trouble with Jeff, which is already known.
Eric walks out because apparently no one backstage can make a decision. As he walks out is wondering WTF am I going to say and do. Cuts a promo on the fly while informing Jeff and Sting to do the finish and end the match. Doesn't get around to telling ref.
Match starts and Jeff messes this up. Ref recognizes the problem tells Sting if you pin him I'll count to three.
Sting does his finish, and forcibly pins Jeff as the ref counts to three.
Jeff is confused.
After going backstage everyone just gets out of dodge.
To watch live, yeah, a 0. Now to listen to the train wreck it became, 4 out of 5.

FYI Generation Me were The Young Bucks before they became Generation Me. They were ROH and when ROH first started being on national tv (HDNet now known as AXS TV) and competed on ROH’s live PPV Final Battle 2009 (although that was an iPPV back when in the infancy days of iPPV).
The bummer: Sting and (sober) Jeff would normally have had a decent match.

*Another rare f bomb by Brian Zane*

I remember a time when Kaz without a full head of hair would’ve been inconceivable. It even got people to speculate that his refusal to cut his hair was why he got dropped by WWE back in 2005. Kaz has grown a lot as a performer since then, but his hair sure hasn’t. Definitely one of my favorite character arcs.
Joining Immortal was Jeff's only heel run as a singles competitor. He's remained a babyface since hie return in September 2011. So this was the end to his only proper heel run. Yikes.
I love Jeff and it always hurts me to see him in times like these. He was so easy to love in his day. I always hope the best for him in future.
